Chapter 1chapter 1: System.

The sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm orange glow over the city of New Haven. The streets buzzed with the sounds of honking cars and chatter, but for **Evan Blackwood**, the world felt like a distant echo. He trudged home, his shoulders heavy with the weight of two grueling shifts at the diner and the burden of caring for his ailing mother, **Margaret**.

Evan's mind raced with thoughts of bills and medications. *How am I going to pay for her next treatment?* he wondered, his heart sinking at the thought. The doctor had warned him that her condition was worsening, and the medications were becoming increasingly expensive. He had already cut back on his own meals to afford her prescriptions, but it never felt like enough.

As he approached their small, rundown apartment building, Evan glanced at the flickering streetlight above. It was a reminder of the instability that defined his life. He reached the door, fumbling with the keys as he thought of his mother. She had always been his rock, a single mother who had sacrificed everything for him. Now, she lay bedridden, her once-vibrant spirit dimmed by illness.

Inside, the apartment was dimly lit, the air heavy with the scent of antiseptic and the faint aroma of the canned soup he had prepared earlier. He made his way to the small bedroom at the end of the hall, where Margaret lay, frail and pale against the white sheets.

"Hey, Mom," Evan said softly, forcing a smile as he entered the room.

Margaret turned her head slightly, her eyes lighting up with warmth despite her weakened state. "Evan, sweetheart," she whispered, her voice barely audible. "You're home."

"Yeah, just got off work," he replied, sitting on the edge of her bed. "How are you feeling today?"

She sighed, a mix of weariness and love in her gaze. "Better, I think. Just tired. Did you eat?"

Evan's heart ached. "I had a little something. Don't worry about me, Mom. Just focus on getting better."

Margaret reached out, her frail hand resting on his. "You're doing so much for me, Evan. I wish I could help you more."

"Just being here is enough," he said, squeezing her hand gently. "I'll figure it out. I always do."

But deep down, Evan felt the crushing weight of despair. As he watched his mother drift off to sleep, he couldn't help but feel trapped in a cycle of poverty and hopelessness. He stood up, the sound of his mother's soft breathing filling the room, and stepped out into the living area, his mind racing with thoughts of how to make ends meet.

That evening, after a quick shower, Evan decided to take a walk to clear his head. He wandered the streets of New Haven, passing by the familiar sights—the corner store, the park where he used to play as a child, and the thrift shop that always seemed to have something interesting.

As he entered the thrift shop, the bell above the door jingled softly. The shop was cluttered with old furniture, books, and various trinkets, each with its own story. Evan browsed the aisles, hoping to find something of value that he could sell for a few extra dollars.

His eyes landed on a small, intricately carved box tucked away in a corner. It was covered in dust, but something about it drew him in. He picked it up, feeling the weight of it in his hands. The carvings depicted strange symbols and figures, and as he examined it more closely, he felt a strange energy emanating from it.

"Ah, that one's special," the shopkeeper said, appearing from behind a stack of old books. "Found it in an estate sale. They say it's connected to some ancient magic."

Evan raised an eyebrow, skepticism creeping in. "Magic? Really?"

The shopkeeper shrugged, a twinkle in his eye. "Who knows? But it's unique, that's for sure. Only five bucks."

Evan hesitated, glancing at the few coins in his pocket. He could buy a cheap meal or this box. After a moment of contemplation, he decided to take a chance. "I'll take it," he said, handing over the money.

"Another fool who thinks magic is real" muttered shopkeeper before giving his the worthless book that he pick up from street.

That night, as Evan sat on his bed, he couldn't shake the feeling that the box was more than just a trinket. He placed it on his desk, staring at it as if it held the answers to his problems.

Suddenly, the box began to glow, and a low hum filled the room. Evan jumped back, heart racing. The glow intensified, and before he could react, the box sprang open, revealing a swirling vortex of light.

"Welcome, Evan Blackwood," a voice resonated in his mind, echoing through the room. "You have awakened the Multiversal Merchant System. Your journey begins now."

Evan's eyes widened in disbelief. *What is happening?* He felt a rush of energy coursing through him, and a translucent screen appeared before his eyes, displaying his status and abilities.

**[Status Screen]**

- **Name:** Evan Blackwood

- **Level:** 1

- **Inventory:** Empty

- **Abilities:** None

"What is this?" Evan whispered, his heart racing with a mix of fear and excitement.

**"You are now connected to a multiverse of possibilities,"** the voice continued. **"You can trade with characters from different worlds, acquiring items, knowledge, and technologies. But beware, you cannot share this knowledge with anyone outside your system."**

Evan felt a surge of hope mixed with trepidation. *Could this be the answer to my problems?* He thought of his mother and the mounting medical bills.

**"You will face challenges, but your choices will shape your destiny,"** the voice warned. **"Are you ready to embark on this journey?"**

Evan took a deep breath, his mind racing with possibilities. "Yes," he said, determination flooding his veins. "I'm ready."

As the light faded and the room returned to normal, Evan sat in silence, staring at the status screen. He realized that this was his chance to change everything. With the Multiversal Merchant System at his fingertips, he could finally take control of his destiny.

### The First Step

Evan knew that the road ahead would be fraught with challenges, but for the first time in a long while, he felt a glimmer of hope. He could trade for items and technologies that could help him and his mother.

He glanced at the clock, realizing it was late. With a newfound sense of purpose, he lay down, the system's voice echoing in his mind.

*Tomorrow, I will start my journey. I will do whatever it takes to save my mother and build a better life for us both.*

As he drifted off to sleep, the possibilities of the multiverse danced in his mind, and for the first time, he felt like he was on the brink of something extraordinary.

Reincarnated To Evolve My Bee Empire

"Now, go forth, my mortal champion! Conquer this world—or else!" I lived a painfully average life and died by a stupid, stupid accident, but a goddess interfered, giving me a second chance in another world. There, I became royalty—the lazy kind with almost no obligations, free to live in peace and luxury for the rest of my days. Sounds like a dream, right? In reality, it was anything but—because I became *BEE* royalty. A Drone Bee, doomed to die of old age in 2 months! (A humanoid bee, thankfully, but still a bee in all the ways that matter.) The only way to increase my lifespan is to develop and grow my bee colony—a deadly task in a vicious world like this one. There are murderous insect monsters, colossal beasts trampling the earth, other civilizations, natural disasters, and the bitchy patron goddess who absolutely hates me. But as long as I have my brains, my bees, and the powerful genes my system gives me, my Bee Empire will be unstoppable! === For those who want to know more: This is a wholesome comedic story, but it has some dark moments. The focus is on kingdom building, survival as an empire, and interacting with MC’s beautiful bee wife and adorable bee daughters. The bees are all humanoid (see pictures) and human-sized. However, they are still bees in their ways of life and mentality. Although there’s a system, real growth comes from putting effort and time. Nothing happens in an instant in this story, unless it’s trouble. MC acts like an idiot sometimes (oftentimes), but he’s not actually stupid-stupid. When it comes to strategic decisions, he uses logic and reason. Even if you might disagree with it. Also, there will be no smut (ecchi is a fair game), incest, NTR, harem or BL. === Discord is up! Find it at -> https://linktr.ee/Garessta Updates: 2 chapters/day, right after the reset (with a 5% chance of running late). Reply to author's pinned review if you have questions. Also, although I realize the futility of this aim (at least right now), if this novel reaches top 15 golden ticket ranking (and stays there for a few days, obv), I will mass release 10 extra chapters! (within 30 calendar days)
