A Night at School I

Adrian and Jihan said goodbye to their new classmates as they headed home. Even though the three of them wanted to come to their place, Adrian and Jihan refused saying that the place is not yet set up or messy. The two headed to their temporary base which is just walking distance away from their current school.

"What do you think of the strange disturbances that they have told us?" Jihan asked Adrian as he is more of a paranormal expert compared to him.

"I do not know if it is really paranormal, or someone used abilities in order to do those things. There only people that I sensed that has abilities in school classroom are the both of us. The other one is the teacher that we are investigating while the other one is in the room next to us that has almost the same aura as you." Adrian replied.

"I guess we really need to go to school then. Why do ghosts or spirits become more active at night though?" Jihan stated as they needed to investigate at night which he does not like.

"You can view it like the living acts as the static in their reality. We are interference but there are ways to bypass that. The chaotic mess of emotions make it hard for ghosts or spirits to move during the day in which there are a lot of people." Adrian replied.

"You mean they need to grow powerful enough to bypass the interference. I just hope that it is not a ghost or spirit because it would be troublesome as an opponent. Has Whiz already have access to the school security system?" Jihan stated.

"He has as I already plugged the drive that he told me to when our computer class was going on. I left it there and I plugged it at the back where it will not be bothered." Adrian replied.

"I guess all we need to do is wait for night to arrive." Jihan stated as they waited until no more students are in the school.

=====

Two figures could be seen climbing the gate of the school and landing on the other side without much noise. They looked around to see if the security guard is around, but he was not. Thanks to Whiz hacking the surveillance system of the school, they have about four hours of camera invisibility.

"The guard is still here and is currently making his rounds. How should we proceed?" Jihan asked.

"I just need to touch him to put him to sleep. I can do it from a distance, but it will not be as effective or might not last as long." Adrian replied.

"We will just cross that bridge after we see him them. Let us pray that he does not encounter us as it would be troublesome." Jihan stated as they entered the building that they will first investigate.

Adrian and Jihan went to the gym lockers that is located just beside the gymnasium. The three of their classmates stated that it was belongings in the locker room that suddenly vanished and are found in another location.

"I think this is not something paranormal but just a prank by the other students. I am pretty sure that they are stressed from all the studying that they want to vent it somewhere." Jihan stated as he encountered something like that when he was a high school student.

"We just need to be sure. I cannot even ask the spirits near the school or inside the school." Adrian stated.

"Why can't you ask them?" Jihan asked.

"For some strange reason, they are extremely wary of me and are keeping distance. Well, I just need to find one ghost that does not care about people and like to do what they want." Adrian stated as he knows that his abilities are increasing day by day.

The spirits could also feel the power of the underworld from him which is why they are avoiding him. Some of the spirits lingering still does not want to pass through to the other side. They are not completely avoiding Adrian as they are just keeping a safe distance and observing.

"Tell me, are the Grim Reapers still active in this country?" Adrian asked Jihan which shocked the latter.

"How did you know? I mean, why do you know of the grim reapers? It is forbidden to see them because they will drag your soul to hell." Jihan replied with a shocked expression.

"Really?! I guess it is different for this country because I always see grim reapers back in my home country." Adrian stated which suddenly made Jihan curious.

"What do they look like? And how were you able to live even though you have seen one?" Jihan asked as they are now searching the lockers for something supernatural.

"It depends on the country as they take different shapes and sizes. It also depends on who are the ones being punished." Adrian stated as he was the one to make the rule to create grim reapers as a form of atonement.

"You mean to say that they are employed? Does that mean I can be a grim reaper when I die?" Jihan stated jokingly but at the same time he is still curious.

"It depends on the weight of your sins. I was told that they will carry their sentences for different number of years depending on the gravity of their sins. You could probably become one by betraying your country or leading a mass genocide, but you must still be judged if you are atonable." Adrian stated as he cited a few examples.

"No thank you. If there is one thing that I will not abandon, then that is my honor. I do not want to be remembered as someone who sold their country or killed thousands of people. How are you so knowledgeable about this?" Jihan asked.

"I interviewed a grim reaper when my neighbor died. You know that they must wait for forty days before the soul could transition to the afterlife. Pretty interesting conversation if you ask me." Adrian stated as Jihan looked at the former with a dumbfounded expression.
