Entering The Secret Facility

Donning a black combat suit, Long Yu got off and surveyed his surroundings. Seeing no threat, he slowly approached the wooden cabin with caution.

As he neared the cabin, his ears picked up the sound of footsteps. No, it sounded more like someone dragging their feet across the floor. An occasional soft growling noise could also be heard.

Long Yu immediately went on guard as he raised his rifle towards the building. Just from the sound alone, he could tell that whatever was inside, was no longer human.

Long Yu proceeded to activate the x-ray contact lenses, allowing him to see through the walls.

'One lone zombie, two corpses…' he counted after sweeping through the cabin from the outside.

The rifle barrel that was hovering in front of him moved as he aimed.

*Bang* *Bang*

Two bullets penetrated the wooden walls and found their target. Instantly, the growling

noise from inside stopped.

Long Yu kept his rifle up and kicked open the door. As expected, there was only one threat, and now, it was dead.

"What the…" he muttered with disgust.

Although he had caught a glimpse of the situation from the outside with his x-ray vision, seeing it personally was a little disturbing.

Besides the zombie he shot, the other 'corpses' were merely detached body parts that have been ripped apart and chewed on. Since there were two heads besides the fallen zombie on the floor, he assumed there was a total of three guards.

Ignoring those bloody pieces of meat, Long Yu looked around inside of the cabin. Without effort, he actually spotted a large rectangular hole in the floor. From its size, it seems it could fit at least 5 person standing close together.

After a brief examination, he noticed that it was a hatch with an automatic mechanism.

Moreover, the hatch door's appearance matched the surface of the wooden floor, supposedly to hide the existence of the hole.

Long Yu proceeded to look into the opening with enhanced night vision. Although it was still a little dark due to the depth, he could make out a smaller rectangular platform at the bottom, which definitely led to a lower level.

Seeing this reminded Long Yu of those secret hidden elevators that were shown in movies.

"Tch, I guess it's not called a top secret facility for nothing. Well, at least this means I'm at the right place," he said, feeling a little annoyed yet relieved.

Now, he needed to find the switch that operates the platform. Long Yu directly walked to a white switch box on the wall.

How did he know it was the thing he was looking for? Well, it was because it was already wide open.

As expected, there was a hand print scanner and various buttons inside the box. It seems it was not as well hidden as the hatch, but placed there for operational convenience.

After a quick inspection, Long Yu realised the required code and hand print had already been keyed in. However, the person who had been operating it either died or became a zombie before he could finish activating it.

Long Yu smiled with joy since it saved him the hassle of having to do it himself. He directly pushed one of the buttons inside the switch box.

*Click* *Drrrrr*

A soft mechanical sound could be heard from deep inside the hole.

*Tsss*

A moment later, the platform elevator finally rose to the surface with a soft hiss.

Long Yu pressed another button in the switch box before standing onto the platform. He took a deep breath to prepare himself as it slowly descended.

As the the elevator gained speed and moved deeper underground, Long Yu's vision started to darken. He could feel the draft air blowing against his face.

The depth of the underground level turned out to be deeper that he thought. After waiting in the dark for what seemed like forever, Long Yu finally arrived.

As the steel automatic door to the level opened, he was given a fright. There were actually two zombies waiting for him near the door.

Thankfully, due to his quick reflexes, he was able to eliminate them without causing too much commotion.

In front of him was a dark looking corridor, with some of the ceiling lights occasionally flickering.

Long Yu calmly walked forwards into the darkness as the sound of his boots echoed around in the enclosed space. He was prepared to deal with any threats that appeared.

Fortunately, he did not met with any danger even after walking till the end of the corridor. The guards who did not turn into zombies were eaten by them instead.

*Clack*

Long Yu's step came to a stop when he reached a doorway. Standing 3 meters tall, the thick metal doors were made of titanium, able to withstand the impact of small explosives.

To his surprise, there was a small gap between the doors, and laying right in front, was a corpse. To be precise, it was half a corpse.

The deceased person had a muscular torso, with a skin tone as bronze as a statue. His lower half had disappeared, leaving a mess of intestines and organs on the bloody floor.

'What a pity… He died before he could make his escape,' Long Yu shook his head and said.
