Chapter 1: Where It All Began

The day was almost over, noise echoed throughout the Castle as people scattered to serve the dutchess in labour. The only clear sound out of the hustle was a baby's cry. What a beautiful sight. Such delicate pale skin accompanied by a pair of ocean blue eyes and raven hair. His mother was on the brink of tears as she held her baby boy close. She closed her eyes as she wished her husband was able to be with her to witness this very moment. She couldn't help but cry at that thought ."Don't worry Oliver, Mommy is going to protect you, no matter what!" she consoled her baby as she rocked him to calm down.

••• 5 YEARS LATER •••

"Mama look!" Oliver joyfully called as his mother couldn't help but smile. Oliver was playing outside and decided to give his mother an orchid. "Look mama! A pretty flower." he cheered as his mother picked him up. "Yes Pumpkin, this is an orchid. This represents love, like the love I have for you." His mother stated as she kissed him on the cheek.

-Ding Dong-

The doorbell rang. His mother placed him down to sit on the floor to go and answer the door. "Don't go anywhere Oliver, I'll be right back." she said as she walked away out of sight. Oliver, however, was very curious to know who was at the door. He wandered throughout the halls, greeting every maidens and noblemen he saw. Arriving near the front door, he hid behind a pillar to overhear the conversation.

"Lady Malaria, the King has requested to meet with you." The man in armor stated as he bowed to show his respect. "Mama, who is that?" Oliver questioned as he slowly came out of hiding. "Sweetie you were supposed to be waiting."She said in a worrying tone. "You have a child? Oh how lovely, the King would be delighted to hear what his sister has to offer." the man stated in a cocky tone, walking out the door and into the cart where he then rode off with his noble steed.

The dutchess started to look very pale after hearing the man's words. She then hurried to her child and hugged him tightly. "I'm sorry pumpkin, if anything happens please remember me by this." she said softly as she put an orchid pendant around Oliver's neck. Oliver didn't understand what his mother meant and didn't really look into it. Little did he know it would be the only thing he would have of his dear mother.

It was now night time, Oliver was sleeping in his chamber. His mother watched him as he slept. She felt like crying but nothing fell. Her only hope was to send her own child into a different world with her magic. She reached out for Oliver's face as she kissed his forehead. "I'll miss you, Oliver." She whispered as he slowly vanished before her, leaving her life as well as her world.
