Chapter 18

The next day, Xavier and Peter decided to hangout with their friends before going on patrol that night. After a bit of debating, the group had settled on going to Frank's Pizza then heading over to their spot to play some games. They even managed to drag Harry with them before he could run off to Oscorp after school. 

"Hey guys! Am I late again?" Peter was late by at least ten minutes.

"Is that really a question?" Harry retorted. He was not happy about being dragged from whatever work he does at Oscorp. 

"Oh come on, it's only ten minutes. And you'll be set free from us as soon as you beat one of us at Smash, deal?" Peter shot back. Harry only rolled his eyes and grumbled under his breath. 

"Stop arguing and eat your food so we can go play you two." Cindy had become the 'Mother' of the group, always making sure they didn't get into trouble. Especially with Xavier, as he seemed to run into trouble at every corner.

After a long night of relaxing with their friends, Xavier and Peter went on their daily patrol. In the past month they had gotten a lot done. For one, Peter had finally managed to find all of Tombstone's bases, and Xavier was planning to go and take them out one by one as soon as they finished their enhancement. 

The next thing was that the brothers had gotten a lot of fame recently. Let alone at the school, a lot of mainstream news stations were having sections of their morning paper about the boy's exploits. There was a mixed attitude towards them as far as the public eye was concerned. On one side, there were many that were angry that they were doing the police's job. Actually J Jonah Jameson had started to make his stance known about the 'Maniacal Masked Marauders.'

The rest of the community were happy that their streets were becoming cleaner and that the boys were taking responsibility. They had begun to be paid so when they could, they'd leave some money for things like broken windows or locks. Overall, the community was more or less taking their presence well. 

Once the boys had gotten back, they made their way to the new hideout after checking in with Aunt May, who had gotten somewhat used to the boys having all nighters at 'the group hangout.' There, Xavier realized that his phone had been blowing up with news and a lot of texts from MJ in the group chat.

"GUYS TONY STARK WAS FOUND AND I'M ALLOWED TO GO AND ASK QUESTIONS AT HIS PRESS CONFERENCE TOMORROW!" She left a very loud voice message along with the texts, showing how excited she was. 

Seeing an opportunity, Xavier quickly texted back. "Are we allowed to tag along with you?"

"...I can take two people along with me as long as you help. Had to ask my boss." She replied after a moment of silence. 

"Peter! Be ready tomorrow morning, we're going to meet Tony Stark." He yelled over to his brother, who was giving a final look over the serum's formulas. 

His head snapped up at this. "We're what?! You know that's my favorite celebrity right?!"

"Never mind that, we have work to do." Xavier told him, also doing a final check on his blueprints. 'Man I wish I had a check to make sure I did this right…'

'...I'm stupid.' He cursed, smacking his forehead. 

Giving a quick search in the system, he found a simple device that would scan the blueprint of the device and the build object to make sure the design is correct. He had extra Tokens to splurge on so he bought a better one that would even check for things like structural weaknesses and other general problems with a build. That left him with 255 Tokens left over to save. 

When he took it out of his inventory, it looked like a thin stick about half the size of his pinky in width. It was about as long as his palm so he could still hold it comfortably, but pity was definitely going back into his inventory else he would ever lose it. 

He first scanned the chamber's blueprint, making a blue light come out of the end of the stick in the form of lasers that swept over the paper for a second before making a loud chime sound. "Neat."

Xavier scanned the chamber as well and found that other than a few loose screws, he had built it correctly. So, no problems should occur because of his tech. "Pete, the chamber's ready. Are you done with the vials?" He asked, looking over at Peter, who was hunched over a few dozen vials of different liquids.

"Yeah, I'm done… Are you sure about this Xavier? This seems a little dangerous to be jumping ahead when we could easily wait for the venom in our blood to finish settling." Peter was uneasy about this whole process. He had found that the spider venom was still in their blood and that it would slowly change their bodies. That was why their growth would jump up when their blood started pumping in a fight.

"There are bad things coming Pete, way worse than you know. We need to be ready for it. Plus, I'm tired of waiting. I'll drop the process with or without you Peter, but I'd really like to have my brother nearby when I do it."

Peter stood in place and held Xavier's eyes, trying to see what secrets they held, before giving in after seeing how serious he was. "...Okay." He walked over and started adding three different vials into their designated slots. One was the growth enhancement serum, one was high-grade IV, and the last was a supplement to keep them hydrated. 

"I ran some tests on the computer I bought from the Shop, and the process should take no longer than 20 minutes. Hopefully it'll take less than half that time. Oh, and I also bought some recovery drinks for after, so we're not as tired. After all, we need to wake up early tomorrow." Peter had been getting the daily missions now too, so he could afford some of this stuff.

"I wanna go first, you know the process better than me anyway." Xavier said, stripping down to his underwear. After his transformation and the venom slowly chiseling away at his body, he looked like some kind of model, or at least like a rock climber with how lean and muscular he was. 

'I hope this won't be too painful.' Wishful thoughts. Xavier climbed into the chamber and layed down, the door closing above him. 

Peter walked over to the side of the chamber where a screen was, and selected the start option. Another screen popped up asking 'Are You Sure?' Seeing this, Peter looked at Xavier through the glass window on the door;. 

"Last chance lil bro." He said to Xavier.

"Haha we both know that I'm older, fuck off."

"All right, starting now." He said, tapping Yes.

"Ah!" Immediately, needles shot into Xavier's body at different angles, shooting all three of the substances straight into his bloodstream. "Here we go." Xavier muttered as the pain started.
