The driver nodded, looking at his own phone for directions... or some sort... I heard from Lawrence that's how they found their way here... "Come on get in." Lawrence invited me to the car. Opening it for me.
"Of course." I smiled, coming inside the car...
Well! Fast-food joint! Here we come! I wonder how their dishes would taste like compared to what I usually eat back at the castle?! I hope they are divine!
I eagerly sat down on the car as we headed towards our destination. The city lights illuminated around us like fireflies in the night sky just like what I see in the castle. The bustling cars and somewhat loud screaming of the drivers...
"Must be a culture shock for you right?" Lawrence turns to look at the window that I'm looking at.
"You know I've noticed that ever since we've been here... you showed absolutely no signs of surprising emotions whatsoever in the new things we've been seeing. Perhaps you have come to the big city before?" I pointed out his lack of enthusiasm for the new things I've been seeing... it's as if he already suspected or knows about it...
"Oh no. I just don't really show my emotions..." He says looking away at my direction.
"Why is that exactly? Remember when we were children you would always put your heart out in your sleeve... I remember you crying all the time even... whether it was when you get hurt or when I was upset. You would cry with me although over the years... you've grown colder." I turned to him. "Why is that exactly?" Reasking my question.
"Just a personal choice really. I'm a man of zero emotions as they said it and I prefer to keep it that way..." He responded displaying his stoicism.
I've always found it very hard to read Lawrence, it's as always he was wearing this poker face that prevents me from knowing what he is feeling. It always makes me wonder what he truly feels inside. Beneath his poker face.
"So really deep inside you're excited about the things but in the outside, you're just calm and collected?" I continued the interrogation. To my belief, he still answered saying "I suppose you can say that. Think of me as just a void of emotions. I can feel emotions... but I don't feel the need to express it with my emotions." He says pausing for a bit, recoiling his head to avoid my vision. "Let's stop talking about this."
"Alright then..." I respected his decision so I kept my mouth shut the entire trip towards the fast-food joint. He did the same... dismissing any sort of eye contact towards me... It seems like I really hit a very sensitive topic for him... although he's not showing any emotion... I can feel that he's sad or some sort...
"I'm sorry for being nosy Lawrence."
"It's alright. I don't mind." He pats my head. "You didn't offend me or hurt me in any way if that's what your conscious is thinking. I may not be able to let out my emotions but people's emotions are always apparent and clear to me."
"Can I lay down on your lap again!" I say semi-joking.
"No. You're not a kid princess... I only did that for you last time because nothing in this world wakes you up from sleep... Even getting thrown water on your face doesn't wake you up." He says in a condescending manner.
I stared at the window of the car and I noticed a parade of some sort... a group of people in the streets waving a flag that is of rainbow color. I wonder what those people are? They seem to be having quite a lot of fun with their extravagant costumes and their overall party.. is this some sort of parade that the city is having?
"Hey! Look over there! What's that parade over there." I let Lawrence know of what I saw.
He turned around and remained apathetic staring at it before quickly looking back to me. "From what I heard it's the group of people... where they love or exhibit something different from their assigned gender... like how a girl likes a girl and a boy likes a boy..." He explains it to me... well to the most of his ability. "Since it's a staple that a certain group of people show disdain towards them. They do this parade to show their pride in being who they are..."
"Oh! That's nice! How lovely!" I said giggling.
"Wait? You're not bothered like at all?" Lawrence replied to me, with a hint of shock on his eyes.
"Oh.. well why would I be bothered with it?" I asked him confused with what he was talking about...
Why would I be bothered with a parade showing their pride in being who they are? I don't think that's something to be bothered about...
"Like... they are the type of people that date men but their men and same with women or both.." Lawrence explains.
"I mean... according to the books I read... it doesn't really matter who, you love right? I mean in my books the people that end up as being a couple are happy and they feel whole. If the person that makes you happy and complete the same gender... why would I be bothered by that?"
"You're right... nevermind my question." Lawrence sighs adjusting his position in the sofa seat of the car.
"Princess! We are here... should I park the car somewhere near here or should we just order in the drive-thru?" The driver turns to us to ask us a question.
"Uh... what's a drive-thru?" I asked Lawrence. As I see the restaurant in the distance... it was red and yellow with some type of W in their logo... Wacdonalds it says in there with a capital W...
"I think the princess should experience ordering her own food in the counter so just park here." He says to the driver.
"Alright then." The driver nodded parking us near the entrance of the restaurant.
"Come on. Let's go inside." Lawrence tells me as we both exit the car.
OOh! So this is the fast-food joint we'll be going to? I wonder how the food would taste like?! Well better if I find out myself!
