Chapter 5: A Prehistory Tour

I was attempting to find some way to go to another continent in a way to find my crewmate if they were still alive and I have a fair belief they are because all of them had their space suits still on which showed how their vitals were either healthy or sick. they were all pulsing like usual so that meant they were either alive or there was a malfunction, I was planning on using the escape pod as a boat because it was shaped like one so why not do that. I get it into the right shore and got it ready but had no idea where I would be coming from so I had to think and finally I figured out a safe plan, I would use the tracking device that would pinpoint your location and the place you started from which in form created a mapping device. we used this to get from earth to Methuselah which I forgot to check until now and saved the data we collected, I realized the plan was hopefully easier than I thought and I thought of how big this place could be. when I packed the food and wolpertinger which I have decided to name Laura, I began the voyage across seas like a bubble across a bathtub, it took about 7 hours for me to see some sort of land and I was a bit impressed it was much larger than the land I crashed on. "land ho!" I muttered because it had been very boring except for Laura's occasional need for food and water as well as nibbling on the sticks I brought with me that acted like oars. when we were about 100 meters from shore the makeshift boat rocked sideways like something brushed against it, I peaked over the side and saw a fairly large shadow which I was fearing was a shark but it had no visible top fin which usually would be like step 1 in "oh crap it's a shark" so what could this be? I had absolutely no idea what type of murky monsters would take off toes dipped in the water so I just sighed and went back to rowing the boat. the boat stopped at the beach and Laura flapped her way out of it and onto the sand which turned out to be black sand and I looked back in the water and caught a glimpse of whatever that was and my jaw dropped and my eyes popped like balloons when I realized what the shape was. It was an arthrodire placoderm also known as a Dunkleosteus which was one of the first bony predator fish in the devonian period before sharks ever existed, they were very well extinct on earth but when I saw that armored fish I screamed which alarmed laura but she kept on digging in the sand like a dog. this was the weirder part of this world because this meant the waters had minerals these fish needed to live off of as well...I need to study more rather than explore the planet. I was about to trek into the land before me but laura began to yip for me so I turn around to see what she needed "what is it laura?" I muttered as I knelt down and she dropped something from her mouth, it was a piece of amber! way out here! "an amber! theres a mosquito inside too!" I said as I pet laura on the back because those antlers were very sharp now. "perfect, this is a really interesting discovery" I say as I get up and place it in my pocket and begin exploring the land looming over me and laura, right off the bat I notice plants look a bit different like having more slits on the leaves much like pineleaves. these leaves and more accurately the plants in general where very familiar to me because I swear I had seen them during my first trip to the science museum, except today I was seeing them in base form? this was stranger than the bluish ones. I was starting to think I was running in circles because the foliage was the same position everytime I came to a different space but I was thankfully put back on track when I found this large indentation on the ground like a pancake. I knelt down and so did laura and she sniffed the indentations interior while I tried to figure out what shape this was and I didn't have an idea so I began to walk away in the direction of another indentation and now I'm realizing they are footprints. I began freaking out because what if this was something dangerous we were coming across so I kept extra precautions in looking for it, I come to a field and I find something dead and recently dead from a large bite taken out of it's back with a chunk of spine torn out, something large bit this thing so I walk over to the other side and see its front and realized what creature it was which was one of my favorites as a kid. it was a Sinoceratops which I used to draw every week when I was 6 and now seeing it reduced from a hard headed creature to mere meal to something probably larger, I used my pocket knife to carve off a horn while clenching my teeth even though it was dead I hoped it was really true because I hated animals in pain despite that being how life works sometimes. I took off the horn which was kind of sharp at the end so I had an idea and made a makeshift dagger with nearby stretchy grass and twigs. i went looking for laura and saw she was eating some moss which I had no idea she could eat but there she was nibbling away at it like crumbs. I decided to test out how sharp this dagger really was so I went over to a large thick branch in front of us and swung it, that branch was clipped clean off the tree and fell on my foot. I jumped and held my foot in pain jumping like they do in cartoons when they touch fire and kept rubbing my hurt foot with ointment and bandaids. laura was on my shoulder after I applied the ointment and I began to exit the forest and I heard LOUD crunching like a shark biting into a coconut next to a microphone and along with that came the tearing like you would hear when someone was ripping paper followed by a wet splat and more chewing. I swallowing in anxiousness as I walked forwards cutting more branches and pushing some out of the way when I finally found the source of the loud chewing which made my blood run absolutely cold, it was something big and looming which I was attempted to think was a Tyrannosaurus Rex However it was different, it had white scales and was around the size of a gigantosaurus and longer arms. "oh my god, what is that?" I kept thinking as I covered my face in absolute confusion as I just watched it feast on another Sinoceratops like it was a Thanksgiving Turkey. I began taking notes on it and noticed that there was not just one, there was 3 smaller ones I didn't notice tearing at its tail, the youngest one seemed to be having the most trouble with the meal because it was like a puppy tugging on a tassel. "they seem to be babies" I thought as I watched and wrote this creature down in my pad as the second new entity that has never stepped foot on earth, I decided to head back the other way in order to go back home and it only took 7 minutes to get back to the boat and started back to the crash site. "that...was very weird" I said as I sighed from exhaustion because I was holding my gasps just in case it turned around and made me and laura into desert, i got back to base and decided I would take a big nap but not after laura began yipping so I look over again and froze. "a-an egg? here?" i thought as I look near the shore we went off of and it indeed was very damp meaning it was in the water recently, so I picked it up and thought it could potentially be alive but then figured it was impossible since an egg in such cold environment couldn't survive since it needed warmth so I decided to take it inside with me and wrap it in blankets JUUSSSTTT in case it somehow survives. I hope i can find at least 1 of my crewmates.
