Bow was no ordinary youth. In a world where the potential for magic lay dormant within every soul, he had awakened something extraordinary, a mana core. a reservoir of untapped mystical energy that set him apart from his peers.

The small border town Stormholds Keep, could be called nothing short of a fortress with tall cobblestone walls reaching at least 6 meters high, streets of cobble and timbered houses, despite that the residents weren't all that wealthy let alone noble. Because of how close the town was to the border of the Eldrindor empire it was incredibly remote with a weeks travel by horse to the nearest town and a two month trip to the closest capital city. With a small population of about 600 the magical density was horrendously low, not birthing a mage from the town in the last 150 years.

For a boy to awaken a mana core in such a remote town at such a young age was almost unheard of, the village hadn't seen such a phenomenon in generations. The last mage from the remote outpost awakened at the age of 41, awakening at such a late age was only possible in a mana density of an incredibly remote place. Living in a large city if you hadn't awakened before 25, the chances of doing so after where near 0. The higher the population of a town or city determined the magical density, excluding special cases such as small towns near magic ore mining facilities. Magic was increasingly rare the farther from large settlements you travel, a realm ruled by those fortunate enough to be born into a large town or better yet a capital city, or of course those who had the coin to purchase the services of skilled enchanters. For a middle-class lad like Bow living out in the countryside to harbor the spark of magic within him was a secret that could change his life forever.
