Chapter 155

"So, what are you waiting for?"

Rose asked him calmly, as if she wasn't about to receive a shock that could kill an ordinary human.

They were still in the cage, but Rose decided to gear up while Dio went to find something with enough voltage to fry the tracker in her body.

Dio couldn't generate energy and had never tried to learn spells that manipulated energy.

But Dio was still looking at her new outfit and equipment.

Rose was now wearing camouflage green military pants, black boots, and a white sleeveless shirt with a bulletproof vest over it.

There are two holsters on her thighs, each with a pistol. She also strapped some knives around her thighs and magazines filled with bullets.

There is tear gas on the vest, and there are two katanas on her back. She tied her hair in a ponytail while exposing her face as well as her eye patch.

Dio didn't say anything about stealing since he also destroyed the owner's property and tore out the central power cable directly connected to the power box in the back of the place.

He could feel the power flowing through the thick black wire with the golden cables when he held it.

It's a very satisfying sensation, as he was used to having large amounts of energy flowing through his body with both mana and divinity.

Seeing Rose's face, Dio knew very well that if he took too long, she would probably yank the cable from his hand, so he took a step back before speaking.

"Are you really going to take a high-voltage shock carrying so much ammunition and grenades?"

Dio asked her.

Rose blinked a few times.

"I don't know, but do you want to find out?"

Soon, Rose took off the explosive-laden vest, weapons, and knives, placing them on the table and leaving only her white shirt.

"I'm ready."

Rose said that and opened her arms to him.

"Are you sure? It's going to hurt a lot."

Dio tried to stop this ridiculous idea of hers once again.

"Promises, promises!"

She joked and puffed down her white shirt while exposing her collarbone.

In situations like this, they learn that they should handle it like removing a bandage—quickly.

Dio tapped her collarbone with the wires as she spoke again, perhaps to hurry him up.

The effect was quick, as if Rose's body had taken a kick from a horse. She was thrown backward and knocked over the weapon shelf onto her body.

Dio placed the wire in a safe place and started to get Rose's body while doing his best to ignore the smell of burnt flesh coming from her.

Rose is unconscious, and there is a third-degree burn on her collarbone, but she is breathing normally.

Dio used his vision to closely inspect the wound.

The regeneration can't be seen with the naked eye because her healing factor isn't as strong as his, but Dio could see the skin regenerating into something new.

Rose was going to be fine.

Dio would have to use his spell to heal her if she weren't, and she would definitely find that experience much worse than getting shocked.

Before taking her, Dio looked at Rose's stolen equipment. He could leave it here, but she deserves a reward after this ordeal.

So, Dio put everything in his magical space and left in return a small bag filled with rubies, diamonds, and emeralds.

The total was about twenty thousand dollars—enough to cover the damages and the weapons.

Then Dio picked up Rose like a princess and walked out of the store.

It didn't take long to locate the Titans.

Dio knew their phone numbers by heart due to his memory.

Afterward, they agreed to meet at another house, one that Robin ensured was empty by hacking the owners' accounts—they are away.

This isn't something they normally do, but they broke into someone else's property because they were being chased by the government and one of the best killers in the world.

Once they arrived, he placed the unconscious Rose in one of the rooms, along with Robin and Aqualad.

Then they began to discuss what had happened.

Dio's story wasn't nearly as interesting as theirs.

He was right when he suspected that when they attacked the person they thought was throwing the grenade, a crazy chase through the city started and took all of their attention away.

It was a simple plan on Deathstroke's part, but the brilliance was in the details.

First, he hired a professional getaway driver to drive getaway vehicles after crimes, so the rarely caught guy earned his money by causing them trouble.

Secondly, he put something on the motorbike that made Kid Flash fall to the ground every time he got close to it.

After capturing him, Robin examined the small disk-shaped device about thirty centimeters long attached to the side of the bike.

According to him, the device was created by S.T.A.R. Labs. It emitted a small and low-frequency sound that caused dizziness.

This type of sound mine was designed as a non-lethal weapon but was not mass-produced due to its cost.

How did Deathstroke manage to do such a thing?

He must have stolen the plans and paid a small fortune for some engineers to build it.

Thirdly, The driver continued racing through traffic and people, Raven and Starfire couldn't shoot him from a distance.

This was also planned since a getaway driver usually does the exact opposite most of the time.

After some time, Robin realized this.

He used his thoughts and a map to guess the driver's next move, which was that he seemed to be moving with forced momentum.

Aqualad stopped his motorbike and caught the driver.

"Now that we finally got the girl, even in such an unexpected way, what are we going to do with her now?"

Robin asked while sitting at the kitchen table in his new suit.

After becoming a teenager, Robin gave up his light orange suit and started wearing an armor-like suit with dark orange on the front and black sides.

He also wore all-black pants, boots, gloves with three spikes sticking out of the sides of their arms, and a yellow belt.

The black mask still covered only his eyes, leaving them white, and a yellow "R" on a black background on his chest.

This was kind of a leadership meeting, and present in it were Dio, Aqualad, and Robin.

'How did I end up here?'

Dio really had no idea since he never wanted to be a leader, at least not this early.

"Any ideas?"

Robin asked Dio.

Dio didn't need much time to think about what to do while knowing a bit more about Rose.

"All she wants is to escape from her father and stay off the government's radar; let's help with that."

Dio gave his opinion.

Aqualad nodded at him to confirm.

He's also wearing his new suit.

He changed the colors, but it was still made of an Atlantean material that felt like a skin-tight diving suit.

The top is now red, and the bottom is light green.

The clothes have no features other than the golden buckle that looks like an upside-down "V" and the small gray backpack on his back, which holds his weapons and some water that flows through the suit to keep him at his peak.

Seeing both of them agreeing, Robin nodded and said, "Well, then we need to plan well because it won't be easy to get her out of this city."

He was never more correct than at this moment.

...

"Update."

The A.R.G.U.S. leader said this while sitting at a desk in an office and looking down at some documents that had just arrived.

The green military uniformed Major Nicholson stood in front of the desk and pointed to the photographs of recent events, starting with the explosion.

"We lost them for a few minutes after the parking lot, until this explosion caused by Deathstroke led to a major chase through the streets while Kírix and Rose were fleeing a battle against Deathstroke."

Major Nicholson spoke while slowly reading the documents in her hands.

"So, he was already in the country, probably tracking his daughter; that's his style."

The leader said.

"Yes, ma'am, the analysts also concluded that, but we couldn't intercept the signal from her tracker, but we're still trying."

"Forget it; these kids aren't fools. One of them probably dealt with it already; my bet is on the demigod."

"I understand, but how should we proceed now, ma'am? Deathstroke's early arrival has thrown all our plans out the window."

"No matter what, everything is going as we wanted anyway. Now Deathstroke already has a good reason to accept our future attack proposal, if necessary."

The leader laughed while placing the neatly arranged papers on the desk and looking at the Major for the first time.

"Are you sure that's enough, ma'am? I don't want to be disrespectful, but so far, Deathstroke has stayed away from matters involving Superhero. I don't see how just this little fight would be enough to make him accept a contract to kill all the Titans if necessary."

One of the objectives of this mission was to create a weapon if necessary in the future.

Deathstroke would be the perfect weapon, but since he never accepts jobs involving heroes.

The Leader needed something to motivate him, and his daughter was the perfect reason.

"Deathstroke has already seen one of his children die in front of him. So, after he discovers another child, he's gonna train her like crazy while wanting to make his daughter better than him, not to succeed him but to make her strong enough to survive anything. Yes, Major, that's all it takes."

A terrorist known as The Jackal kidnapped Joseph Wilson in order to force his father to reveal specific information.

In the end, his son had his throat cut in front of him and his mother, Adeline Kane.

"I understand, ma'am. Should I continue trying to capture Rose to maintain the misconception?"

Major Nicholson asked still not convinced of the plan.

"Yes, but keep the same contingent. I'm already bogged down in politics because of Steve Trevor, another of the 'gifts' your 'initiative' gave me."

The Leader said with her voice that she was a bit irritated now.

Steve Trevor really took advantage of the Leader's action, but what he doesn't know is that these orders actually came from his superiors.

There is yet another government "black order" that no one knows about.

Still, the misconception must be maintained, so she has to deal with the bureaucracy, which in the end will lead to nothing.
