Kira stared at Raichi for a while and nodded, "Ready."
Raichi nodded back in response as he activated his three tomoe sharingan and put Kira in a genjutsu where he punched rocks until his hands bled and bones broke to bits.
This training continued for a few days and their schedule was always the same. Cast a long lasting genjutsu on Kira and maintain it until Raichi ran out of chakra. Take rest and repeat the same steps.
They went through almost 4 to 5 genjutsu sessions a day and with each session lasting a little more than an hour, Kira slowly improved himself. The genjutsu would be different every time, but all of them had a similar idea behind them.
Experience pain through movements that are mostly used in fights, like punching, kicking, running, jumping, etc. It even included handsigns and also chakra flow, so every time he tried to used a jutsu, he'd experience stinging pain in his entire body.
The improvement was gradual and even though it took time, Kira patiently went through with the training while gritting his teeth. His shadow clones couldn't fight each other as their attack power improved, so Kira got them to practice ninjutsu and improve upon his novice level chakra elemental release.
Two weeks later, the four of them gathered at the Hokage's office and stood in front of Hiruzen as they waited for him to assign them a mission.
After taking a look at multiple B and C rank missions, Hiruzen gave out their mission.
"This is a B rank mission, but can turn into an A rank anytime. There will be another group of shinobi coming with you, but they'll be hidden and will act only when needed.
The task is to act as the bodyguards of a certain businessman. He's a distant relative of the daimyo of the land of fire and holds a lot of power in the politics of the country." Hiruzen said and focused his attention on Raichi.
"If things go south, protect the kids. The anbu will take care of the rest."
Raichi nodded, "As you wish, lord Hokage."
"Well then, get ready to leave in two days." Hiruzen said before looking at Kira, "How's your training going?"
Kira gave him a thumbs up, "It's going pretty well. I'm still far from being able to use my full strength, but I'm seeing improvements."
"That's good. How about you two?" he asked as he glanced at Taka and Sachi.
Sachi froze for a second, but then came to her senses pretty quickly, "I'm learning from my father..."
"Bad." Taka said one word and fell silent, not intending to explain further. For Hiruzen, this was more than enough to understand what he was talking about.
He nodded and dismissed the team before getting up from his chair. Since his most talented student was assigned a potentially fatal mission, he wanted to handpick the best of the best Anbu members to tag along.
As for why he even considered giving Kira a mission like this when he didn't want him to face too much danger? It was because this mission was the best among the other A rank missions.
There was an extremely low possibility of anyone attacking the client, but as a shinobi, Kira would have to keep his condition perfect and stay alert at all times.
Outside the hokage's office, Kira bid farewell to his team and headed home using preparations as his reason. But in reality, he simply needed some alone time so he could think about a few things unrelated to the mission.
'I only have 20% of my chakra that I can use at the moment, so flying raijin won't really be useful in long fights as it consumes too much chakra.' he thought as he headed back home.
He opened his system screen and took at look at his talents before carefully thinking about the areas where he could invest his two free character points.
'To imitate shisui's body flicker, I'll need to be able to create more regular clones and should also be able to control them. Genjutsu and Dynamic vision huh... I guess I'll test out my theories before thinking about investing these points.'
After reaching home, he went straight to the training area and created two regular clones, which was his current limit.
He then stared at the dummy in front of him and sighed as it wouldn't really help him test the limits of his technique.
'The Aburame aren't really good at taijutsu, so they won't be able to help me out with this. Maybe.... Kakashi? Nah, it's better to leave him alone for now. After all, I wasn't really close to him when we were at the academy.
I guess I'll just go and ask Taka and Sachi for help instead. They're probably at the hot pot place, eating sukiyaki...' he thought as he sped towards the restaurant.
And just like he had predicted, the two of them were inside, eating their food while not speaking a single thing. It wasn't that Sachi didn't like talking. In fact, she was the most talkative one among the three of them, but since Taka never really responded to her unless necessary, she stopped talking whenever she was alone with him.
"Hey, you guys." Kira said as he grabbed a chair and sat down on their table. He lifted his hand up and looked at the middle aged woman behind the counter, "Miss, can I get a pair of chopsticks, please?"
While the woman grabbed a pair for him, he shifted his attention back to his two friends, "After lunch, can you guys help me out with something? I'm trying to develop my uh... what do I call it? Hmm, I guess a specific fighting style using a few basic jutsus. I just need capable opponents so that I can test it's effects."
Taka simply nodded in response, while Sachi spoke up, "What jutsu are you planning on using? I've never seen anyone create a fighting style with just basic jutsus."
