Team pt.1

Suki chuckled at Bruce's sudden tense look which was a breath of fresh air, as he always looked way too chill in any situation, "I really love your expression right now, you finally look cute for once."

Bruce coughed with awkwardness as he sort of got lost in his thoughts for a while, losing his composure.

"Afraid that I wasn't going to like you?"

'Damn! Is it me or the whole thing about a woman's intuition real,' Bruce looked at her teasing smile as he rolled his eyes, "I am."

"That's a good thing, then." Suki laughed, "It just means you care about me enough to think that way. But hey, I like you too so you don't have to think too much. And unless you're a crazy psychopathic serial killer, I am still going to keep liking you."

"Is it me or you've got some issues." Bruce couldn't help but chuckle at her answer, "Like your standards are like very low."

"That's good for you then, is it not?"

"I am still like in the top 1% with my looks alone, you know."

With the whole situation getting back to normal, they continued with their flirting and teasing one another, and spent their whole day together on a peaceful date.

-The next day-

"I found out why you were so excited." Cipher's voice rang from the other side of the phone,

"Now's not a good time."

"It's John Wick, isn't it?" Cipher said seemingly satisfied with herself, "He's caused a havoc in New York, and is heading for Miami. But I can't understand why he would go so far for a dog."

"It's not our problem to judge why he is doing what he is doing," Bruce said a bit annoyed at how Cipher was acting, the cold psychopathic image he had of her was fading by the minute as her obsession to be the smartest person in the room was a bit annoying to him, "I'll call you back later."

Hanging up without a second warning, he turned back to the people gathered today, "I apologize, for the interruption."

Working solo was how he usually did things. The only time he worked with someone was on a mission with Perkins. It was during his 3rd month in the continental, when a client wanted him and Perkins to spy on his associates, which he believed were skimming money off the top.

The job was simple, just spy on them and get in their system to get their accounting records and confirm whether they were guilty or not. If they were, they had to wipe them out, and if they weren't orders were to leave them alone.

After a week of recon, they concluded that these guys weren't guilty but the money they were making came from human trafficking, which they were running as a side hustle. Since their job was over, Perkins wanted to leave.

But seeing the sight, where children and women were put in cage-like animals, just left to rot in a puddle of their own excrements something in him snapped.

And he did things some things he wasn't quite proud of. Things he wanted to forget.

So teaming up again felt a bit weird as it began bringing back memories, something he wasn't fond of. But he believed things would be different this time around.

Not only was this a necessity, but if he wanted to survive in this world now that he was a freeman, he needed friends and contacts. People he could trust. So this was good practice for him as this job wasn't complicated.

"I am spying on this drug lord, Carter Verone," Bruce said in front of the group, that was going to be his first team ever.

The first was Suki obviously, and the remaining two were, Brian and Roman who he was meeting for the first time.

"For now, I am mainly just looking around gathering intel but later on, is the more important part of the job." Bruce continued,

"As Brian and Roman here already know, Carter is transferring his drug money away from Miami and with the F.B.I and the U.S customs being on the lookout for him, he has decided to hire some drivers, so they could quickly transfer his money and be out of the city as quickly as they can."

"So Brian and Roman are the two drivers?" Suki asked looking at him seriously,

Brian and Roman who were sitting next to them nodded, surprised that the guy that they had never even heard of before today knew everything that the F.B.I were keeping a secret.

"And also these two guys here are stuck with the operation, as they are now working as double agents." Bruce continued, "So both of your jobs is quite simple, just do what you've been told to do and keep your mouths shut about whatever you see."

"By that, you mean ignore whatever you do?" Brian asked as Bruce nodded at him, normally in his experience of being a cop he wasn't the type to trust someone easily but since Suki assured his identity, he decided to trust Bruce enough to give him the benefit of the doubt.

"Do you know about the guest that Carter bought yesterday?"

"That weasel-looking show-off?" Roman said as he chewed on his burger looking quite annoyed as it was clear to see that they weren't becoming friends any time soon, "He wanted us to drive him around like we were his servants."

"Yeah, what's up with that guy?" Brian said, "Even the F.B.I didn't seem to have any records on him, and he completely wasn't part of this plan. His bodyguards aren't quite normal too,"

"That guy is Iosef Tarasov, someone that's about to die soon, that's why he walks around basically like a turtle in its shell with all the people around him to delay the inevitable." Bruce said, "And you guys really don't want to be around the time that happens."

"You know him?" Brian asked narrowing his eyes, "And he's about to die?"

"I knew his father. Look at me already talking in the past tense," Bruce chuckled a little, "Yeah, that guy touched something that shouldn't be touched."

"But enough about that, this shouldn't be any of your concern and I'll warn you if the man comes over for his revenge so you don't get mixed in the crossfire." Bruce said, "Tell me about the job that Carter has assigned you."

"It is as you've said, they want us to take the money and go back to what I am assuming is his escape route," Brian said,

"That makes things easier then, and Carter would be leaving with the money I am presuming?"

"Yes." Brian nodded, "But you're wrong about one thing. There are three drivers."
