"Are you flaunting your IQ?" Raven teased, a playful glint in her eye.
Hank's cheeks tinged with a faint flush, whether from shyness or some other emotion, remained a mystery.
"Alright, let's go check out what Hank has been saying!" The anticipation was palpable as everyone was eager to unravel the secrets of Hank's brainwave magnifier.
They ascended from the elevator, greeted by a lush patch of green grass. A massive spherical structure, towering over ten meters, stood before them.
"This is the fruit of my labor, Cerebro. Initially designed for remotely piloting fighter jets, turns out... regular folks' brainwaves can't activate this gadget."
Guided by Hank, they entered the sphere through a gangway. Inside, a labyrinth of lines and electrodes adorned the walls, accompanied by blinking indicators. At the center, a seat beckoned, crowned by a helmet with an intricate network of wires.
"I've got a bad feeling about this," Charles admitted, settling into the designated chair while Hank orchestrated the intricate dance of wires and switches, a wry smile playing on his lips.
"Charles, maybe it's time for a head shave," Alex suggested, a mischievous grin accompanying the proposal.
"Absolutely not! My head will remain hair-clad!" Charles declared firmly.
"You're still young, but someday you'll discover a bald head is the way to go!" Alex offered an earnest advice with a smile.
Placing a hand on Charles' back, Alex turned to Hank. "Hank, slap that helmet on him. Charles and I combine our psychic might and see what happens."
"You have psychic abilities too?" Hank's surprise was evident. "Alex, I thought you and Eric were all about magnetic control."
"Nope, Alex here's got a unique talent. He can copy the abilities of other mutants," Charles clarified.
"No wonder! Back in the concentration camp..." Eric realized.
"Haha, Eric, we're brothers," Alex responded with a warm smile.
"Yes, brothers and sisters, all of us mutants are family," Eric beamed and affirmed.
"Now, let's expand our family," Charles declared, reaching for his helmet and fitting it snugly on his head.
"Brace yourself, Charles. I'm firing up the contraption," Hank announced, hand poised over the start button. With resolve, he declared, "Now!"
The room crackled to life with energy, arcs of electricity creating a dazzling display.
Alex funneled his psychic power into Charles's abilities, and in their minds, a vast starry sky unfolded.
It was the brilliance of life!
The grandeur of the soul unfolded against the cosmic canvas!
A myriad of stars shimmered, converging into a breathtaking galaxy. The majority gleamed in pristine white, representing the ordinary human populace, while a smaller yet distinctive cluster burned in vibrant red, symbolic of the Mutants.
Mutants, graced with extraordinary gifts, bore a profound sense of distinction from their ordinary counterparts.
"Anguish, terror, sorrow, solitude! My brethren, I shall seek you out! Together, we shall forge a haven, a sanctuary that belongs to Mutants!" Charles's voice trembled with impassioned sincerity as he connected with the profound emotions coursing through Mutants across the globe. Tears brimmed in his eyes, mirrors reflecting the depth of his empathic understanding.
"So, that's why Charles is hailed as the 'Soul Sovereign'?" Alex pondered, his comprehension of Charles's abilities deepening. Charles possessed the remarkable capacity to resonate fully with the emotions of others, perceiving their grief, elation, rage, and trepidation.
"It's no surprise that Charles will evolve into such a formidable figure in the future. He's not merely a Mutant; he stands as a compassionate revolutionary and trailblazer," Alex sighed, moved profoundly by the revelation.
However, Alex acknowledged that he was not Charles. While Charles harbored lofty ideals and a nurturing heart, Alex found contentment in staying true to his own identity.
Shortly after, Charles opened his eyes, radiating a brilliant smile.
"I've found them!"
Switching off the brainwave amplifier, he removed the helmet, sharing the euphoric news. "I've located them! Many companions await!"
"Fantastic!" The group erupted in jubilation.
"Why delay? Let's embark on the quest to find our kin," Alex proposed, his face illuminated by a jubilant grin.
"Yes, let's reunite with our brethren!" The group ventured forth, their hearts overflowing with genuine happiness, knowing that there were more kindred spirits waiting to be discovered.
