Chapter 14.1

'Stephanie, I'm delighted you're okay after being unconscious for a few days. Anyhow, I must leave." Titan's hands were on his waist, and his face flushed, panicking.

As he turned, he flinched when Stephanie grabbed his arm and looked at him. 'Where are you going? Are you going back to work? How about your breakfast? Have you eaten something?" Stephanie asked in frantic and was about to pull herself out of the bed.

But Titan stopped her, shaking his head. 'Don't worry about me. I'm fine. You should be the one asking those questions to yourself since you're the patient here and not me," he answered in a cold baritone, trying to dismiss her concern.

Although she felt a bit irritated by Titan's response, she couldn't help but worry about him. 'I'm glad, you are fine."

Titan stared at her hand wrapping his arm. His chest felt tight the longer he was staring at it. Then, he looked at her and sighed. Why, Stephanie?

Stephanie removed her hand, letting him go, and averted her gaze. Honestly, I don't know, too.

His face remained scarlet, and he couldn't stop staring at her, studying her, though she looked average for an ideal woman. 'I don't like this habit of yours, Stephanie."

She looked at him again and sighed. 'Wouldn't that be an obvious thing for me to do for you?"

'You work for me as an intern, not as a lamb."

'Wasn't I paid to watch and keep you safe all the time, sir? "

'But you almost died because of me, Stephanie!" Titan's eyes widened and glowed, which surprised Stephanie.

Stephanie was in awe of how Titan's eyes shone brightly as if there was an installed flashlight behind them.

'What?" Titan asked in a louder, frustrated tone.

'I said, your eyes are glowing!" She exclaimed as she pulled herself up to reach Titan's face, kneeling on the bed.

When she was close enough to stare at his sunset-colored eyes, she couldn't help but jaw-dropped and felt excited.

She tried to raise her arm and reach them, but Titan snatched her hand and held it tight, pulling her closer to his chest. 'Stop kidding around, Stephanie. Tell me why are you doing this?" His eyes continued shining like a Padparadscha stone in anger, leaving her gasping with a big smile on her face.

But when she tried to pull her hand, Titan held it tighter. Unable to free her arm, she groaned. 'Fine, if that's what you want," she paused and let out an exasperated sigh. 'Do you think, when I said that you're my cat, and I'm your human, I was kidding?" She shook her head while she continued answering his piercing gaze.

Titan's eyes widened in response, unable to answer her back, and swallowed to ease his parching throat instead.

Her gut felt twisted when she gazed at Titan and remembered him explaining the terms of her new internship contract. Why would she be feeling so concerned about this bastard anyway?

'I don't care if you're the Titan Sandoval everyone knows, or you're my annoying, obnoxious, conning, narcissistic, and angry-looking boss and I'm just your intern," she paused and looked at the cat collar she had given him before she gazed into his eyes once more. Her eyes have turned bloodshot and teary. 'For me, you're my cat, and you're mine."

How did she find enough balls to say something like that to someone like him?

Titan cocked an eyebrow and his face flushed much more as he began to avert his attention somewhere else. Yet, he was caught off-guard when Stephanie raised herself a little bit and pushed herself closer to him. 'I'm yours?" he stuttered.

'You thought I was asleep when I saw what you did earlier, sir," she paused and smiled, 'And I know cats like to rub themselves to their chosen human. So, why won't you tell me straight and be honest with me, sir?" This time, she uttered the word 'sir" with emphasis. After all, he was somebody in this country, and she was a nobody—his intern.

Frozen, Titan blinked a few times and his chest felt tighter. At this point, he struggled to respond to what she was telling him. And when did Stephanie begin to act more aggressively toward him in the first place?

Stephanie seized his hand and tightened it as he attempted to release hers.

To calm himself down, Titan took a deep breath in and let it out slowly. In an effort to understand what was happening between them, he began asking himself a lot of questions while he continued to stare intimidatingly at Stephanie. Because I want to do it, Stephanie. As simple as that.

He let out an exasperated sigh and averted his gaze. 'Anyway, I have to go now. I still have a lot of things to do in the office." He tried to pull his hand away but Stephanie wouldn't let him go.

She found herself staring at the cat collar. And it didn't take a minute for Titan to notice it.

'Can you tell me what happened to him?"

'Eh?" Stephanie was surprised by Titan's question even though she expected him to. As soon as she let go of Titan's hand, she lowered herself to a kneeling position on the sheets.

A loud thump from the door, however, started both of them before she could finish her sentence. Titan was pushed by Stephanie, who then collapsed on the bed in a panic.

'Shit," he whispered as he stepped back and tried to keep his balance.
