Chapter ４５

With his mind made up, he drove to his house. As he strolled down the corridors to his room, the empty home seemed to mock him. He knew he'd made the proper choice to go when he was confronted with the physical embodiment of his loneliness. Charley entered his room and threw a few changes of clothing into a carry-on bag. He'd go take care of the L.A. club since it was one issue he could handle.

It would allow them both a few days to calm down before Charley decided what to do next. Maybe if he could only sit her down for a while, he could explain everything. When she understood what she'd gone into, she'd have to see reason. Jessey hadn't exactly shown a willingness to listen to reason. Perhaps it was wiser for him to cut his losses immediately.

It would be so simple for him to go, tour his clubs, and do whatever it needed to get that nasty lady out of his system. He could certainly ignore the needles piercing their way into his chest if he remained occupied.
