THE MEETING

"God, my head is on fire" Kathlyn said rubbing her forehead. She groaned in agony as she stood up from the bed. The rays of sunlight streaming in from the window increased the ache in her head. She found her way to the bathroom and placed her head on the wall to ease the pain. The cold from the tiles eased the dull ache in her head making her sigh. She tilted her head to the side when she saw that she was wearing a T-shirt and a short. She could not remember changing into these. She simply stripped out of them and turned the faucet on without paying much mind to her realization. The cold water splashed on her skin making her moan lightly. She pushed her hair back, sucked in a deep breath and let the water hit her face.

She got out of the shower five minutes later and blow dried her hair before massaging oil into it gently. She threw on a pair of jean trousers and a black chiffon shirt, packed her hair in a bun and made her way out of the room. The kitchen was a mess. She tried to recall what happened the previous night but she had no recollection of what happened.

She rummaged through the cupboard and brought out a pan. She opened the counter drawer and sighed in relief when she found the chicken Jasmine brought the previous day.

"This stinks" She commented in disappointment after smelling the chicken. She dumped it in the bin and pulled her hair to ease the hurt in her head. She tapped her back pocket to bring out her phone when it started ringing. "Jas."

"You are alive. Thank Goodness. You disappeared on me last night" Jasmine said, relief evident in her tone.

"What do you mean? How did I come home?"

"I don't know. You probably went with some hot guy" Jas replied nonchalantly.

"What? What sort of a friend are you?" She chided.

"I could not leave the hot Italian guy, girl. I have always wanted to fuck an Italian and I could not pass last night when one walked up to me. Sorry" Jas apologized but she did not sound like she was sorry. Kathlyn rolled her eyes and her shoulders slumped in disappointment. She let out a sigh and pinched her eyebrows together.

"I will give you a call later, Jas." She hung up the phone and threw it on the counter top. She was disappointed in her friend but she did not want to hurt her feelings by informing her about it. Jasmine's words played in her head causing her to panic. Who was it that brought her to the house the previous night? What did they do? Who changed her out of her clothes? "God, I will go crazy" She said pushing the thoughts to the back of her head and choosing to concentrate on making breakfast.

She pondered on what to make for breakfast and finally settled for cereal because she neither had any strength to cook nor money to order out. Her mind went to her landlord and she wondered if there was another notice stuck to her door rightnow. For the sake of her dignity, she hoped that whoever brought her home the previous night had not seen a notice pasted on her door. That would have been totally embarrassing.

After eating, she laid down on the couch to think about the activities of the past week. It had been an eventful and troubling week. She remembered the job interview she had the previous day and wondered if she would get the job. The thought pushed her to stand up and go get her laptop. She opened her mailbox and started going through her inbox when she came across a message from Dreams. Her heart skipped a beat and her fingers danced above her keypad as she thought about if to open the message or not to.

She eventually opened it and read through each line, feeling adrenaline rush through her veins at the unexpected news. She read through the message again to be sure her eyes were not playing any tricks on her. It was real. Her eyes were not playing tricks on her. Her hands flew to her mouth in astonishment as she stared at the message.

"OMG! This is unbelievable" She screamed. A small laugh escaped her lips. She rose up from her seat and paced around the room in excitement and disbelief. "This is surreal" She squealed and hurried over to the kitchen and picked her phone off the counter and dialed Jasmine's number.

"Kathlyn, you need a man" Jas said immediately she picked up the phone making Kathlyn laugh.

"What? Why would you say that?"

"You miss me too much and you cannot live without me. If you have a man in your life, you won't call me so much."

"You are my best friend" Kathlyn said feeling hurt that Jas would even say something like that.

"I promise that as soon as you have a boyfriend, I won't be the first you call when something happens" Jasmine swore. Kathlyn was short of words. She swallowed and rolled her eyes but chose to not say anything more in her defense.

"I got the job" She said instead. The line went silent for a few seconds before Jas let out an ear piercing scream.

"What the fuck?" Kathlyn said pulling the phone away from her ear.

"This is good news. I never thought you would get it."

"Me neither. I did not get the position I applied for though. I got the position of a personal assistant to Adam Smith" She informed.

"Oww! You are going to be working directly with Adam Smith? That is incredible. This means you get to go to hotels and different places with him. This also gives you the perfect chance to have sex with him" Jas suggested excitedly.

"Christ, Jas. Do not say things like that. He is my boss now" Kathlyn chastised. A blush was creeping up her cheeks at the thought of everything her friend said but she was trying to push it to the back of her mind. It was inappropriate to think about Adam like that since they would be working together.
