“Oh my God! Zo, where have you been?!” I asked, running to meet him. “I'm so sorry, Gina. Sorry, I kept you worried, but I had to leave; staying with you was causing trouble.” Zo said sadly   "At least you are back now,” I said, smiling. “I'm sorry to say, Gina, I do not think I am free at the moment. It is the full moon, remember.” He said this, looking into my eyes.    “So you are leaving?” I asked in disbelief, and he nodded slowly before saying, “Not without what I gave you to keep for me." Then it clicked—the memories. But something was not right; I was having a bad feeling about this. “You ready?” He asked, and I nodded.    I lifted my face, ready for the kiss, but instead, he placed his forehead on mine. I expected to feel the strong zap of energy that usually comes with this act, but I felt numb instead.    Then he smiled and stood at his full height, and just like that, he left. I was still staring at a space when I heard a loud knock on the front door. I stood up to answer, and when I opened the door, I stared into the cold eyes of Zo. “I thought you just left; why did you come back?” I asked, hoping he would say it was because of me, but all that hope died down when his once bright golden eyes darkened and he asked, “What have you done?”   . . .  Regina Dark, in a bid to escape her ex at a party, stumbled upon a wounded man.
