Suddenly, everything became clear.
It was all a genjutsu!
Sarada was just a few millimeters away from delivering a punch that will blow Boruto out of the battleground.
"What happened there?"
From the observation stand, Shikamaru muttered in curiosity. Boruto had closed his eyes in time before Sarada could use her newly awakened Sharingan.
Sakura would have been worried to see her daughter developing Sharingan if she was not on an urgent mission that only she could handle.
Naruto was really surprised with Sarada. Not only she awakened Sharingan, probably due to stress of battle, but also used a genjutsu he just casually mentioned to her a really long time ago.
"Finger genjutsu."
"Finger genjutsu? What's that?"
"It's one of Itachi's most dangerous genjutsus. He once trapped me in it, without even eye contact! I didn't think Sarada will invent it!"
As Naruto told Shikamaru about it with excitement, he suddenly felt a weird sensation.
'Did you feel it too, Kurama!?'
'Yeah. It came from your boy.'
Naruto focused on Boruto amidst the dust, and saw something strange.
Back at the fight, Boruto realised that it was all a genjutsu, and saw a devastating punch about to obliterate him.
He instantly tried to jump out of the way, and he almost got hit. But, he managed to jump away in time.
'Strange... the punch clearly connected, but... it was like...'
Naruto has entered Sage Mode, trying to determine the uncomfortable feeling. And he saw the punch's chakra, the main destructive force behind the attack, connect, but nothing happened to Boruto.
'Naruto, I don't feel any intent of chakra from the brat's right eye. Unlike his whole body. Something is wrong.'
Naruto was also shocked, and worried. He couldn't see anything wrong with Boruto's eyes. The chances of him awakening Byakugan are also low since he inherited most of Naruto's genes unlike Himawari, who inherited more of Hinata, and has awakened Byakugan on some occassions.
Even if it was Byakugan, Naruto should have been able to see it. But... he even had difficulty in seeing Boruto for that split second, let alone his eyes.
It was as if..., at that moment...
Boruto became a blur.
