"Both of you, the food is burning!" Pa Folly said as he entered the kitchen, making a beeline for the gas cooker and reducing the heat from the food Akin was cooking.

Omolade and Akin who were so engrossed in kissing each other had no idea the food Akin was cooking was already burning. They broke apart when they heard Pa Folly's voice.

"How could you both not smell that!? How could you both be able to carry on with what you're doing with this smell!?" Pa Folly berated them

Omolade didn't know what to say and stammered in embarrassment before Akin came to her rescue with such a convenient lie she looked at him with mouth agape.

"Pa, we knew the food was burning. Are you aware that the burnt part of jollof rice is always more delicious and that is exactly how Lade loves her jollof rice, burnt and crispy"
