Chapter 88: A Blast From The Past

After getting the electric unicorn as an Aeon, Ramiel remembered that they could name them. "Hey Yuna, how about we name your new Aeon? Huh?" He had a smirk on his face and Yuna looked at her new summon.

"Uhhh, I don't know about that. Are you up for it?" She asked the horse and it neighed with a nod. "Any ideas, Ramiel?" Yuna smiled and he grinned, making the unicorn nervous as hell.

"I don't think you should be asking him about that Yuna, look at his face. He's definitely thinking of a ridiculous name." Samus intervened and she squinted her eyes at him.

"Ohh, why the distrust? I have a really good name for it in my head you know?" He pouted at Samus and Yuna decided to hear it first.

"Please do tell what it is first." She urged him. "How about Wonderbolt?" He remembered the flying ponies in a particular show. And it shoots lightning bolts, so fair enough.

Samus choked on her saliva and glared at him. "Wonderbolt? You really wanna name this lightning spewing horse Wonderbolt?" She was flabbergasted.

"What? I think it's a good name, right?" He looked at the horse and it gave a slow nod. "Hmmm, he doesn't look that enthusiastic about it. How about another one?" Yuna chuckled.

"How about something more majestic like pegasus?" Samus suggested, but the horse shook its head.

"See, it liked my idea better." Ramiel snorted and Samus clicked her tongue. "You've gotta work me here, or you'll be given a ridiculous name." Samus warned the horse.

"Okay, okay. How about Twilight Sparkle?" Ramiel had a massive grin on his face and he applied some pressure on the horse, making it nod and neigh enthusiastically.

"Ohhh, I think it liked it!?" Yuna petted it on the head and Samus gave him the stink eye.

"Then it's decided! You're gonna be Twilight Sparkle from now on. Giddy up our noble steed!" Ramiel spanked it on the behind as he put Yuna on it.

It then started running around and Samus pinched him on the side with her Metroid hand. "You're definitely making fun of it. Doesn't our backstory basically make us one of its kind?" She huffed.

"You're not cute at all Samus, Twilight Sparkle really likes it anyways. Look, they're having so much fun. Making a bond between summoner and Aeon." Ramiel nodded sagely and she sighed heavily.

"You know what, I don't have the patience to deal with your crap. Let's get a move on." Samus went up to Auron so they could continue their journey.

After test driving Twilight Sparkle, Yuna dismissed it and they were ready to continue their pilgrimage. But a summoner that had the same attire as Shelinda, the acolyte stopped them.

"Hmmm, summoner Yuna. The daughter of lord Braska. I am Belgemine." She greeted, but her words dripped with a bit of hostility.

"Hello, you know me?" Yuna raised a brow and the woman smirked. "Ahhh, yes. You are famous, you helped the crusaders in Djose with their heresy after all."

Wakka went wide eyed and he stared at Ramiel who shrugged at him. "Told you, they'd cover it up once again. Blamed it to the crusaders even, such a shame. Brave men and women who were ready to die, betrayed and even given a bad name."

Wakka gritted his teeth and couldn't believe they would do that to the soldiers who would risk their lives for a chance of peace.

"Calm down Wakka, do not have an outburst in front of that summoner. She looks like a pretty high ranking acolyte of the faith. Even though she is ignorant of what happened." Lulu patted him on the shoulder.

"What do you mean?" Yuna squinted her eyes and the woman rolled her eyes. "You and your guardians helped the crusaders who turned their backs on the faith. But enough of that, how about we test your mettle?"

Yuna was confused, but Ramiel chimed in. "With a pokemon battle Yuna!" He cheered and she tilted her head. "Yes, with a contest of Aeons." The summoner woman challenged her.

"Yuna, kick her ass!" Tidus hyped her up and Lulu sighed. "Yes, do beat her Yuna. You can't let her words slide."

She nodded and accepted the challenge. Belgemine summoned Twilight Sparkle and Ramiel frowned. "Twilight Sparkle! You damned traitor, so you were seeing other people behind our backs huh?"

Samus got embarrassed and slapped him on the back. "It's not your lover! Why are you accusing it like it was cheating on you?"

"Aeons can offer their help to many a summoner. Not only just one." Lulu explained and Ramiel sighed. "Yuna, go beat up Twilight Sparkle. Or me and Samus will dismiss ourselves to the farplane, you hear me! Yuna trusted you Twilight Sparkle, and I thought I could too. So why the hell did Belgemine summon you?"

He was being overdramatic and Samus lunged at him so he could shut up. "Go on, fight Yuna. So we could get this over with." Auron sighed.

Yuna summoned Ifrit and they began their pokemon battle. But Twilight Sparkle got cold feet, hearing Ramiel accuse him of betrayal.

So Yuna easily won their battle with a flamethrower. "You are stronger than I thought. Till we meet again, Yuna." Belgemine actually accepted her defeat gracefully.

"Well, that was anti-climactic." Tidus was disappointed and thought Aeons were a bit more stronger, having a twisted view of them due to Ramiel's encounter with Sin when they travelled to Kilika.

"Sure is, that was pretty. I don't know, weak?" Samus was used to blowing giant stuff up. And she thought it was underwhelming.

"You guys aren't the norm for Aeons, so please don't have too much expectations like that." Lulu sighed. They were too powerful for their own good.

"Anyways, can you stop clinging to me Samus? I know you really like me, but are you sure you want to do this in public?" Ramiel smirked and she blushed, she was pressing herself on him.

"Ahem, let's get a move on. We have a lot on our itinerary." She coughed and they went to Rin's travel agency, to give back the Chocobos they rented and have a rest.

After they settled in, Yuna had a lot on her mind. Especially after learning that the crusaders were branded as heretics by the Yevon faith.

At a nearby hill, she saw the beautiful sunset and decided to watch it to clear her mind. "What's up? Something bothering you? You can talk to me." Ramiel noticed that she was distressed with their mental connection.

Yuna looked at him and thought of all the things that have changes since he became her Aeon. "I... I don't know Ramiel. The Yevon faith apparently is corrupt to its core. Unsent managing it, using Machina, covering up their misdeeds. They're commiting so much heresy and blasphemy."

She frowned, they have followed the faith after all. And learning more about its true colors is going to be difficult for anyone.

He patted her head and gave a smile. "That maybe so, but remember what I told you back in Besaid? Are you doing this for yourself and it's the right thing to do, or just because of your father and your religion?"

Yuna went wide eyed and she didn't thought of it more after they sailed to Kilika. "Honestly, I don't know. But what I do know is I want to help the people of Spira."

She looked towards the sunset and remembered all the death and destruction Sin caused throughout the history of Spira.

"I want children to never hear stories of Sin again. Mothers losing their husbands and children to fight just for it to be repelled and vice versa. For everyone to sleep peacefully. Not waiting for Sin to attack them at a moment's notice." Yuna stated seriously and was determined to do so.

"Then isn't that enough? The Yevon faith does not matter. Your goal doesn't need them. Why overthink about whether they are good or bad. There's always people there that are truly wishing for the peace of Spira. It just so happens that the higher ups do not desire that." Ramiel cheered her up.

"Sometimes I wonder, why are your convictions and principles so rock solid? So sure? You have no doubts about your beliefs." Yuna was jealous of his no nonsense attitude.

"Well, that can be a bad thing. But I investigate before I judge. People will always have a decision, judgement. Those who tell you otherwise are fools. I just know if something is wrong or right. And even if I'm doing the wrong thing, I do it for correct purpose. It's all complex, nothing is completely black and white. Other than a few exceptions that is." Ramiel remembered the Wutai war.

"Then how did you have the strength to do that? To do something wrong, even if you know it. In order for a higher objective? It sounds extremely hard." Yuna tilted her head and he chuckled at her innocence.

"Hmmm, how about I tell you a little story about my family?" He ruffled her hair and thought she was a bit too naive. Maybe a little context for her would help.

"Ohhh, your family? Please, I'm quite interested." Yuna leaned in and he showed her a family picture of them when they found Lucrecia. He made everyone get a nice picture for the quite depressed Lucrecia.

"This is my mother and father. And this is my twin sister, we look good don't we?" He puffed up his chest in confidence.

Yuna chuckled and she nodded. "You guys are definitely a beautiful bunch of people. And your sister more so, she looks like she's been sculpted by a God."

"Right? Well, anyways. My life is pretty complicated, our father who is this brooding emo guy weren't there for us for the majority of our childhood. And our mother was forced to abandon us, but she didn't make much of an effort to get us back." Ramiel sighed, Lucrecia just hid and didn't even want to try. While Vincent was stupid and got himself shot.

Meanwhile, at a certain distance away. Lulu and Samus noticed that the summoner and Aeon duo were talking. "He might be seducing Yuna, I can't let that happen in my watch!" Lulu squinted her eyes and Samus decided to not tell her that they were just having a normal conversation.

The two spied on them and Ramiel let them, no harm in other people hearing about his life after all.

"And as you know, I'm quite the incredible individual. So I raised my sister since I was just one year old. Protecting her even when I couldn't even speak straight." He remembered their time in Shinra.

"R-really? Before you can even speak straight!?" Yuna went wide eyed and thought that wasn't even just incredible anymore.

"Well, that's just the sort of place we were in when we were at that age. And I was able to get out of that place when we were just 6, we're twins you see?" Ramiel chuckled and smiled at the look on Gast's face back then in icicle inn.

"I didn't know that your life was that hard." Yuna couldn't help but compare her life to his. "Oh, don't even try. Different circumstances and all that." He patted her head.

'She doesn't even know that we were lab rats even before we were born.' He gave a wry smile and he thought it would be a bad idea to tell her about those things.

"Me and my sister fought in a war when we were just 10 years old. We grew up really fast because of that. And in those circumstances, we fought for a brighter tomorrow. Even though the two of us were against the wrong side." He looked at the sunset and thought of Wutai's.

"That's terrible... You and your sister have been through quite a lot." Yuna couldn't imagine fighting in a war at the tender age of 10.

"Yeah, but it's quite ironic. Due to protecting her and the world, it lead to me breaking a pretty important promise to her." Ramiel sighed and was gonna check later if they left Gaia.

"I am a pillar in her life, I'm her mother and father. The only one that had her back when she needed it the most. But I was forced to leave her behind, I didn't had the heart to tell her I couldn't stay forever." He gave a wry smile.

"Goodbyes are rarely happy ones." Yuna stared in front of her. Her father disappeared with Auron and Jecht 10 years ago after all when they defeated Sin. And she doesn't know what transpired.

"For sure, but once we're done in your pilgrimage. I'll go back home and meet up with her. Keep my promise." He smiled and Yuna suddenly imagined him leaving with Samus.

She had a sad expression on her face and he noticed. "Why so glum? Don't want to defeat Sin anymore?" He ruffled her hair and she shook her head.

"I just imagined you leaving, I don't know. But it made me really sad..." She stared right at him and he was surprised.

"Grrr, this is getting a bit too saucy for my liking. She's definitely starting to catch feelings for him." Lulu was about to interfere in their little bonding time, but Samus held her head down.

"Stay here, I need more information about him." Samus was making a big decision for his involvement in the x-parasite and she hasn't detected any lies about his life.

"Well, I gotta go in due time Yuna. That's inevitable you know?" He patted her on the back and she didn't like the sound of that.

"I know... Especially because you said that you'd go back to your family... But I just don't want you to leave you know? Ever since you became my Aeon, things have been more fun. And we're all maturing too. You've told us a lot about the secrets of the Yevon faith." Yuna frowned.

"Hmmm, you know? My home is really beautiful. Just like Tidus' Zanarkand. The whole city is lit up with lights even at night. But you can still see the stars." Ramiel poked her forehead and showed her the image of Midgar.

"It's really beautiful, I hope I can see it in person one day." Yuna gave a sad smile, knowing that it was probably impossible.

"Well, don't think you can't. I'll show it to you in person, my sister will surely like you. You kind of resemble one of our friends, just a bit more shy and subdued." He chuckled, thinking of Aerith when she was younger.

"Then that's a promise." She smiled. "Hmm, then how about we swear on it?" Ramiel put his pinky finger right in front of her and she tilted her head.

"Back in my place, this is one of the ways to lock in a promise. We intertwine our pinkies and then promise each other." He urged her to do so.

"Then it's a promise, I hope you don't break it like you did with your sister." She gave a little quip and he pouted at her. "That's uncalled for, I need to punish you a bit."

He put some electricity in his fingers and started tickling her. Yuna began laughing uncontrollably and Lulu stared right at them.

"I'm too late. Forgive me, lord Braska. Your daughter has been seduced by an evil man." Lulu was getting dramatic and Samus sighed.

"Okay, fine. You can stop him now." Samus let go of her and they went up to them. "I'll call the police on you." Samus teased him and Ramiel rolled his eyes.

"I'm a man of culture Samus, but I have principles. Show some ID first before those kinds of things." He snorted and Samus chuckled.

"You're caught red handed, touching a minor. I'll be taking you in." Samus took out some handcuffs and Lulu sighed at them. "If you're gonna role play, then please don't show it to Yuna."

"R-role play!?" Samus looked at her cuffs and realized that she was basically being a hot cop.

"I didn't know you liked cuffs Samus, you're quite kinky eh?" Ramiel laughed and she blasted him with her arm cannon.

"Shut up, come on and uphold your promise." She huffed and returned to the inn. "Ow, that hurt a bit."

Yuna and Lulu chuckled and they also went back to the inn.

At night, Samus and Ramiel shared a room again. So they could do what they were supposed to do and Samus was really excited.

"Ramiel, are you really sure you can do this? I'm gonna make you explode to pieces if you're lying." Her voice trembled a bit, both anxious and excited to see her parents once again. Even if they weren't the same ones.

"Yeah, for sure. Thanks to your Metroid DNA, I'll have an easier time than the last one. Thanks for that again." He smiled at her and she blushed, remembering his lips on her neck.

"Thank you too, you didn't have to do this. But you still pulled through." Samus was thankful. "No problem, come on. Let's prepare."

They went to their beds and due to Samus absorbing Mako, she was able to separate her soul from her body with Ramiel's help.

"My body is made of pure energy here, I don't have a strictly physical one in Spira. That's what we're going to do with you when we reach a parallel dimension a few decades back." He explained the plan and Samus nodded.

He began sucking up a large amount of energy from the planet and had a much easier time entering the void with Samus.

"Ahhh, that feels so much easier. I should've just stolen your blood when I tied you up in our first meeting." Ramiel teased her and she rolled her eyes.

And with their destination being Samus' childhood instead of Gaia that was thousands of years in the future. He managed to navigate the void. Because they weren't strictly going to another universe. Just a parallel dimension.

After a few hours of pinpointing a parallel dimension, he put his forehead on hers to gather some memories about her home planet and its coordinates.

"What are you doing?" She felt something tingle in the back of her mind, but she allowed it. "I'm trying to find your home planet so I can make a portal to it."

Successfully getting the place, he ripped open space and they went inside. Samus was overcome with emotion as she saw her true home. The earth colony K-2L.

"Do you still remember where you lived?" He patted her on the head and calmed her down with his energy.

"Un, I do. How can I forget?" She was going to tear up, but she held it in. "Okay, now focus on making a physical body. I'll show you how." He poked her head and taught her how to do it.

She immediately did so and went running to the direction of her home. "Go get em tiger." He smiled.

Samus quickly arrived at her house and saw her parents once more. Not able to keep it in anymore, her eyes watered and she started sniffling.

"Mom... Dad..." Samus wiped her tears and went up to them. "Ahhh, hello are you Virginia and Rodney?" She greeted them and the two nodded.

"Hello, do we know you?" Virginia smiled at her. "I'm Samus, I came here to tell you that space pirates will raid this place soon. You should go to Zebes and hand this to the inhabitants there."

Samus gave them the coordinates of Zebes and a letter in Chozo language. Warning them as well about the space pirates. It also had some data on Metroids so the Chozos could take care of the remaining ones.

They talked more about it, with the couple inviting her inside their home. Ramiel waited patiently outside the house and after an hour or so, Samus exited the Aran home. Saying her goodbyes to them.

"Were you satisfied?" Ramiel asked her and she gave a small nod. She then hugged him tightly and cried. "Yes, I am. They'll at least be safe in this instance. Thank you, you don't know how much this means to me."

She hid her face on his chest and he hugged her back. "Hey, that's what I promised right? I'll have you know that I always deliver." He laughed and Samus chuckled.

"Come on, stop crying. Your eyes will get all puffy." They went back to Spira as Samus looked at her home one last time.

"Let's get some shut eye. I'm really tired too, it might not be obvious. But it was still really goddamned hard you know?" Ramiel sighed and made himself comfortable on his bed.

"Yeah, thanks. Good night." Samus prepared to sleep, but she couldn't. She stared right at him. "Hey, can I ask for one last favor?" She gathered her courage and Ramiel nodded with closed eyes.

"Sure, but I'll do it later okay? I'm hella tired." He replied. Samus stood up and she crawled right next to him.

"Uhhh? I'm sorry? Are you going to attack me?" He opened one eye and looked at her. But she wasn't embarrassed or anything, just looking lonely.

"I don't want to sleep alone tonight. I remember hugging my mother when I slept when I was a child." She snuggled to his side and he put his arm around her neck.

"You know, my sister will kill you if she learns of this." He chuckled, imagining Alexandra's reaction.

"Hmm? Why though?" Samus looked up at him and was feeling safe in his arm. "Ahhh, she's very possesive. Yeah, let's go with that."

"Does she have a brother complex?" Samus chuckled. "Oh yeah, for sure. Now go to sleep, did I mention that I'm tired?" Ramiel yawned.

"Goodnight." Samus, with her specs. Blindsided him and gave him a chaste kiss. He didn't expect it and stared at her, but she already closed her eyes and hugged him tighter.

'Oh boy... I need to talk with Alex and Tifa about this... And how will I tell Samus that my twin sister is my lover.' He started sweating a bit, but he will leave that to his future self. Sleeping for now due to exhausting his energy reserves.
