Olympia held her breath, their masked faces were very close to each other. He pulled her to stand up straight still with his hand on her back.
"The way you pronounce my name is strange" Mystic noticed that her heart-shaped lips parted slightly as if she wanted to say something before he did.
Olympia felt intimidated, she felt that he wasn't just a vampire and even if he was a vampire he was a powerful one. She felt that she was in danger but she knew that nothing could happen to her since they were in a ball. "What do you mean by strange?" She questioned him.
"Strange as in, the fear that lingers in your angelic sweet voice. You don't have to fear me, or do you think I will hurt you?" He asked her.
"I don't care, I don't want to be involved with you which means that I am not getting married to you" Olympia uttered confidently and angrily.
"It's not a request" Mystic hummed, pushed her, and made her twirl. His hands interlocked behind him as he watched Olympia's gown spread as she twirled. He walked towards her and caught her by her waist while she placed her hands on his broad shoulders.
"What do you mean by that?" Olympia asked angrily.
"I suggest you don't think about it, you will get a headache and I don't want that," He said, he smirked behind his mask.
"You being the king, it doesn't mean you have power over me," Olympia said and shrugged then looked away from his dark eyes. She felt that he held her waist firmly as if she was a delicate flower that would break.
Mystic gazed upon her neck down to her shoulders and collar bones, her skin was pale milky white. Her neck looked inviting and wondered how her golden phoenix blood would taste, her blood was a treasure, and he wouldn't want to use it recklessly.
"You don't have a reason for not getting married to me" He chuckled. Olympia looked back at him, her heart-shaped lips curved into a shrewd smile then she looked away. Her eyes met a couple of guests who were gazing upon them with curiosity and shock. It made Olympia wonder if they knew that he was the king.
"I have a lot of reasons Mystic" Olympia looked back at him as if he was her worst enemy. An amusement smile curved Mystic's lips behind the mask. Asher was right about her, she wasn't like a golden phoenix at all. To be frank, he would have killed her right from the beginning when she left his hand empty if she were another but he wasn't offended at all, he could tame her and he was sure that she would surprise him.
"We all have our reasons for everything, just like I have my reasons for wanting to marry you, Olympia," Olympia's shrewd smile disappeared, her lips parted, she realized that the way he pronounced her name strangely affected her and she didn't like it. Her expression turned into a frown.
"You must be like everyone else, mezmorized because of my beauty but hates my personality. You cannot fool me, I will make your life a living hell" She threatened confidently.
"Don't worry, we will get married and you can freely make my life a living hell," He leaned his masked face close to hers. "And I am not getting married to you because of your beauty, it's part of the reason though"
Olympia gasped as she noticed that his attention was on her exposed neck, shoulders, and collar bone. Her face turned red in embarrassment, disgust, and anger.
Mystic chuckled deeply.
"Pervert, you are a pervert" Olympia accused and frowned.
"You didn't call the others who look at you while licking their lips perverts," Mystic said nonchalantly. Unknown to Olympia, Mystic had signaled Asher to wipe out anyone who stared lustfully at his future wife and a lot had been killed that night.
"Still you are a pervert" Olympia scoffed. He chuckled as if he was flattered by a compliment and it made Olympia's frown deepen.
"You seem to be enjoying this conversation, but I am not, I am not getting married to you. You are the king and there are a lot of fishes in the sea and if you don't want humans, you can have one of your own, you can't come into my life and change everything" The words rolled out of her tongue rapidly mixed with anger.
Mystic couldn't help but smile at the girl, she spoke her mind freely unlike women who wanted to flatter him and laugh at anything he was saying. Even if he was threatening them, they would laugh and they always ended up as his meals. They all wanted him, they wanted power, riches, and a big name but this girl wanted a smooth life even though she was surrounded by so many dangers that she had not noticed.
"Your life has changed ever since you arrived in his world, Olympia," Said the man, "Do you seriously forget your identity?"
"I can never forget my identity, you don't have to put your nose in my life, it won't do you good" She replied firmly.
"You know, all those humans including your parents, they are pesky little things, greedy little things, you don't know what they can do" He uttered with a whisper.
"You sound like you hate humans," Olympia said.
"I hate everyone only specifically," Said the man, "Everyone is here for their ulterior motives, some are here to meet partners, some are here to meet me, some are here to kill me, some are here to fill their bellies"
Olympia immediately remembered her mooncakes. She was one of the people who wanted to fill their bellies.
"You praise yourself, it doesn't make me dislike you less" Olympia scoffed.
"Praise?" Mystic asked with a deep chuckle. "I am glad you don't hate me"
"Hate is a strong word" Olympia smiled sarcastically at him then sighed deeply. She didn't understand where all these would go, she just wanted to go back home at the moment. She didn't trust the fully masked man in front of her at all, yet he intrigued her. Suddenly, like her prayers were answered, the music stopped.
"Thank you for the conversation and dancing future wife," He released her and bowed. "Olympia," He called, which made her upcoming frown disappear.
Olympia immediately took some steps away. "We will meet again" His deep voice echoed in her ear.
"I am pretty sure we won't," Olympia whispered and swallowed hard.
"Surprisingly, you doubt my capabilities," The man said calmly.
"Please stay away from me, I am not getting married to you" and without hesitation, she turned away. She clutched her ball gown, inhaled deeply, and looked back at him. His unique dark eyes finally blinked, and she noticed a smile behind that mask. She looked away and walked hurriedly into the crowd.
She walked out of the ballroom, gasped for air then frowned. She was set to find those mooncakes, find her parents and get out of this castle. She looked at her right side, there were so many people in the large hallway, conversing with each other, then she looked at her left side recognizing that that was the way the maid with the tray of mooncakes followed earlier.
"Mooncakes here I come," She said with a smile and took a step.
"Olympia!" A familiar voice exclaimed with both fear and surprise.
Olympia turned seeing both her parents approaching her, her mother looked worried as if she had cried earlier and her father looked furious.
They finally met her, Luana embraced her tightly, released her, and kissed her forehead. Olympia was flabbergasted but she was focused on her furious-looking father.
"I didn't do anything I promised, I was in the ballroom, I just got out" She defended herself as if she was being accused.
Luana disengaged from her and looked at Patrick nervously.
"Did I do something wrong? I am sorry if I lost you two, I wasn't paying attention" Olympia admitted nervously as if she was being scolded by Patrick.
"You caused all this, you will reap it" Patrick unexpectedly growled at Olympia.
"Patrick doesn't say that," Luana said, at the brink of tears.
Olympia was confused.
"I am sorry, I didn't try finding you two because I was sure that you were somewhere in the ballroom, Mrs. Jonas asked about you two too" Olympia blurted, defending herself and bowed her head apologetically.
Luana looked at her daughter with pity while Patrick looked even angrier. Luana held his hand and caught his attention.
"Don't look at her like that, she must not find out anything now, not yet" Luana mouthed.
Patrick gritted his teeth and nodded at her.
"Let's go home," He whispered.
Olympia lifted her head with widened eyes. "But I haven't eaten my mooncakes"
Patrick and Luana looked at themselves in shock then back at their daughter. "You haven't?!" Luana exclaimed.
"I haven't, I was occupied with something. Please let me stay for a while" Olympia begged.
"Okay, hurry" Patrick unexpectedly said.
Olympia almost screamed in shock and asked if her father had been possessed. Normally, he would drag her to the carriage or provoke her into sulking but he was here agreeing to her demand.
Olympia smiled, she couldn't miss this chance, she turned away and walked away into the dark hallway.
Patrick and Luana looked at themselves, Patrick's frown returned and Luana's worried expression returned.
