1 The Lonely Witch

There once was a little witch, who wandered from town to town. She wandered, looking for something that she couldn't find. One day, she came across the merchant's three wife's. She looked at them and sighed. "If I were a wife, I'd give my husband anything he may ask of me." She said. The merchant over heard her words. "Very well then! If you are to be my wife, you must give to me what my other wife's have not!" This puzzled the little witch. What could he want that his wife's haven't given it to him? 

She stayed by his side as his fourth wife. "He can't want money, he has more than enough!" She noted. His other wife's hated the little witch. "He wouldn't want a dog or a horse, he already has ten of each!" The little witch giggled. The little witch walked and walked. Seeing everything he had and thinking of what could be missing.

After two long years, she couldn't find even one thing he didn't have ten of. That's when she said, "It wasn't gold or silk he asked for. My husband has nine sons but, no one daughter! That must be what he wanted more then anything!" After talking with her husband, he confessed. "My wife all I've ever wanted was a daughter. I married woman from families with a high chance of bearing a daughter. However, my son's were born instead. Don't misunderstand me, I love my boys but..."

"My dear husband, I am pregnant. Perhaps the baby in my belly is the daughter you have been waiting for." At this news the merchant hugged and kissed his wife. He pampered her and did everything in his to make her happy. However, his three other wife's didn't take to kindly to the news. As the little witch gave birth, the three wife's deside to kill the baby.

As they planned, the witch was burned for eating her child. Her husband didn't believe she did it but no one else believed him. And she was burned. Her husband crying over her. The wife's had abandoned the baby on a cliff. Where the father found her years later.
