A Slight Problem

"Amazing!" Doctor Kagura said as the cat pranced around the office. Izuku had Immediately showed his mother his quirk when he came home. She was so happy she burst into tears and drove all the way to another district to see a new quirk doctor.

Here they met Doctor Kagura who confirmed that this was indeed his quirk. They did extensive tests to find the limits of what he could do and the results were shocking.

"Theoretically, he could manifest anything as long as it's inked on his skin," Doctor Kagura said as the cat curled on her lap enjoying the pats it was getting, "Unfortunately, his quirk only responds to tattoo ink. We tried to use dye-based ink that's found in common pens, but his quirk wouldn't respond."

Inko fidgeted a bit and said, "You mean he has to have tattoos for his quirk to work?"

"Yes," the doctor bluntly stated.

"But what will people think of us if my 13 year old son is covered in tattoos!?" Inko said in a panicked voice.

Izuku meanwhile was distracted with the few new temporary tattoos he got from the quirk doctor. On his left arm sat a tattoo of All Might, while on his right arm had a sword, and above that is a snake. He had tried as hard as possible to get the All Might tattoo to activate, but it seems that his quirk can't create human beings. He sighed as he looked at his sword tattoo and with a flash s katana appeared in his right hand. A smile bloomed on his face as he gave it a couple of test swings.

Inko jumped at her son holding such a dangerous weapon but quickly squashed the urge to say anything. She wouldn't take away any of his happiness. Still, she had to say, "Be careful and don't cut yourself honey."

"Ok mom!" Izuku called as he acted out a movie he had once seen. Varying Kung-fu noises could be heard as the doctor brought Inko to the side and whispered, "Look Mrs. Midoriya, I understand that your worried but we can't choose our Quirks. If he wants to be a hero, he has to have real tattoos."

"Why can't we keep a supply of temporary tattoos on hand and just use those!?" Inko whispered back hurriedly now panicking even more at the thought of permanently inking her son.

Doctor Kagura shook her head saying, "Those things won't work. I mean, look at the cat."

Sure enough, the cat was staggering around as if it was drunk. A couple of seconds later, it collapsed into a pile of ink. Izuku immediately turned around and saw the pile of ink that was the cat and hurried over.

He looked up in confusion, "What happened?"

The doctor sighed and said, "I was afraid this would happen. It looks like using temporary tattoos can only be used once or twice before they break down. It's most likely because of the quality of ink used. Since it's made to be broken down over time, using your quirk speeds that process up by a lot."

Izuku eyes glazed over in thought as he muttered to himself on the possibilities of his quirk. Inko shook her head at the absurdity of it all. She wants to support her son but what kind of mother would that make her by letting him permanently stain his skin. Just as she finished debating with herself, Izuku came back to reality and had a sad look in his eyes. She could see he's come to the same realization that they have.

"Well looks like we're gonna have to invite your Aunt Mitsuki over pretty soon," Inko said in resignation.

"Why?" Izuku said half in confusion and half in fear. If Aunt Mitsuki was coming then that meant Bakugo might be coming as well.

Inko saw the fear in her sons eyes and instantly knew her mistake. Although they hadn't talked about it, she knew that Katsuki was the one doing the majority of the bullying. It's why she hasn't spoken to Mitsuki in 2 years, ever since she last tried to get her to reign in her son. She hurriedly eased his worries and said, "Just Mitsuki, she used to be a tattoo artist before she became a fashion designer."

She smiled as her sons eyes lit up in happiness. They say goodbye to the doctor and make their way home. Izuku immediately heads to his room and opens up, 'Quirk Analysis for the Future Vol. 11'.

Inside he writes everything he learned from the doctor and adds that it would be a good idea to take it up drawing m. This would allow him to design all of his tattoos for his quirk and spark some creativity on what kinds of things to use. He opened his computer and pulled up some drawing tutorials and got to work.

He worked well into the night since it was Friday and he could sleep in tomorrow. When the morning sun rose he finally collapsed into his bed and dozed off.

Inko walked by his room once she woke up and saw him sprawled out in his bed with his computer still on. She glanced at his notebook and saw his sketches. They weren't bad considering he already drew hero's quite a bit for his notebooks. She put the book down and made herself some coffee.

She lazed around for the morning before finally working up the courage to call Mitsuki.

"….Hello?" A woman's voice answered.

"Hey Mitsuki." Inko said in a neutral tone.

"I-Inko!? Hey, it's been a while. What's up?" Mitsuki asked wondering what possessed her once friend to call her. She knew that it was partly her fault that they weren't friends anymore but she still missed her friend.

"I need some help. You mind stopping by?" Inko asked.

"Sure, noon good for you?" Mitsuki asked. She'd love a chance to be able to restart her friendship.

"Yeah, see you then." Inko said with a hint of dread in her voice.

"It's good to hear from you Inko." Mitsuki hesitantly added before hanging up.

Inko sat there looking at her phone with conflicting emotions. Of course she missed her friend too. She tried to continue with her like nothing was wrong, but every time Katsuki would come home that shit-eating grin and say something bad about her son or call him that horrid name, she felt like she'd pull his teeth out of his face.

Not a lot of people know but Inko was rather well known in high school for being the one girl you wouldn't cross. One time a boy cheated on her so she invited him into a closet and twisted his testicles into a knot with her quirk. She told him he might want to get that checked out and left him there. He was lucky that he could still father children after that, but no one messes with her after that.

Mitsuki understood because she grew up with her, some days it was like sitting with a bomb right next to you waiting for her to do something to her son.

Noon came fast as Inko tidied things up, Izuku was up and working in his notebook still, when the doorbell rang. Inko took a deep breath and opened the door to see her old friend.

"Hey Inkky." She said with a weak smile.

"Mitsuki." Inko said curtly and showed her in. Mitsuki had a hurt look on her face as she sat across from Inko with a cup of tea.

"Izuku's Quirk came in." Inko said in a quiet voice.

Mitsuki looked at her friend in shock before a huge grin came over face as she excitedly said, "Inko that's wonderful!"

"Yes but there's a problem," Inko sighed. Mitsuki looked confused so Inko explained exactly what Izuku's quirk was.

"So that's why no one was able to find out what it was," She said with a look of realization, "So you want me to give Izuku some tattoos?"

"Yes, they will all be his designs that's he currently working on. If you do this for us, we can go back to being friends." Inko said.

Mitsuki expression brightened considerably, "Absolutely, I'll even help him out with the latest fashion to help him show them off!"

Inko held up her hand to stop Mitsuki from going off on a rant, "There will be some ground rules."

Mitsuki calmed down and nodded listening intently.

"One, we will only meet here. I don't know if I'd be able to trust myself at your house."

Mitsuki looked a little awkward at that and nodded agreeing.

"Two, you will never bring Katsuki here without my express permission. I don't care if even Izuku asks you, I won't have him in my house." Inko said with a fierce look on her face this was non-negotiable. Mitsuki looked a bit hesitant but understood and agreed with what was said.

"Three, you will help Izuku become a great hero. I know your aware of what Katsuki does to train, there 2 years left until U.A.'s entrance exams and I want my son to be read." Loath she was to admit it Katsuki was very strong. She knows that Mitsuki arranged only the best for her son, and she knows that she has no problems with money like she did.

Mitsuki agreed to this quite easily, she didn't mind giving Izuku a copy of Katsuki's daily workout routine.

"All right Mit-Chan let's go see if Izuku has any ideas for you to start with." Inko said with a smile, glad that the business was done with and she could welcome her friend back.

Mitsuki cackled and said, "You'll have to beat the girls off with a stick when I'm done with him!"
