Leveling In a Fantasy World

"Huh? What is happening..." The man found himself floating in a space with nothing in sight.

Everything was black, silent, and creepy.

A young man, about 25 years old, with a trained body and no clothes, was looking around this place.

"Wha---" He couldn't understand where he was, what he was doing, or why he couldn't move his arms or legs. It felt like trying to move in wet sand or cement.

"Did I... no... is this... AM I DEAD???!!!" The young man opened his eyes and called out in fear. This thought had never crossed his mind before, but now he was contemplating it.

"No... no... no... no... no... how could this be!!! Did I drink too much?" The young man breathed heavily, trying to remember what he did before appearing here.

His name was Alex, Alexander Simons, a professional programmer working for NASA. He wasn't high in the ranks of programmers, nor was he a complete newbie. He earned enough money to do anything he wanted and live a high-class lifestyle.

"Oh... I shouldn't have drunk that bottle... DAMN!!!" Alex yelled out. He remembered opening a moldy glass of wine from who knows where when he was visiting his home country. He was so wasted that he forgot to check if the wine was good, and his drunk self just drank it from the bottle.

"Damn... why do I not feel more panic? What is happening? It's like I already accepted my death... is this what death is? Calms you down?" Alex looked around again, seeing nothing but emptiness. The only visible things were little colors far away and constant flashes of different colors.

"This doesn't seem like heaven or hell, or is this the underworld... you know what... who cares... I am dead anyway..." Alex sighed and closed his eyes, expecting to fall into an indiscriminate slumber and rest his mind.

But something else happened entirely.

"WHA!!! WHAT IS HAPPENING!!!" Alex opened his eyes and almost went blind. He could see light appearing in front of him, coming closer and closer extremely fast.

"NO!!!" He didn't know what this was, but his instinct told him it was extremely bad. For some reason, his mind was yelling to escape, but...

How could he do it now...

Alex was swallowed by the light instantly.

"GAAAAHHHGHGHHHH!!!" The eyes of a kid opened immediately.

"What happened? I..." Alex opened his eyes and looked around. He wasn't in the darkness anymore.

"Was I saved???" Immediately, a light of hope appeared in his heart, and he almost smiled. But then Alex noticed.

He wasn't in his room or a hospital bed anymore...

"This place..." He was in a completely different place than he remembered. Around him, everything looked wooden. He was sleeping on a very hard bed that would give anyone back issues.

The smell of decay permeated everything, from disgusting chairs scratched by animals to couches with stains of wine and blood. Walls had pictures of different people, most of them scratched off, and a fireplace with an enormous fire.

"Did I... was I... could I... have been reincarnated?" Alex opened his mind to a terrifying possibility.

"WHAT!!!" He yelled it out but forcibly calmed himself. He didn't know where he was and what he was in this world. Alex tried to stand up but immediately fell when he tried.

"I feel so weak... so short... was I not reincarnated in my body?" Alex looked up and noticed a mirror close to his bed. He went towards that mirror, cleansed the dust off it, and looked inside.

"Oh my god..." Alex could not say anything more than this. He saw himself inside the mirror... but a lot younger. From his young face, he could see he was about 8 years old at most. His body looked like a teenager's, and his hair was completely black. His eyes were a beautiful dark green, and his body was tanned and muscular.

~AH~ ~AH~ ~AH~

He jumped up when he heard a noise from somewhere.

"SHIT!!!" Alex immediately tried to hide but couldn't. Alex was a soldier for a long time before pursuing his dream job and becoming a programmer. His body may have been trashed away, but his mind was still extremely sharp.

"The noise is coming from that door." Alex noticed a door next to a fireplace, completely wooden, with writings on it.

"Fuck... what is this language... it looks like English but with accent marks..." Alex cursed whoever reincarnated him here. It didn't even give him the ability to read things in this world. How was that fair now?

~HARDER~ ~HARDER~ ~HARDER~

He heard this noise once again and immediately understood.

"They are having sex... whoever they are... they are having sex!!! Such shamelessness... they are doing it when someone is so close to their room... at least make the room soundproof." Alex immediately understood and went back.

"Alright... let's think." He sat down on the couch.

"EWWWW!!!" He stood up when he sat on some liquids he didn't want to know about.

"I was reborn in this world for some reason. I don't know what is happening to my past world or how it's possible that I kept my memories. I don't know what kind of world this is. The only thing I know is that it's a Middle Eastern or mostly Old English, European world. People next to me are having sex... and..." Alex was interrupted by his thoughts. He saw some stains on the wall. Of course, this wasn't something that surprised him. What surprised him was.

"Is this the smell of blood?" He smelled something from the door next to his bed and...

CREAK!!!

He opened the door.

"Oh... MY GOD!!!" And in that moment, Alex realized... he was in trouble. big trouble that he didn't expect to be in a moment he was reincarnated into another world... and he knew that he was going to have a lot more troubles after this moment on.
