"Everything I said last night...none of them were true." Adeline shook her head.
Nicholas tightened his grip. "Your heart knows what it wants. Stop lying to yourself."
"I'm not—"
Without even letting her finish her sentence, Nicholas abruptly leaned forward and gently kissed her lips as he closed his eyes. It was on Adeline's mind to move away, but instead she found her face lifting to his, responding to the kiss. She didn't want it stop, instead she wanted more.
Until a few moments later, she got back to her senses and pushed him away before touching her lips.
"I...I..." Adeline looked away.
"You say you don't love me but your actions shows different." Nicholas lifted her chin.
"I... We can't be together..."
"Erick is now gone!" Nicholas punched the wall. "Who else are you—"
"I've got hurt more than you could even count." Adeline smiled. "Do you still expect me to go through all that again?"
"You're giving it all up just because of what happened back in college?"
"I've had enough. Enough of everything, Nic...so just please leave me alone."
Nicholas loosened his grip. "You still trust Abigail and Erick? Is that what you're trying to say?"
"We have nothing to do with each other." Adeline turned her back. "I shouldn't be answering your question."
"You—"
"I'm resigning from your company. I don't give a damn about the interest anyway."
"You signed a contract. Don't you remember?"
Adeline started walking away. "So? The penalty isn't that of a big deal."
"Stop." Nicholas grabbed her wrist. "You're not allowed to—"
"Fine!" Adeline clenched her fist. "I'll work for you, happy?"
"Whe-Where are you going then?"
"Where else? This isn't my house."
"We'll head straight to work. There's no time for you to go home."
"My parents are—"
"I told them that you spent the night at my place, don't worry."
"You what?" Adeline's mouth dropped open.
"Why? You plan on lying?" Nicholas folded his arms.
"No...I-I... What would they think of us...?"
"Nothing." Nicholas patted her back as he threw his towel over her head. "Get ready, we're leaving in ten minutes."
(At Nicholas' company)
"Check out these designs and decide which best suits the model." Nicholas handed her a pile of papers.
"We don't have the same style and plus...I didn't study fashion design." Adeline scratched her head.
"Just give me your opinion about it. Make the decision within the day."
"I-I... Can I g-go—"
Nicholas nodded. "I'll bring you home."
"I think it's best if—"
"Get to work if you wanna finish early."
A few hours later, as Adeline made her way out of the company to have her lunch, she saw Erick standing in front of the pedestrian lane, looking around. Adeline wanted to go back in, but ended up gathering the courage and approach Erick.
"What are you doing here?" Adeline folded her arms. "Finding more chicks?"
Erick turned to look at her. "A-Adele...I-I came to apologize..."
"That's unnecessary."
"Pl-Please forgive me... Abigail has been sent to the states since her father knew that we—"
"I'm not asking."
"C-Can we get back to-together?"
Adeline bursted into laughter. "You expect us to get back together after everything you've done? You lied to me, Erick. You always did. You tricked me into falling in love with you!"
"I realized that you we-were the one that I needed..."
"You're just telling me this cause you have no one to support your daily needs isn't it? You must've gotten laid off."
"You..."
"Surprised?" Adeline smiled. "I know you, Erick. Don't ever think that you could try to deceive me."
"You know that I—"
Just when he was about to finish what he was saying, Adeline started walking on the pedestrian lane, but Erick noticed that there was a bus heading towards Adeline. The Bus wouldn't stop and kept going, Erick rushed to push Adeline away and instead got hit by the bus.
