There wasn’t electricity in the hayloft, but the windows on the forest’s side were large enough to make the space light for them to be able to sit down in a half-circle on some bales and still see one another clearly enough.
“So?” Rider started encouragingly.
“My friend, the one in Tanzania?” Dallas looked at him to see if he remembered the guy being mentioned before. Rider nodded and Dallas went on. “He sent me an email and, as you know, he’s found Shani’s mom and sisters and everything.”
The farm had been collectively happy about that fact, as getting the news had made Shani more relaxed.
“Yes?”
“And you know how I always say that I want to go back to meet them again, right?” Shani piped up, rubbing her hands together for warmth, despite the fact that they were already encased in what looked to be at least two pairs of woolly mittens.
