Ambushed

Demigod.

An existence born from the Gods and blessed with powerful abilities from birth.

A Lvl.1 Demigod has at least one Tier 3 skill and extremely high stats. They can defeat Lvl.100 Boss monsters even at Lvl.1.

Even these seemingly omnipotent Demigods had a weakness. If their parent God died, they would lose most of their abilities – and become a Godless Demigod.

There were two types of Godless Demigods.

Achilles and Heracles were the first type of Godless Demigods. The abilities they retained after losing their status of Demigod were Tier 3 skill 'Invulnerable' and Tier 3 skill 'Labor'.

{Child, don't let your guard down!} Hepius shouted. {Kraken belonged to the second category of Demigod. After becoming a Godless Demigod, Kraken didn't lose his abilities but instead his sanity and became a calamity that only sought destruction.}

Noah nodded. He vigilantly scanned his surroundings to check if more enemies were hiding.

"Why did you say Kraken should've been…!" Noah's words were cut off mid-sentence.

Paris' arm transformed into a massive tentacle. It increased in length and slithered towards Noah.

BAAAMMM!!!

The tentacles suddenly met with a resistance as if they struck an invisible wall.

Noah created two more invisible walls with Psychokinesis, perpendicular to the first wall, and confined the tentacles within it. He added more layers to the walls.

"Sage Heal."

A damage notification appeared above Paris while he was busy breaking the confinement.

The damage notification was erased and suddenly the tentacle started decomposing. Paris broke the tentacle off and grew another one.

"Why you! Why did she choose you!"

Paris' four limbs transformed into tentacles. Their numbers grew at an alarming pace and attacked Noah from different directions

The Sage Eyes allowed Noah to see mana lines. An increase in concentration of mana lines in a single place served as an alarm of oncoming attack while the opposite meant there was no attack. Combined with Hypersensitivity it almost reached the level of precognition.

Hepius watched in absolute astonishment as Noah dodged a Demigod with ease. On the side, Ereubs was watching the battle silently.

Noah had a hunch that even if he ordered Erebus to join the fight the newborn child wouldn't be able to understand his instructions.

"Chains of Condemnation."

[ The sinner has been judged as 'Lawful Evil'. Their stats, skills and abilities will reduced by 150%. ]

[ Alert! The target 'Sea Emperor Kraken' has very high Magical Resistance. The effects of the skill will be reduced. ]

"Is the skill even working?" asked Noah.

Paris' attacks did not become any weaker. If they did, Noah couldn't tell the difference. They were still very much enough to kill him with a graze.

Noah condensed water bullets over his fingers using Water Manipulation.

The water bullets created a loud noise as they traveled through the air and hit the Kraken.

[ –100 HP ]

Noah let out a menacing smile.

"I can't pierce its defenses with physical attacks. For the magical attacks, it shifts the damage to different organs and keeps its main body safe."

Noah didn't know which among Achilles or Kraken was more dangerous. But it didn't seem he could use the same strategy he used with Achilles to defeat Kraken.

{Why aren't you using Inverse Resurrection?} asked Cecilia.

"I just feel like I shouldn't." Noah dodged another tentacle as he answered. He was reaching his limit as the number of tentacles continued to increase.

Soon the ground was completely covered with tentacles, forcing Noah to stand on air by creating a compressed air platform.

Paris' opened his jaws and an azure beam shot out. It was as if Paris had been waiting for this chance.

Noah erected ten walls in an instant.

BOOOOOOOOMMMMM!!!!

Noah created a water sphere around himself and spun it at high speed to increase the defenses.

The beam tore through the walls like a bullet through paper and blew Noah away.

[ Alert! You have less than 3% HP remaining! ]

"This might be a bit dangerous."

Noah wiped the blood from the corner of his lips and used Sage Heal.

He had been using Sage Heal and other skills to gain Divinity but his reserves were slowly running out. Unlike the battle with Achilles, where he had hundreds of soldiers to refill his Divinity and SP, Noah had only one opponent here and wasn't regaining much SP and Divinity through it.

"I'll kill you! I'll kill you! I'll kill you!" Paris shouted.

Four tentacles stood like pillars and shot the azure beams through it.

Noah was forced to use his last card, "Inverse Resurrection."

[ Sea Emperor Kraken has activated skill 'Multiply' ]

[ – 10,000,000 HP ]

The tentacles split from Kraken's body. The main body died while the four tentacles transformed into four Kraken.

"Maybe I should've refused Hades." muttered Noah while being surrounded by four Demigod Krakens.

Noah had a hunch that whoever planned this ambush didn't like him very much.

<Achilles' POV>

Achilles was about to return when he suddenly felt a dangerous presence approaching Nelio from the port.

"Should I stop it?" Achilles hesitated.

But he saw the state of the nation and decided to help them one last time.

Achilles ran through the open plains and stood in front of the city gates. He saw a massive cloud approaching from the distance. Achilles saw the enemies clearly thanks to his improved vision after becoming a vampire.

The intruders had a humanoid figure, blue skin, ears shaped like fins and jagged teeth inside their tough jaws.

With each passing second, more intruders were coming out of the sea and rushing towards Nelio.

"Seafolks? Why are they attacking Nelio?" Achilles' heart was filled with worry.

The Seafolks – a peaceful race who lived inside the seas – were attacking them while the defenses were down. Was this a coincidence?

Achilles used Sagittarius Arrow but he suddenly began coughing blood. His veins burst and he fell to his knees.

"W..what?" Achilles muttered in a ghastly tone.

Achilles had an Elite rating – he had dual mana cores.

Normal rating was given to those who had one or fewer mana cores, Elite to ones with two mana cores, and Epic to ones with 3 mana cores. The higher rating increased the total mana capacity. However, the main advantage of having multiple cores lied in the versatility of powerful skills.

Achilles' first mana core was a non-elemental mana core. The problem was his second mana core – a silver element mana core.

Silver was a great weakness for a newborn Vampire like Achilles. He didn't know this and using Sagittarius arrow made him weaker as it used his silver-element mana core.

"Achilles are you, okay?" Achilles heard a familiar voice from behind belonging to Odysseus.

Odysseus helped Achilles and gave him medicine to recover.

"Take this, we need you to be at your best to stop those sea monsters." Odysseus spoke worriedly.

"Thank…." Achilles' words trailed off. He gulped and asked, "How did you recognize me?"

Odysseus' eyes widened. He chuckled as he answered. "I guess you aren't as stupid as I gave you credit for."

Achilles realized that something was wrong with Odysseus. He attempted to fight back but…

"Cough! Cough! W..what is happening?" Achilles muttered as he fell to his knees. Blood seeped through his ears and eyes. He lost strength in his limbs and a burning pain flared through them.

"It seems you aren't resistant to poison."

Odysseus picked the cup which had the 'medicine' that Achilles drank. He opened his mouth and answered Achilles.

"A revolution."
