“Do the dishes?” There were no dishes, and Eli could’ve sworn Jaecar was rolling his eyes at him before he bumped him with his head again. “I don’t speak cat, Jaecar. Are you thirsty? Hungry?”

Jaecar sat, blocking his way, and staring at the refrigerator.

“You’re hungry.”

Jaecar bumped him with his head again.

“I’m hungry?”

He nodded.

Eli wasn’t, but he should be. Opening the refrigerator, he was shocked by how stacked it was. There was food everywhere. In the car, he’d gotten the feeling Jaecar had the basics at home, but this was more than basics. “I think you downplayed the food choices.” His mouth watered at the sight of the bright green lettuce, the tomatoes, and the lunch meat. “Do you want anything?”

Jaecar nodded again.

“Meat? Like raw, bloody meat?”
