A Decision

IMANI

Imani tossed and turned in her bed. She couldn't stop thinking about the meeting she had with Lucas. She really wanted to help him but she didn't want to go to Wolfborn. There was also the fact that the virus he and his people were dealing with was deadly and she strongly felt that he should let the government know about it but Lucas was resolute in his decision to keep them out of it.

She had told him she would get back to him and even though he wasn't quite happy with that response, he didn't push her. After Lucas left, Desmond had tried to find out what she and Lucas talked about but she didn't tell him.

To be honest, she was scared. It had taken nine months for the cure to the Sirizan virus to be found and in that period, the population of the world had dropped from billions to millions. If this new virus wasn't handled in time, it just might be the end of the human race.

Imani let out an exasperated sigh. She wanted to tell Lola about it but she couldn't because Lucas didn't want anyone else to know about it. She understood his fears about what the government might do if they find out about the virus and she sympathized with him but this information weighed down on her chest like an anvil.

The door to her bedroom opened and she glanced at it to see a grinning Lola walk in.

Imani rolled her eyes as she looked away from her and at the ceiling. "How was church?" she asked even though she knew that wasn't where she went to.

"I didn't go to church. I went to Takeda's place," Lola stated as she sat on the bed and proceeded to take off her wedge heels after placing her handbag on the bed.

Imani mock gasped before Lola lay on the bed, throwing one of her legs over her. "You don't mean it."

"So..." Lola grinned at her. "How'd it go?"

The corners of Imani's mouth turned downward and she furrowed her brows as her friend winked at her. "How'd what go?"

"Oh, come on. I want details. I need details. Like every little dirty detail." The grin on her face grew even wider.

Imani groaned and kicked Lola's leg off hers. "Details about what, you maniac. We didn't do anything."

"What?! ...Then why did he come over?"

Imani pressed her lips together as she remembered what she and Lucas talked about. "Just... stuff," she said and Lola snorted.

"Oh, wow... stuff. Damn, that man is clueless." She threw her leg over Imani's legs again. "Maybe I should have left a box of condoms on the centre table in front of him."

Imani gave her a dirty look. "I'm beginning to wonder how Takeda deals with you."

"Don't. Unlike you, he got some action today."

"Why are you like this?" Imani groaned and rolled away from Lola. "Go away."

Lola giggled as she pulled her phone out of her bag. "Did you see the phone I left on the console? It's yours."

"Oh, thanks."

When she realized that the new phone had all the data that was on her old phone, she guessed that Lola got it for her sometime between last night and this morning since the screen of her old phone was cracked courtesy of Lucas.

"So... What did you guys talk about?"

Imani glanced at her friend out of the corner of her eye. If she told Lola what she and Lucas talked about, the girl wouldn't tell anyone but Imani didn't want Lucas' trust in her to be misplaced.

"Stuff," she replied.

"What kind of stuff?" Lola asked as she scrolled through messages on her phone.

Imani took in a deep breath when she realized she wouldn't drop this. "How is Takeda?" she asked, trying to change the topic.

"He's fine. What kind of stuff?"

"Lucas touched my boob," Imani stated monotonously, trying to change the topic again, and Lola's phone dropped from her hand as her mouth fell open.

She suddenly let out a high-pitched squeal and Imani winced before she sat up. "How did that happen? When did it happen? Where did it happen? Did he squeeze it gently or roughly? Were you shirtless or -"

Imani cut her off by throwing a pillow in her face. "You're a maniac."

"Oh, come on. I just want details," she muttered and Imani shook her head as Lola's phone buzzed in her hand. "... Tyrone came over?"

"Yeah... how did you know?"

"Denise posted a couple of pictures on Weaver," she replied as she turned her phone around to show Imani a picture of she, Lucas, Tyrone, Kyle and Desmond standing on the driveway in the morning.

Imani let out an exasperated sigh as she realized that the picture will make more rumours about she and Lucas pop up. "Who's Denise?"

"Neighbour lady in the house on our left."

"Her- Her name's Darlene."

"Tomato tomato," Lola said as she got up from the bed. "I'll go find something to eat." She began to head towards the door before she stopped and turned around, "Have you received the e-mail invitation to the unveiling party?"

Imani shook her head as she reached for her phone which was on the night stand. "I kept the phone on silent. Reporters have been calling."

The unveiling party was for a new car that had been manufactured by Sutton Inc. and the car was basically the same as the Renfield XV Sutton. The only difference was that the new one had a wheel and that was installed because most people complained that the previous car adhered to traffic laws.

She turned on the phone and saw numerous missed calls from unknown numbers and two e-mails, one from Sutton Inc. and the other from Jacob Peterson. She furrowed her brows when she saw the e-mail from Jacob Peterson because his number was switched off whenever she called.

"Yeah, I got it," she said before Lola left the room.

The first thing she saw when she unlocked the phone were the lab reports Lucas shared with her, reminding her of the virus killing werewolves and she remembered that when the Sirizan virus was spreading, she found the cure to it because she wanted it to stop killing people.

'Werewolves are people too,' she thought as she stared at the lab reports.
