Goddess of Virtue

A charming young girl was walking with bouncy steps, obviously filled with joy, towards a mansion. The girl was still growing and was wearing a school uniform. Wearing a knee-length brown skirt, a cream coloured shirt with perfectly combed auburn hair that fell on one side, a loosely hung tie and a badge with an insignia of the private school she went to on her left chest, looked full of vitality.

She had been to that mansion many times and the servants all knew her, but today was somewhat different. They were giving her uncomfortable looks filled with some pity. In her happiness, she could not understand and joyfully bounced up to the door and pushed it open without knocking or ringing the bell.

But it was at that moment, that her world crashed down. Her face fell and she was unsure whether she should be angry first or cry first. In front of her was a boy of similar age sitting with a girl on his lap from the same school, cuddling each other.

"John !!!" she screamed.

The boy was obviously startled and jumped up, and the couple stood up hastily with dishevelled looks. The boy was first scared, but then something changed in him.

"Jenny. You are back early today." He replied a bit flustered at first, but his voice became calmer as he spoke.

His eyes became colder and his looks arrogant. He continued "This is my other girlfriend, Joanna, she goes to the same school as yours, your senior."

"Other girlfriend? What do you mean? I am your only girlfriend" screamed Jenny. Unable to understand what was happening. How audacious! To think he is introducing another girl as his girlfriend to his actual girlfriend.

"No. You need to deal with it, she is also my girlfriend and she will not be the only one. Our parents are friends and maybe we will get married after a few years, so you need to know. Boys should have many girlfriends to flaunt, otherwise, what will my friends think. I need to care about my image." He said nonchalantly.

Joanna, at the side, could not stop smiling and she suddenly hooked the boy's hand in hers and gave him a peck on the cheek, feeling very satisfied with the answer. Joanna threw a provocative glance at Jenny and smirked.

Jenny was on the verge of crying. Jenny and John were childhood sweethearts and they had been together for a long time now. Unknown to her, tears started to fall from her eyes. And she became angrier after looking at what Joanna did.

"Fine. Since you want it like that, I will break up with you. As it is Raymond has been asking me out for a while now, I will go with him."

"You dare. You are mine." He was livid with her answer, wishing he could smash Raymond at that moment.

"Why not? You don't control me. Since you want to flirt around, so will I. Goodbye." Jenny slammed the door as she left.

As soon as she closed the door, she ran with tears. She ran to her home, to her room and started bawling out. Her heart was broken.

25 years later.

"This is going to be very difficult. The difficulty of this mission is not A ranked, but S ranked. We need at least 3 S ranked people to complete. We only have you here Madam Rose." A lean looking man spoke to a beautiful girl with auburn hair was crouching beside him.

That girl was Jenny. She had grown up to become as beautiful as supermodels. With the natural beauty that could mesmerise people, she became a top spy from a noble background.

"It's okay, we can handle this if everyone works properly," she replied. There were 4 people hiding nearby. "When I give the count, I want all you to rush to that platform, you know the drill" she commanded. The other 5 gave curt nods of acknowledgement.

"Go."

All 5 became tense, and one by one, using different methods that made them blend in the surroundings, sneakily went towards the platform. As the captain of this squad, she was the last one to go.

As she was mid-way, an unexpected change occurred. From the enemy camp, bright floodlight shone on her. She was caught, but she did not panic due to the immense experience as a top spy for the past 12 years.

But her visage changed when she saw a man walking towards her. It was another top spy from the enemy camp. He grinned maliciously.

"Madam Rose, what a pleasant surprise. I never thought it would be you that we would catch this time."

"Satan. How are you? I am unlucky. Sigh. So, do you think you can catch me?" She laughed along, but her eyes were darting everywhere, looking for an escape route.

"Ah, no. I cannot catch you, no one can. But my mission is not to catch you," he replied with respect for her, and he stopped and gave her some time to look around before he gave a dark and cunning smile that stopped her heart for a beat, and he spoke slowly, " it is to kill you."

Her face dropped and she made an attempt to run sideways, but she heard the word that made her heart dropped; FIRE. She heard 20 muffled gunshot sounds and knew her end was here.

In her last moment, she felt regret, because she could not find anyone that she cared about. Her parents died 18 years ago and left her big inheritance and noble status. She did not have siblings. She stopped caring for boys after that incident with John. Due to her job, she had no close friends. She suddenly felt regret that she did not have anyone to care about. She had had many men to date and enjoy, but she never loved any of them. Most of them were her targets for missions.

And that moment ended, and everything blacked out as her body was filled with a dozen bullets.

Everything was black for a very long time.

And then, she suddenly opened her eyes.
