Light of Change

"I can't move!"my weak voice resounded in the darkness.

After a short moment of silence, muffled steps could be heared behind what seemed to be a door.

"I'm glad that you woke up! We thought that you would be out cold for at least a week!" As the person spoke a bright live enveloped the room. It was a spacious spital room with two other beds in it. One of them was empty and on the other an indiscernible figure covered with a thick bed sheet.

I looked around and my eyes stopped on the figure near the door. A thin and tall man dressed with a long lab coat shoot me long glance as he was searching for something in the medical drawer.

"You should be very glad that you survived that explosion, your whole house was in shambles when our team arrived."

Trying to lift the heavy fog that covered my mind I shook my head really hard. A few memories emerged from a corner of my mind, sending me into a turmoil of emotions. The blinding light, the damned insuportable heat... No, it can't be!

"My parents, where are they?!"

"Unfortunately, we couldn't keep them alive...and the house didn't make it either."

He took out a syringe filled with a transparent and viscous liquid. Only after he got next to me I realized that needle was for me. I put on a suspicous look, but I was quivering on the inside. The cold light in the hospital made the neeedle look eerie, if not even etheral. The news about my parents hit me very hard, but strangely it didn't affect me as much as I would have thought. Maybe it's the effect of adrenaline?

"What is that?"

"It's granocyte. It's a type of antibiotic used for treating infected burn wounds. "

"Why would I need to be treated for bur...nt wounds?"

I shoot a quick glance at my body and saw that it was covered in numerous bandages and a tube was potruding out of my limping hand. How did I not notice that I was covered in them?!

"But I can't feel anything."

"It may be an effect of adrenaline, or maybe your previous dose of antibiotics."

The next second, my hand seemed to move on it's own and it tore trough all the bandages. The doctor jumped to stopp me, but it was to late.

"Why would you do that you dumba..."his words got stuck in his throat after he saw what was beneath the bandages. It was a white pink, but healthy skin. Both of us stared in a daze and a scary thought ran trough my head.

'I'm being kidnaped. These things were all a pretext just to drug me and sell my organs. Maybe my parents are still alive!'

I tried to keep a poket face, but it crumbeled when I looked outside trought the window and saw a few tall buildings in the night sky. My town didn't have such tall buildings.

"How could you be already healed? You stayed just for two da..."

He was interupted by me again as I sprinted past him with full speed. Poor guy, it was the second time he was interrupted by me in our small conversation. The person in the second bed woke up during the comotion and I caught a glimps of her. She had olive skin and green eyes, which both were uncommon in this part of the Earth. She must be kidnapped to!

"Run!!" I shouted at her as I was running.

To my surprise, the corridor was full of people, but the light was too dim to make up any details. None of the figures were chasing me and the atmosphere seemed strange. A blood curling scream of a child sent a shiver down my spine. The doctor got out of the room and screamed after me.

"Get back, we still aren't sure if you are fully healed!"

'Still keeping the facade, isn't he.'

I managed to get to the entrance in time without anyone catching me and fortunately, at the entrance I found a few cops. Strange, who does illegal bussines while they have police at their doorstep.

I made my way to them and tapped one of them on the shoulder.

"Help me!"

"What is it kid?"said the woman.

"I was kidnapped by the people in this building and I barely escaped."

'I wouldn't really call it a hard escape, after all no one stopped me...' Strangely, they looked at me as if I just told them that I ate a dragon.

"Are you sure, because that is a hospital."one of them said finally.

My first thought was that they were part of the bussines, but I turned my head and saw a panel that written with big letters saying "HOSPITAL". I'll be damned...that really was just a hosptal nothing else. I turned to them with an embarassed look, remembering the warning I gave to the girl around my age. 'But that means my parents really are...'As if they read my thoughts, the woman changed the subject.

"Wait a minute, aren't you Alec Kusher."

"Yes... yes that's my name... I think."
