A few minutes ago…
Everything that had happened was like a dream in Count Orpheus's eyes.
A second ago, he could see that although the white haired boy was persistent, he had already been reaching his limit.
It was inevitable for he was but a human, after all.
Couple with the endless fireballs that rained upon them from the sky, the situation could only be described as hopeless.
It was all good until he sensed some abnormalities in the white haired boy.
He was cautious, even after he had turned into something that was more like a demon than a human.
Therefore, Count Orpheus didn't hesitate to cast another high rank magic spell.
It was then that the abnormalities began to form in succession with the first being the "sister" of the white haired boy.
He hadn't really paid much attention to her.
In his eyes, the sister of the white haired boy did indeed have a pretty face.
That was it.
He didn't question that his son would be attracted to her.
Besides that, the only thing noteworthy he had noticed was the siblings' crimson eyes that were not unlike that of a demon.
Still, that was that.
It wasn't his first time seeing children bearing the title of Devil's Spawns.
However, he wouldn't have expected in a million years that they would have already formed their first star.
But even that was nothing to him since the gap between the realms of One Star and Three Star was like that of heaven and earth.
The only thing that Count Orpheus didn't expect was for the red eyed girl to be able to cast a high rank magic spell in order to be able to combat his own.
Besides this, there was also the fact that the white haired boy instantly appeared in front of him with his sword being stopped by a translucent blue barrier.
All it took was a second.
From a desperate situation where he could already taste the feeling of victory, to a situation that made his heart palpitate.
'What the hell…!?'
Count Orpheus sneaked a glance upwards and found out that the massive magic circle in the sky was already shattered to pieces.
"H-How??"
Words unconsciously escaped his mouth as he stared at the white haired boy before him.
All he saw was a flash of light.
It was but an instance, like that of a flash produced by a camera.
Count Orpheus gritted his teeth as he once again waved both his hands, resulting in the gathering of mana.
"I don't know how you managed to do that, but it's clear that you're already at your limit!"
He was confident of this because the white haired boy's eyes were still closed, meaning that what he was doing was akin to that of a final burst of energy before his death.
Despite his confidence, Count Orpheus still multicasted two magic spells.
[Mid Rank Magic: Earthen Chains]
[High Rank Magic: Ice Beam]
In his right hand, a magic circle appeared, emitting cold mana.
Meanwhile, his left hand reached out to the white haired boy's direction.
The ground suddenly trembled as chains made of earth suddenly emerged, rapidly crawling to the boy's legs like snakes.
Instead of attacking with blind confidence, he made sure to cast a binding magic spell first right before his offensive spell.
He did this in order to eliminate any chances of anything unforeseen happening.
'I was able to become who I am because of my carefulness! As long as I take everything into account, I will reach my goal!!'
Killian and Pandora bore witness as Regis was suddenly surrounded by chains of earth.
The blue beam of light that also materialized on the Count's right hand also made them feel hopeless.
Pandora wanted to shout, to yell that he should escape.
Killian also tried opening his mouth, wanting to at least cheer him on.
But their severe injuries wouldn't allow for it.
Count Orpheus smiled, feeling victory right before his fingertips.
However, that was it.
The feeling of victory stayed right before his fingertips.
He didn't reach it- He couldn't.
His face trembled slightly as he saw the white haired boy's eyes open.
Nothing grand really happened.
However, he felt as if the world had turned upside down upon meeting that pair of blood-red eyes.
At this moment, light suddenly flashed.
For a tenth of a second, neither Killian, Pandora, nor Count Orpheus saw anything.
Just a pure white flash of light.
But when their sights recovered in the next second, their eyes widened once again.
Regis had already disappeared.
Crink—
Wunggg—
The chains of earth that wanted to bind him fell to the ground while the beam of frost that had shot from the Count's hand dissipated.
CRACK—
CRACK! CRACK! CRACK CRACK!
Following the strange noises of cracking, the three of them looked up.
Shock filled their eyes as they saw cracks on the night sky. From their perspective, it was as if the sky itself had cracked.
"No…!"
It didn't take long before Count Orpheus realized what happened.
He looked in the direction of the manor and saw the white haired boy with his sword stabbing in the air.
However, it could be seen that it was the origin of all the cracks.
CRACK—
CRACK— CRACK— TINK!!!
Not long after, the transparent barrier that encased the field between the main gate and the manor shattered.
Seeing what looked like falling sparkling shards of glass, Pandora's eyes widened.
It was beautiful.
However, the same couldn't be said to the despair that filled the Count's eyes.
He hurriedly raised his hand and chanted.
[High Rank Magic: Concealme–
But before he could finish his chant, another chant resounded in the area.
[Verowal]
Voogsh—
"ARGHHHH!!!"
Count Orpheus shouted in agony as pitch black flames erupted in his eyes.
'No! I need to erect the barrier!!'
He shouted in his heart as he raised his hand once again, not minding the soul searing pain that wreaked havoc in his eyes.
[High Rank Magi—
Shuikkkkk!!!
Count Orpheus's face froze as he saw his hand flying through the air.
Tap… Tap… Tap…
Soft footsteps sounded as the hems of a robe lightly swayed.
Regis, Pandora, and Killian all had their eyes fixed at the man that suddenly appeared.
Donning a priest's robe adorned with patterns of gold, holding a silver sword that had blood on its blade on his right hand.
His expression was solemn while his other hand remained behind him.
However, there was one thing that they all felt from him: Power.
Overwhelming power.
