Chapter Six

I rushed forward, my sword slicing through the necks of two minotaurs, turning them to dust as I landed on one foot and pivoted.

Blood splattered on the walls as the blade dug into the flesh, and magic stones tore out of the dead body's chests and flew into my bag along with any horns that would remain after the husks turned to ash.

My two days were almost up, but I still had the whole night ahead of me, so I would continue to grind, but that was not the point right now.

If there is indeed a maximum number, I could be wasting my time.

With a sigh, I turned around to head back to the surface, sheathing my sword and putting my hands behind my head.

Usually, the dungeon was cruel, adventurers would not sheath their weapons until they reached the surface, but right now...

I kicked a frog into the wall.

It didn't really matter. Maybe it would be harder on the lower floors but right now, reinforcing my body with mana was sufficient to be significantly stronger than the mobs.

I continued my uninterrupted walk, not really wanting to pay attention to anything but doing so anyway. It's only been a week and it already got repetitive. Go down, kill some monsters, get out, update status, rinse, and repeat.

If my status updated automatically, as any self-respecting status should, I would not have to go to the surface at all unless I was hungry.

I huffed out an irritated breath and upped my pace.

___

"You know goddess, if you are going to flip out every time, maybe I should buy a cloth to wrap around your mouth."

I mumble, ignoring the glare that bore into my back along with the fist that impacted my head. The Goddess huffed in irritation and went back to reading my status.

"You have four options as developmental abilities. Which is absurd, mind you. The first one is duel wield, shadow lurk, flashing blade, and jagged strike... Have I mentioned that this hasn't happened before?"

She asked conversationally as if nothing was abnormal, but I wasn't feeling it right now. I recognized those skills, and all of them were very useful.

"Shadow Lurk."

I said curtly, suppressing a scowl. Why were those skills here? Those weren't supposed to exist.

"Okay! And we are done!"

She pressed a paper on my back for a few seconds and presented it to me. Grabbing it, I looked over it and hummed in thought... So, one thousand five hundred was the maximum rank which was EX...

All of my stats were one thousand five hundred, even, turned to I-0 again along with my level up.

I raised my eyebrow at the magic. Another one from before.

With a sigh, I folded the paper and put it in my pocket.

"Hey, Bell, are you busy today? If not, we can-"

I raised a hand, bending down to grab the bag of minotaur horns, and slung it onto my back.

"Sorry goddess, I need to get these to a smith to make a weapon, after that, I'll be going back down into the dungeon."

She deflated and I just patted her head as I put a bag of Valis down on the table.

"This is today's haul, goddess, don't spend it all in one place."

I chuckled as I walked out of the church's basement, maybe I could renovate this place... but that might attract some unwanted guests if I turned a run-down church into a house.

I shrugged as I walked back to the Babel tower to meet up with Welf.

The walk didn't take that long, I was there in less then half an hour at a sedated walking pace. When I arrived, Welf was already there, waiting with a grin and a hand on a small box that was on the counter.

I waved a hand in greeting, walking closer.

"Good afternoon, Welf."

His grin widened as he raised a hand in response, offering his own greeting and patting the box on the counter.

"I made what you wanted, the box was a little tricky though, but it went smoothely."

I nodded and handed him the bag. He raised an eyebrow and grabbed it, opening it to look inside, His other eyebrow joined its brother after that.

I looked inside of the box and spotted what I wanted, Kusarigame with red blades and black handles. I humed as I grabbed both of them, gripping the handles and throwing one into the air while spinning the other. They felt good in hand.

Looks like Welf was not a one hit wonder indeed.

"How did you find so many minatour horns... in two days?"

I looked over at him and shrugged. I couldn't very well tell him that now, could I?

He looked back down at the bag and I looked over at the contraption I wanted made. Placing the two weapons down in the box, I grabbed the small box that would be situated on by belt, above my tailbone and looked it over. Sending a bit of mana inside of it, I inspected the internal mechanism and nodded.

Talent at its finest in this one...

"Alright, how much do I owe you?"

Welf hummed and put the bag of minatour horns on the counter.

"Tell you what, make a contract with me. You take me with you to the dungeons, and anything I make from the loot drops you give me is free."

I frowned and shook my head.

"I'll take you to the dungeon, but I can't just take everything you make for free, you spend time and effort making them."

He chuckled.

"Fine then, Bell, anything I make for you is 50% off."

I raised an eyebrow.

"Anything you make is full price, but depending on the amount of material I bring you, the costs go down, and if the material is hard to work with, I pay you more."

We stared at each other for a moment.

"Why are we arguing over giving each other better deals?"

I shrugged.
