Chapter 4

I woke up hearing shuffling around me.

I opened my eyes and with blurred vision saw Xavier getting ready.

I stretched the sleep away as I got out of the bed and went into the bathroom to get ready as well.

I wore a big hoddie that reached my knees. I didn't really wore any bottoms.

My ring was sparkling bright in the dim light of the closet.

I stared at it for a while thinking about yesterday's event.

Why didn't Xavier devoured me the way everyone was telling me?

Did he really save me from the insults by hurting himself by the razor?

I am pretty sure the sheets are going to be send to Stephen and Maria for proof.

Xavier might not be just as bad as I thought he would be.

From the peripheral view I saw Xavier entering so quickly walked out.

I went into the kitchen and started preparing breakfast for us.

I made some french toasts and bacon.

Just as I was going to make some coffee my husband entered the kitchen and said, "I would have black coffee."

I severed the coffee and breakfast to him and myself and started digging in.

Just as we completed our breakfast Xavier said, " We have to go to my parents house for lunch."

I quickly cleaned the table and the dishes.

Xavier entered the kitchen once again but this time he had guests with him.

He called me over as I was drying my hands.

"This is my second in command Matteo and his wife Bianca." He introduced.

I looked at them and smiled.

Matteo just nodded and went off with Xavier to the study.

Bianca smiled in return and said, "Hey, I know it would be a lot to take in as this family is a bit complicated but you will get used to it. And I am there if you want to talk to or need any advice."

"Thank you", I said feeling a bit shy.

"Come on let's go through your closet and select an outfit for you."

We did choose a dress for me but we were not able to have a chat and get to know each other as Matteo took her and left.

I was kind of sad but then started to get ready for the lunch party.

Just as I was getting ready Xavier walked inside our closet and started changing.

He was standing some steps behind me.

I could see him change through the dresser's mirror.

I quickly looked away the minute he saw me staring.

I was so embarrassed for being caught while checking him out and concentrated on my make-up.

I could feel him staring at me the whole time he changed.

He then came up to me and hold on to my shoulders.

"You will not leave my side when we are there in any circumstances. You will have either me or Bianca or Maria besides you... Are we clear?"

I nodded my head.

"You will not speak to any male or anyone you don't know."

I nodded again but felt him putting pressure on my shoulders.

"Use your words", He demanded.

"Yes I understand", I replied to him quickly.

He lets go and went out of the closet.

We were on our way to the lunch when all of a sudden Xavier's phone rings.

He answers it and starts talking in Italian very fast.

I didn't understand a word as I wasn't really that fluent in it.

I just minded my business and stared out of the window with his voice in the background.

We reached the Valentine Mansion in only an hour and half. It wasn't that long. The mansion was surrounded with trees and mountains. It was a giant house which stood in the middle of nowhere.

It was kind of creepy to think of living here at night.

The mansion was really enchanting though. It looked like something from a fairy tail. The outside of it was just as glamorous as the inside.

Inside the walls were beige- white colored and the creamy marble floors shined brightly.

There were big Chandeliers all over the place and many paintings were hanging.

I even saw a photo frame of Stephen and Maria with both their boys.

There were big paintings of the Valentine ancestors.

One of the frame was empty so I assumed it was gonna be filled by me and my husband's picture.

But there was one interesting frame which was covered with a royal blue curtain. The curtain covered the entire frame so no one can really see what the picture was about or whose it was.

But I was curious to look under it.

What could it be ? Was it a secret from everyone or did they know what it was....

We entered the dining room and saw a huge table with so many peoples.

Now that I think about it , I made a good decision to wear this dress. All these people looked prim and proper.

I even spotted my parents on the table. Everyone was waiting for us to start their meal.

Xavier sat on the right side of Stephen. I sat next to him facing Maria and Max.

I smiled in their direction to which they returned.

Bianca sat next to me with Matteo.

Everyone proceeded to bow their heads and pray before starting their meal.

Xavier prayed out loud with us following after.

After praying Xavier took a piece of steak and cut them into 2 halves. He then gave me one piece and started to dig in.

When he completed his first bite I started my meal and looked up to see everyone still waiting. I quickly chewed my food and swallowed. The people started with their meal as well and again the hall was filled with loud noises.

I wasn't really a fan of steak so just took short bites and drank a lot of juice or eat the side dishes more.

Maria noticed it and asked," Are you alright? It seems you aren't really enjoying your food."

I shook my head and said,"It's nothing like that .The food is good. It's just that I am not hungry. "

"Oh... I thought you might be starving due to yesterday's hectic day and sleepless night."

"Oh yeah, both of you look just fine. Was last night not long enough? Or did it even happen?" Stephen asked with one eyebrow raised towards us.

"Father, I think you have already gotten your answer if you have seen our sheets so just drop the subject." Xavier exclaimed.

Stephen just smirked and continued with his meal.

I felt Xavier's hand on my thigh gripping it tightly as we were having the meal.

I think people saw it and stopped staring at us. By the time everyone was done the males went to do their own think while the ladies cleaned the table and proceeded to sit in the outside lawn tables having there teas.

All the ladies were sitting and gossiping around about their husbands and their families.

I was sitting between Maria and Bianca.

The ladies around us were asking me about how the wedding went or about my family.

I noticed a mother and daughter sitting at the corner of the table, glaring at me the whole time.

The girl looked about my age or even younger.

For sometime I ignored them but now it was uncomfortable to sit with them glaring.

So I did what any women would do.

I glared back at them.

They were surprised at first but I sat there head held high and glared at them. They quickly looked away not being able to look me in the eye.

Noticing this Bianca smiled at me and gave thumbs up to me. Not only did she notice it but the women around as well saw it and were smiling to themselves.

I think they didn't really like them either as they praised me and were looking proud of their Donna for standing up for herself.

The topics were really out of order as the ladies jumped from one gossip to another real quick. I joined in from time to time but afterwards just nodded and laughed along.

Bianca was not really into this after a while so she got up and started moving around and ended up going to the bathroom to freshen up.

I followed her as I wasn't really into the talk as well.

I saw her sitting on the counter on her phone playing games and on social medias.

"Hey, don't really mind that mother and daughter pair. They just don't know when to step back. They don't even care that they are no longer invited here. They just shamelessly appear at the events and act like they rule the place." Bianca said while I was washing my hands.

"No, it's fine. But what's up with them? Why were they glaring at me when I didn't do anything to them?"

"Oh it's just that they thought Stella, the daughter, can get Xavier to like her and marry her instead of you. She failed miserably of course and was caught by Maria snooping around the house and their office. They were gonna collect something to blackmail Don into marrying the bitch."

"Oh."

"Yeah and when they knew they lost against you, they just started hating you. But please don't let them faze you or they might think that Stella still has some opportunity."

I just nodded.

We walked out of the bathroom and were on our way outside when all of a sudden a man stepped in front of us or more like in front of me causing me to stumble some steps back.

"Oh my, look it's the new Donna. I don't think we have been introduced.", He said

Bianca stood next to me glaring at the man but didn't really say anything and was typing something on her phone.

"I am Tabia. Your name must be Luna right ?", He asks.

I just nod and take a step back just as he moves forward.

"Oh no you don't really have to be scared of me. The person really scary here is your husband." He says while laughing.

All of a sudden we hear footsteps approaching us. And an arm is wrapped around me making me fall into Xavier's left side.

He looked angry and ready to explode.

"Ahhh The Don is here. Don't worry, we were just having some basic talks like introducing each other. I think she should know about Don's third in command." Tabia smirked.

Xavier just stood there with a strong grip on me.

Tabia's eyes flipped from the arm which was wrapped around me to Xavier's face.

His face went blank for a second before saying," Well it's true what I heard about the Donna's beauty. She really is pretty. I think you should make sure that you keep her hidden from the world or someone might snatch her away."

With that he turned and left the scene.

I just stood there watching him leave before turning to Xavier.

He didn't look happy. I think I am so going to get punished when we get home.

"We will talk about this when we reach home." He said.
