Civilization

Gliding over the beautiful landscape, I couldn't wait to enjoy everything this world had to offer me. Eventually, my arms gave out and I had to land.

Dropping down I followed a path hoping that it would lead me to the Outskirt Stable. I could've used my power but I didn't want to bump into travelers while I ran at 300 mph.

Meeting a peddler I did a quick transaction, offering a cut of bear meat he offered me 200 rupees. Not knowing if that was a fair trade, I increased the price to 300 rupees. Instead of refusing, he offered a counter deal of 250. After a bit of haggling, we finalized the price at 263 rupees. He handed me 2 silver, 1 purple, 2 blue, and 3 green pieces.

Perhaps because he is a peddler, he is well versed in arithmetic. Before parting ways I asked if Outskirt Stables was along this path, he said yes, it should be in the city. I didn't quite understand that last part, what did he mean by in the city?

With my purse a little heavier I continue along the road.

As I walked towards my destination I could hear a horse-drawn wagon approaching from behind. I moved to the side so that I wouldn't obstruct the path, stopping beside me the driver asked if I wanted a lift to Outskirt. I nodded yes. Getting on he asked me where I was from, I said the south. He then asked my name. His name was Jroid, he just came from a small village near the southeast of here buying their local specialties. He asked me if I was a traveler, I nodded yes. Seeing that I wasn't the type that talked much, he gave up on starting a conversation.

After an hour on the road, I could see some sort of large structure in the distance. As we got closer it revealed itself to be a booming city. This wasn't in the game, there were no cities this massive. I asked Jroid the name of the city, he said it was Outskirt City.

'WHAT! The stable is a city!' (Link)

Nearing the walls there were multiple lines, we lined up in the line for wagons and carriages. Once at the entrance the guards inspected the wagon, asking for proof of identification I got a little nervous. Thankfully Jroid had one, the guard took it and went into his office. After that, they let us into the city.

The streets were filled with life, I saw young children playing as well as a street vendor selling sweets. A few gerudos were mixed in as well. I was so excited to explore this city that I forgot what I came here to do. I thanked Jroid and gave him a blue rupee, bidding me farewell he drove off.

Going to the street vendor I looked at what he was selling, it looked like crepes with yellow cream topped with a variety of diced fruit. I asked him how much for one, he said 3 rupees. Giving him the exact amount I purchased my first item since coming to this world.

Taking a bite I could taste the sweet cream and fresh fruit. Finishing it I walked about the city. There were stores selling ordinary goods such as furniture and clothing as well as stores that sold various weapons.

Looking at my clothing I needed new ones, my current outfit had holes and was well worn out. I looked like a homeless beggar. Going to a nearby clothing shop a gentleman came to my assistance, I asked if he had any premade clothing. He said yes, directing me to a section I looked through what they had. Grabbing a few that looked my size I asked if he had a fitting room. He showed me a small room with a curtain. Trying on all the clothes I decided to buy 5 pairs of shirts and pants. I also didn't want to be barefoot anymore so I also got a pair of shoes. Bringing it to the counter he said the total was 110 rupees. Seeing how much a crepe cost, I used that to estimate average wages and thought that the price was fair.

With some new clothes, I now needed a place to stay for the night. Looking at the signs I was surprised that I could read it. Going to an establishment called the Moongrass Inn I was greeted with a warm reception. I asked how much a room was, she said 20 rupees a night. Handing over the purple rupee she gave me a red and 2 blue pieces. Are all citizens well educated?

Giving me a key she said my room was up the stairs. Opening the door I saw that the room was barren, the only piece of furniture was the bed. Laying down I could smell that the bedsheets weren't washed on a regular basis.

'Hmm, Jroid had an id card I wonder where I can get that issued' (Link)

At the front desk, I asked where I could get an id. She told me to go to the clock tower, turn right and there should be a government building where I can get identification issued. Thanking her she blushed a little and was sorry that she couldn't guide me since no one would be able to watch the front desk.

Looking up I could see a clock tower in the distance.

Walking a few blocks I passed an alleyway, in the corner of my eyes I saw 3 suspicious figures looming in the dark. Going back I saw them kicking something, as I got closer to the beings I could hear the whimper of a child. With anger in my eyes, I shouted at them. They stopped what they were doing and stared at me like I was the maniac.

How could they do this to a child, pulling out the savage lynel sword I wanted to kill them. Out of nowhere, an electric bolt came from behind me, hitting one of the figures they fainted. Putting the sword away I turned around and saw a beautiful hylian girl clad in full plate armor. She looked like a knight, with her blonde hair and green eyes she caught my attention quickly. Behind her were 2 other knights. However, what shocked me most was that she was in possession of a thunder blade. Though not impossible to obtain they were rare, especially for those without a Sheikah Slate.

"You 2, don't move and lay on the ground" (Hylian Girl)

With a voice of authority the 2 still conscience people laid on the ground without putting up a fight.

Rushing to the child she began to console her, pulling out a blood-red elixir she emptied the bottle in the child's mouth. In the next moment, the child was full of life.

The hylian girl turned to me.

"Thank you for risking your life for the sake of this child" (Hylian Girl)

I wouldn't say risking my life, actually if you hadn't shown up I might've killed them.

Still what a coincidence, a knight showing up out of the blue. I asked what she was doing around here. Apparently many gangsters were robbing nearby stores since they were stocked up for the blood moon. She was tasked with patrolling this area.

Turning back to the child she asked the child where her parents were, the child said she was an orphan and that those 3 were mugging her. Feeling sorry for the child the hylian girl asked if she wanted a better life. The young child didn't understand what she meant, the knight explained to the child that she could join the knight order and become a knight. Meals will be taken care of and you will also be educated.

Is this possible? Don't you need to be of nobility to acquire the rank of a knight?

"Lady Lowis not again, this is the 5th child this month. You can't just allow anyone to join the knight order, especially commoners." (Knight 1)

"This child is in need, what better than to allow her to join the knight order and allow her to serve this city in the future" (Lowis)

The knight gave up and allowed Lowis to do as she pleased, she must be of high status.

Holding the hand of the child she came up to me.

"Please could you tell me your name" (Lady Lowis)

"It's Link" (Link)

With her face turned down I barely heard what she said.

"My name is Triana Lowis. For your heroics allow me to reward you someday Link, what inn are you staying at?" (Lady Lowis)

What inn am I staying at? What a suspicious question to ask a stranger, lying I said I was staying at the Elde Inn. She said she has never heard of that inn before, I told her it was a new establishment. She seemed to doubt my answer, thankfully one the other knights reminded her of their patrol. I made sure to walk in the opposite direction as we parted ways, there sure are some weirdos in this city.
