Encounter With a Handsome Uncle (1)

It's been a month since Feng Tianyi moved back to Shenzhen, but he didn't find anything new or interesting in this place. Maybe because he never grew up in this place and had spent his whole life in France with his mother.

The weather in Shenzhen was a little warmer compared to other huge cities. For this reason, Feng Tianyi was dressed in casual wear and let his companion-slash-personal assistant wheel him to the usual cafe he'd been spending his mornings.

He was wheeled to his usual spot just a few meters away from the bar and away from the busy customers that come and go within the establishment. This had been the routine he'd followed since he came back from overseas.

Once the morning rush hour passed, the cafe would be at peace, giving him enough time to write the manuscript for his newest book, which was due in a months' time, while enjoying the strong brew of his hot coffee.

However, today, something had broken his routine. His spot was already occupied, but they weren't adults that were usual patrons of this business.

"Little Star, are you sure you want to eat parfait at this time? Should we ask Uncle Yunan if we're allowed to be here?" The boy who looked more mature than the girl sitting next to him.

"Yu Gege is worrying too much! It's fine! Also, should we order a cup of coffee for Mommy?" The girl questioned back. She then looked around. "We should go back soon or else Uncle will notice we are missing."

A staff member came towards them and her eyes widened at the scene. There were two toddlers checking the menu while Feng Tianyi was watching the two argue.

Feng Tianyi had no choice but to take the table next to them and watched them curiously, as they lowered their heads on the menu to choose what to order.

"Yu Gege, I can't read!" The girl whined again. "This is what I want and maybe we should get a black coffee for Mommy."

The boy shook his head. "Mommy doesn't like the bitterness of coffee. Maybe we should ask someone for an opinion."

Xiao Bao looked around and found Feng Tianyi looking at them.

"Uncle!" He slipped from his seat and ran towards him with slightly wiggly legs. "Uncle, can you please help us choose the right coffee for our Mommy?"

The little girl followed closely behind her brother and stood on her toes as she tried to look over the menu on top of the table.

"Sure," Feng Tianyi blinked, surprised that there were unsupervised toddlers here. "...but where's your Mommy? Did you come here on your own?" He asked.

The little boy who climbed on the stool across him shook his head.

"Mommy went to visit her grandpa. Our Uncle is just outside talking on his phone,"

Feng Tianyi gave them a good look. The children's facial features were delicate and fair. Their eyes were round and beautiful with a hint of mischief in it. It was evident for the onlookers that this pair of siblings would be devastatingly beautiful and handsome when they grew up.

Both had an aura of dignity and elegance on its own and it seemed like they weren't just some kids from the neighborhood.

Everyone's attention was on the pair of sweet little buns. Just look at those cute chubby, rosy cheeks! The girl looks like a doll. Her hair was slightly wavy and was tied in a ponytail. Her doe-eyes were round and her skin was unblemished. She was wearing a white and pink dress and red flat shoes.

Meanwhile, her brother also had exquisite features, obsidian eyes, and a cute face. One would think of him as a little gentleman.

Some wanted to kidnap them and take them home and the twins were oblivious to it. These two adorable little buns were just too irresistible not to notice.

"You say your Mommy doesn't like the bitterness of the coffee?" Feng Tianyi asked the boy who nodded in response.

"Mommy hates veggies and anything bitter. She also takes her tea with honey in it." Xiao Bao said with a wide grin.

"Hai. Hai. Mommy likes sweets like Little Star," Little Star pointed on the parfait she'd been eyeing since they arrived here.

"Little Star? Who's that?" Feng Tianyi asked her curiously.

The little girl pointed to herself. "Little Star is me!" She giggled.

She then pointed to her brother. "And that's my twin brother, Yu Gege but our Mommy calls him Xiao Bao."

Xiao Bao crossed his arms over his chest and huffed. "My name is Tang Feiyu, only my Mommy can call me Xiao Bao!"

Feng Tianyi then proceeded to help the twins to choose the perfect coffee for their mother.

"Well, maybe she would like some Caramel Macchiato. It is sweet and popular for those who have a sweet tooth." He suggested.

The little buns easily agreed with him and ordered a parfait and a Caramel macchiato for their mother. Feng Tianyi called a waitress and helped them place their order before his. While waiting, the little buns sat across him, looking around in boredom while Feng Tianyi pulled out his laptop and started working on his book.

He occasionally took glances at the two children in front of him. He didn't know why, but when the twins smiled at him, he felt his heart throb a little, and his mood gradually improved. He wasn't one who was good with children, but somehow talking and interacting with these little buns didn't annoy him at all.

"Uncle, why are you sitting on a wheelchair? Are you hurt?" Little star asked him with curiosity.

If it was another person who asked him that question, Feng Tianyi would be mad, but seeing the beautiful face of this child made it impossible for him to get angry. His fingers stopped typing over the keyboard and gave the girl a faint smile.

"Uncle hurt his legs badly before, Little Star. He can't walk anymore. So you two should be careful on your way and pay attention to where you're going so you won't end up like Uncle." He explained.

Meanwhile, Xiao Bao laid his arms on the table, rested his chin on it, and looked at Feng Tianyi's face. He didn't know why but he found this Uncle charming and decent. He was also kind enough to answer his and Little Star's questions, even if it was too personal.

Although he didn't look like he had money like their Mommy, Xiao Bao thought that he could be worthy enough for their Mommy's attention.

He and Little Star knew that they didn't have a father. It was obvious, especially when their nanny had to drop them at kindergarten, and their peers got picked up by their mommies and daddies while they were left waiting for their nanny to come.

Mommy had to work hard to give them a good future, Xiao Bao and Little Star understood that, but their young mind couldn't help but wish they also had a father. It was usual for a child to wish for a whole family.

However, he and Little Star didn't want their Mommy to feel miserable because of a man. They didn't want her to commit a mistake because of them. If ever they want a daddy, the first thing that came into their young minds was to find a decent man who wasn't wealthy for their mother, and Feng Tianyi just fit their criteria.
