Nature & Death

Narrator's POV

Deep within the eastern jungles of Sothoryos, where the dense foliage swallows all traces of past civilization, lies the ruined penal colony, the city Gorosh. Now teeming with life and bustling with activity, it stands as a solemn testament to the unforgiving grip of nature reclaiming its dominion.

As the ancient trees tower overhead, their roots snake through cracked cobblestones, tearing asunder the once-proud streets. Vines and creepers ensnare every crumbling facade, their verdant tendrils weaving a tapestry of greenery over the city's decaying remnants.

Amidst the overgrown ruins, the skeletal remains of towering structures stand defiantly towards the sky, their fractured spires piercing the dense canopy above. Among them, the remnants of ancient dragons and wyverns roosts perch precariously atop crumbling towers, now mere shadows of their former glory.

Silent and watchful, the jungle envelops Gorosh in a cloak of primal wilderness, its cacophony of chirping insects and rustling leaves drowning out the echoes of a lost civilization.

Unlike its ruined sisters, Zamettar and Gogossos, that are surrounded by bodies of water.

Zamettar being flooded upon the river's overwhelming reach. The river Zamayos, swollen with the passage of time, encroaches upon the city's boundaries, its murky waters lapping against the worn stone foundations. In some areas, the river's relentless flow has breached the city's defenses, flooding streets and buildings alike with its relentless embrace. The city's ancient structures, now submerged beneath the river's murky depths, serve as haunting reminders of a bygone era.

Gogossos filled with rust and weathered walls due to the wind and seas. Perched upon jagged cliffs overlooking the tumultuous waters below, its once-mighty structures now lay rusted and worn, battered by the relentless onslaught of the elements. Salt-encrusted walls crumble beneath the weight of time, their once-vibrant colors faded to a dull, weathered hue. Iron gates, once proud and imposing, now stand twisted and broken, their ornate designs obscured by layers of rust and corrosion.

Moss and mold coat every surface, obscuring the intricate carvings and faded murals that once adorned each of these ruined cities.

In this corner of the world, where time as if stands still and nature reigns supreme, Zamettar, Gogossos and Gorosh lie as a solemn reminder of the impermanence and fragility of humanity. Lost to a series of diseases and plagues that claimed almost who dwelled within its walls, the cities now belongs to the nature, a mere footnote in the annals of history swallowed by the relentless march of time.

And yet, the city of Yeen stands unilke the others. Ruined as it may be, it is in contrast with nature.

For thousands of years, its black and oily structures have endured the test of time, casting ominous shadows upon the desolate landscape.

Here, amidst the few tangled lifeless vines and twisted roots, no life seems to grow, not a single flower, or blade of grass to break the monotony of the bleak terrain.

Only withered and decayed trees that are as black as its structures.

The distributary that once flowed through this land now runs sluggish and dark, its waters reflecting the obsidian hue of the city's towering spires. The very ground upon which Yeen stands is black, as if tainted by some ancient curse that drains the very essence of life from the earth.

As one ventures closer to the city's crumbling walls, a sense of unease settles like a heavy cloak, for there is a palpable darkness that permeates every stone and every shadow. The air is thick with the scent of decay, and the silence is deafening, broken only by the distant murmur of the sluggish river and the occasional rustle of unseen creatures in the underbrush.

Yeen, with its forbidding visage and silent watchfulness, stands as a testament to the hubris of ancient civilizations and the inexorable march of time. Its secrets lie buried beneath layers of history and myth, waiting to be unearthed by those brave or foolish enough to venture into its cursed embrace.

And so, amidst the desolation of the jungle, Yeen remains a haunting enigma, its blackened spires reaching towards the sky like the twisted fingers of some forgotten god. Yet, amidst its lifeless streets and barren courtyards, there is a silence that speaks volumes—a silence that whispers of a city lost to time, swallowed whole by the unforgiving embrace of the jungle.

That is... Until our Hero came to visit.

That time our Hero went to Yeen...

Ainz's POV

As I flew my way to the direction where the ruins of Yeen is located, I can't help but be dubious if something even actually lives there.

'From here, I could already see that it's quite dark and creepy. Do people at that time have some gothic taste or were they at their 'emo' era?'

From the distance, I can already pinpoint where the city of Yeen is located. It's basically almost at the center of the jungle. If the northern parts of Sothoryos was supposed to be colored full of green, then Yeen is dark as night. It's like a gaping black hole in the middle of a green dress.

There are no living trees within the ruined grounds based on what I can see. And somehow, as I get closer, I can sense some malevolent energy.

And my initial assessment was right. It is dark and creepy.

The structures of Yeen are something else, I'll tell you that much. They're like nothing I've ever seen before, all black and oily, standing tall in the middle of the jungle like some ancient sentinel. But there's something off about them, something dark and twisted that can send shivers down your spine.

'This place smells... evil. Does that even make sense? What? Is this supposed to be my spider-sense tingling moment?'

They're covered in these strange symbols, carved deep into the black stone like they're alive, pulsing with some kind of unholy energy. And you can feel it in the air, this heavy darkness that hangs over the city like a thick fog. It's like the very essence of necromancy, like the city itself is cursed.

The buildings themselves are massive, with these towering spires that seem to reach up and touch the sky. But they're crumbling, falling apart like they're haunted by the very darkness they're made of. And there's this feeling, like you're being watched, like something is lurking in the shadows, waiting to drag you down into the depths of despair.

'One thing is for sure... Who ever made this place like this must be so fucked up'

Should I purge this place from its evils?

It does need a bit of 'cleansing'.

"[Maximize Magic: Widen Magic: Hol-]" Just I was about to finish evoking my Spell something distracted me.

"NNNNOOOOOO!" The shout blasted through the jungle, rough and deep. I squinted towards the sound, trying to make out what was going on. It seemed to come from one of those big trees, you know, the ones that tower over everything else.

The noise of something big moving in the trees got louder, like someone was in a hurry to get somewhere. Leaves rustled, branches snapped, and then there it was—a huge shape barreling towards me. It leaped from the treetop, soaring through the air like it had wings, and that's when I saw it.

A giant ape. Seriously, it was massive, with arms like tree trunks and a gaze that could stop you in your tracks. Covered in sleek black fur, it looked like it owned the place. And as it hurtled towards me, I couldn't help but thought of someone familiar.

"...King Kong?"

Hello once again!

It took me a while to make this chapter cause I wanted to venture back to the Narrator's POV. ( ꈍᴗꈍ)

If only you knew how hard it is to search up fancy words just to make it poetic or something. I've learned quite a lot of new words that I'm not gonna be using in real life because of it. ಥ‿ಥ

Did you know that a 'distributary' is a river branch that does not meet the sea? I just thought it would still be called a river but Hey, The More You Know (≧▽≦)

If you're wondering why Gorosh is the one with more descriptive power, it's because it's the one I find most interesting compared to Zamettar and Gogossos. Definitely not because I'm tired... Definitely (◕દ◕)

Anyway, I would like to thank you all once again for the support and suggestions that you all are giving me. Most especially the stoning part. I truly appreciate you all! (◍•ᴗ•◍)❤

Got any other suggestions? Corrections? Violent reactions? Comments and Reviews?

Give them to me cause I welcome them all~ (ꈍᴗꈍ)

Hope you like it! Have a great day!
