Lucas closed in on the merchant caravans. He had used his magicules to mask himself and sneak close to them.
If there was someone of Rank C and above, they would immediately know that someone was sneaking close. But Lucas was cautious and despite coming close, he found no hints whatsoever of anyone coming close to him.
Lucas got close to the last caravan and over there, he found four servants walking on foot, a carriage driver slowly guiding the horses to move and two people sitting inside the caravan along with some goods.
The four servants were thankfully walking at the sides and not behind the carriage where the entry door was.
Lucas got close to the door and instead of immediately opening it, he first looked inside to see who were the people present.
He found two middle-aged men inside wearing a brown colored robe with an insignia badge of some sort on their chest.
Lucas could figure out that they belonged to some organization. What organization, he couldn't tell since the anime and novel didn't dwell much on such useless things and only limited information was given.
Lucas thought on how he should enter inside. Should he open the door and walk in or should he…
Lucas put his hand against the door and with the help of the magicules in his body, he vibrated the ones in the surrounding. The vibration frequencies were too high and this eventually caused Lucas's hand to pass through the door.
In his past life, Lucas had read an article on Quantum Tunnelling. What it said was that, basically a particle could, instead of hitting a surface and bouncing back, pass through it sometimes. It was obviously a much in depth topic but the general idea of it was that.
Lucas had no idea how to do that, but he opted for a similar downgraded version of the same concept. The vibrations he created caused the molecules of surface in front of him, the carriage door, to vibrate and spread out, giving way to his hand to pass through.
His hand had a magicule barrier around it and thus his hand didn't break apart to enter inside.
It took Lucas just a few seconds to enter inside fully but roughly 3000 MP was expended.
Lucas immediately charged at the two men and hit one of the men's neck to knock him out and slashed the throat of the other man with his rusty sword.
The man wanted to scream but he couldn't because his voice box got cut.
He struggled to breathe and fell on the ground from his seat.
He was about to thrash around to call for help but Lucas immediately cut all his limbs and thrust his sword into the man's skull, eventually killing him.
Lucas felt no remorse, no pity, no empathy, and also no care for the life of the man he had killed so brutally.
He also felt no disgust or hesitation in killing the man since for the past two weeks, he had been constantly killing monsters. Some monsters died in a much more brutal way than this man here.
To Lucas, killing this man was no different than killing a monster and killing a monster was no different than cutting grass or a tree.
Life was unfair and Lucas had been made aware of it countless times in his past life. He would've become an emotionless and heartless bastard had he not died in his past life and had he not been reunited with his family in this life.
But despite the reunion, his past life experiences and coming into contact with monsters and strangers made Lucas become heartless anyway. He wasn't emotionless now since he had a loving mother and sister and someone he could go home to, but he sure was heartless when it came to the strangers.
The lives of other people did not matter.
Lucas wouldn't have killed the man when he entered the carriage had the man not chosen to scream.
When he entered, he planned to knock both of them unconscious but he was a bit late to reach the second man and thus had to take his sword out and slash him so that he wouldn't scream.
Just for this one particular reason, the man's life ended. Had he decided to stay put, nothing of such sorts would've happened.
The blood and brain matter was fresh and there was no foul smell yet. Lucas knew he had to hurry as within a few minutes, the decomposition would occur and the rotting smell would permeate through the nostrils of everyone present there.
Lucas grabbed the unconscious man and pinched a certain nerve right beside the C2 or axis bone in the cervical vertebrae region of the spine.
The man felt great stimulus from this and jolted awake. Lucas immediately put the hilt of his sword inside his mouth and stopped him from saying anything or screaming.
He hit behind the man's knee joint, making him fall on his knees.
He had his upper body supported by holding his collar.
Lucas grabbed the man's hair from behind and bent down to look him dead in the eyes. With the sword hilt still in the mouth of the man, he said in a serious tone,
"Scream once and that will be your outcome."
He made the man look at his companion's slaughtered body.
The man was about to puke looking at such a grotesque scene in front of him but Lucas pinched his oesophagus from the area just above his sternum and stopped his regurgitation.
Tears fell from the man's eyes as he saw his companion slaughtered worse than an animal.
He closed his eyes but streams of tears still kept falling down.
Lucas didn't care for the man's emotions and proceeded to dig the hilt of his sword deeper into his mouth, causing the man to open his eyes in shock and see Lucas.
Noticing he had opened his eyes, Lucas said in the same serious tone as before,
"I'll ask, you'll answer."
