8 Lucy's training

Lucy "Lucius from now on you are not allowed to leave the nest without my permission. The forest is changing and until I deem it safe you are to remain here."

"Ok Mom but what exactly is changing?"

'Ha! Were you expecting a cliche I'm gonna sneak out and get myself into trouble! I've learned from the past and I will outsmart whatever fate tries to tempt me!'

Lucy "Monsters from within the forests are showing more activity meaning it's likely they'll venture onto my territory and should they encounter you, you'll be in great danger."

"Okay Mom."

'Could this be related to the Ukanlos? No it's already been years. What's happening? Well I'm not stupid enough to try and find out on my own.'

So with that Lucius is stuck within the nest. However Lucy wasn't going to just let Lucius laze around all day. With Lucius not being able to hunt he can train every waking hour of the day. Or to be exact his Mom made him.

"AAAGGGghhh! Can I please stop! I can't keep hitting this tree any longer! My tail feels like it's going to fall off!"

Lucy "Alright Lucius, you get until I come back with food to rest. Remember Lucius you'll be doing this till the day you make that tree fall."

"AAAGGGghhh! But Mom that tree is harder than stone!"

But she was already gone.

"You're kidding me right? This can't be a tree it's harder that stone. There's hardly a dent in it."

The tree Lucius has been hitting for a month now is wider than a carriage and Lucius has made little progress in making it fall. Lucy made a tree just like this one fall with one swing of her tail. She made it look so easy yet Lucius is struggling so hard with it.

However the training is doing Lucius plenty in terms of growth. What he doesn't know is that the tree he's trying to knock down and the ones around it are growing on top of a Carbalite ore vein. Meaning the trees here are literally stronger than steel. The minerals were drawn up into the tree as water slowly dissolved the Carbalite allowing the tree to absorb it.

By making Lucius hit this tree his tail bones are receiving tiny fractures and when they heal his bones become stronger. And by repeatedly swinging his tail he is building up muscles and learning how to use his tail on reflex.

Lucy once told Lucius that there are monsters out there with hides tougher than steel and Lucius must learn how to deal with them. The simplest one being hit them hard enough that their hide is useless in front of the force behind his attacks..

But that's not all Lucy makes Lucius do. In order to make sure Lucius would fare well in close quarters combat Lucy sparred with Lucius every day. Sometimes in their spars Lucy would use her tail to swat Lucius from every angle or fling the scales on her tail like throwing knives to improve Lucius' reflexes and instinct.

The worst one was when Lucy made Lucius dodge her attacks with his eyes closed to improve his other senses. He got beat senseless for one week until he could finally dodge a single attack. Without him even realizing it Lucius was becoming quite the monster. He's more was more experienced than any his age and due to him previously being a human he is very knowledge as well.

He didn't tell Lucy about it but he experimented with trying to make a simple potion with herbs one night. He succeeded in making a thick salve because without hands he couldn't exactly make a potion but when he made an experimental cut on his arm and applied it. It stopped the bleeding and sped up the closing of the wound.

He also found some whetfish in the lake nearby and used them to sharpen his bladed wings. His Mom rarely had nicks or dents in her blades but he told her about his 'discovery' and got a proud hug in return.

His intelligence already gave him a big boost over every other monster but his Mother's genes were not anything to scoff at either. If he grew up to be anything like his mother he'd be strong. Strong enough to challenge Elder Dragons.
