Regenaration spell

After taming the wyverns Jordan spent the night in the burning barn, returning at night even in a big group that is on top of the food chain is just asking for trouble. Also, it doesn't matter all that much to Jordan where he spends his night, after all, he mostly trains at night so there isn't much difference between training under the night sky or inside some building.

With only fire from the barn illuminating the surroundings Jordan started to train, swings with the ax, push-ups with weighs, quick sidesteps, and more. The increase in strength just from training is minimal as it's optional to train with the energy from beast´s hearts, the energy is like steroids without negative side-effects but Jordan did not train to increase strength, rather make himself more proficient with the weapon, after all, he has no prior training with weapons.

After a bit of training Jordan stopped, the sounds of crickets, owls, and wild animals running around in the distance over-helmed him, it was all so peaceful. Some people might be scared but for Jordan, that moment was the most peaceful one in several months.

Going with the atmosphere Jordan threw away his ax and laid on the ground into the wet weed, watching the stary sky with veins of mana piercing it.

Laying down with his hands behind his head Jordan couldn't help but say "I could stay like this forever…."

But while staring at the sky Jordan noticed one thing he didn't notice before. The veins in the sky were a little bit brighter than they should be and they were pumping, waves of mana were spreading into the atmosphere.

´That´s not good, was it like that before?´, thinking back Jordan found his answer, ´no it wasn't´. More mana will be pumped to earth and who knows what changes, would that bring to the already unstable ecosystem.

It was a few weeks since Jordan tamed the wyverns and finally the changes because of the increase of mana in the atmosphere started to show themselves.

Before the animals, humans, and materials were affected and now even the weather started to drastically change as well. It rained for days with drops of water as big as fists, gusts of wind strong enough to tear the roof of a building, and lastly drastic drops in temperature despite being in a warm climate which didn´t experience any strong winters.

But Jordan didn't spend those few weeks idling around, first, he made an amazing discovery.

And that discovery is that he can awaken non-elemental beasts and make them elemental ones by having them drink the potion for awakening. It´s a great discovery but even though the beasts are more loyal than humans Jordan won't be awakening them that often and that´s because the potion in the book is optimized for humans so the death rate is 3 from 10, but the death rate wasn't the problem as besides few beasts such as Max and the big wyvern the other beasts are mostly cannon fodder.

And the second thing Jordan did was that he developed a healing spell, well it´s not exactly a healing spell because to cast a true healing spell one needs positive energy and Jordan´s body just rejects that. The better term for the spell is "regenerative spell" the spell activates the body´s natural regeneration and provides nutrients to the body, so far the spell works only on those that have their body in the first rank, the spell can´t provide enough nutrients to recreate body parts that are in a higher rank.

The reason for the spell is no such thing as kindness or pity, not even for Jane, Jordan made the spell to learn about how the cells in the bodywork, how they react to mana, and how to stimulate the body´s natural regenerative powers and with the experiences Jordan got from making the spell he became confident in trying to trigger mutation that will stimulate his regeneration but this will have to wait.

Even though Jordan did not learn the spell to heal others he will make use of this opportunity to improve his image. Healing the citizens that lost limbs or some fingers should do the trick and that way Jordan can also explain the various failed experiments that he did on the forced workers.

Jordan did his experiments with the regenerative spell mostly on volunteers, but still, various rumors were going around the town, with the increased population this is unavoidable.

Those forced workers Jordan experimented on were those that lost some limb or those that betrayed Jordan and got their hand cut off. It took quite a long time for Jordan to complete the spell and in the process, many experiments failed few deaths and dozens of deformed limbs that didn't grow back the way they were supposed to.

Today Jordan is going to cast the spell only on few people as the mana cost for the spell is equivalent to 1,5 fourth circle spells, luckily with training Jordan raised his mana capacity to be enough for 5 fourth circle spells so he can cast the regenerative spell few times.

And first in line for the regenerative spell is Jane, with her contribution to the town she is the most valued human to Jordan. Jane might not have any fighting skills, but her administration skills are top tier, if it wasn't for her Jordan would have to go through mountains of reports, complaints, and questions every day.

"well, let's get it done" Jordan get up from his chair and went from the town-hall that served as his home to the hospital, after casting the spell the target will spend most of his body fat and even some of his muscles to regenerate the limb and thus several days spend resting will be needed.

The hospital was on the other side of the town, approximately 15 min of walking, Jordan could ride a beast there but he decided not to today, ´I have been closed up for a long time… stretching my legs sounds like a good idea´

With this Jordan went outside, the bright sun blinded him for a second, but his eyes quickly adjusted to it, without wasting any time Jordan went to the hospital. Observing those around him, the people upon seeing Jordan stopped what they were doing, and with a bit of fear they bowed and greeted "greetings leader", Jordan nodded to acknowledge them and continued on his way.

Those people Jordan met were all citizens, some of them were wearing coats made of fur or just several layers of cloth as the weather was getting rather cold, and also almost all the citizens had weapons with a belt strapped to their waists. The cloth was luxury that none of the forced workers could afford to buy and sadly if the weather continues to worsen at the rate it did until now many of the forced workers will die.

Jordan stopped himself from thinking about the future, lately, he had a tendency to think about all the problems that were before him and he almost became depressed from the pressure but he managed, in the end, he told himself ´why should I care? If things come down to it, I will just kill everyone, collect the negative energy and live somewhere on a mountain, lets just take it easy and see how things develop´

Finally, Jordan came to the hospital, the normal hospital no longer were the injured treated in the tower block remodeled to one. Jordan already knew where Jane was, so he went straight to her room.

Without knocking Jordan just went straight to Jane's room, there was only Jane with a stack of paper before here working while laying on a hospital bed. Upon hearing the door open Jane was surprised and threw a few of the papers into the air just as Jordan went in. Jordan said jokingly "well well well… I said to you, no work today"

Jane smiled awkwardly and replied, "I was just looking over something that was bothering me don't worry" Jordan "I don't get it, no humans defy me, and you… you defy me to work! You should really take it easy" Jana "haha, yeah you are right, but I was nervous… the work helps me to keep my mind out of things"

Jordan chatted with Jane and tried to calm her down, it might sound like he cares about her but that is just something he learned when he went to school, it´s a mask he puts on just like his fake smile. Jordan is empty inside, he always was, besides the hate and the human instincts, Jordan doesn´t even remember what other emotions are.

After a bit of talking both Jane and Jordan used their raw mana to collect the papers, yes both used it, Jane became awakened with the brain as a center of power after drinking the awakening potion. It didn't take long, and all the papers were collected after that Jordan called the doctor and prepared everything that Jane might need.

Bottles with beast blood mixed with herbs, healing potions from the herbs they found outside the city, and lastly big steak from third rank elemental beasts. Weird as it may be all those things are helpful for Jane´s recovery.

Jordan "are you ready" Jane looked Jordan straight into eyes and said "yes" with that Jordan cast the spell, four blue circles appeared and then disappeared, the image of Jane´s body appeared inside Jordan´s head and he started to redirect the energy, sending it to the bones and cells in the cut leg.

Jane´s face paled as her leg started to grow, the spell provided some nutrients from mana but it couldn't supply the full amount so there will be some taken from the body.

Slowly the leg grew back, it took about a minute and after that, before Jane could even react Jordan grabbed her leg and compared it to the other one, after a while he said with a smile "good, everything went well, no disfiguration or mutations, congratulations"

Jane was holding in the tears and with the use of mana and all her strength she slowly tried to stand up, Jordan tried to stop her but just as he neared Jane leaped on him and tightly hugged him. Sobbing Jane said "th-thank you" Jane was half as big as Jordan, so he had to bend himself to console Jane.

Jane kept crying and Jordan couldn't help but think ´it will be hard to trigger the regenerative mutation, I need more testing, I will need subjects… subjects that can die, I still have a lot of work before me´
