Roaring tides

June 12th 2000, as he stood in front of the empty grave of his father. Rock had been no older than five years old when his mother, with tear stained eyes, had given him the news. A mission had gone poorly and he sacrificed himself to save countless of other's lives. That debt wasn't ever forgotten, every year on June 12th, Rock and no less than 50 men and women stood an hour vigil at his father's grave. Rock had grown to know each of the faces that arrived here every year from all corners of the planet, some had even grown close to him. Jeremy had been a pseudo uncle to Rock for countless years and had helped him grow in the absence of his father. Uncle Jeremy wasn't his normal playful self, he was tense almost scared at the annual gathering. Just about everyone was on edge and it was due to one extra number that appeared at his father's grave, Rock didn't know why his presence had shaken every one to the core so he made his way over to the offender and offered a hand in greeting. The man gave him an almost somber expression when he had introduced himself as the son of the man in the grave. The stranger nodded as of he was privy to this information before hand, his smile a bit brighter. The next few words would change Rocks life in ways unimaginable as the man leaned in and said "I know who you are, I killed your father." The man's smile dropped from a big bright grin to a tight lipped smile. Rock stunned took the information in, nodded, looked the older man in the eyes and said one thing. "Thanks." As he said that, he reeled back his other hand and punched the other man square in the jaw, nothing but fire in his eyes. But, our journey doesn't begin here it begins the year before this fateful encounter, during his senior year of high school. That is where the chain of events that led to today begin. When Rock simply said yes to training in the backyard with his best friend.
