Resumen

She gave up her dream of shining on the ballerina stage —for him. She sacrificed her self-respect —for him. She forgot her true identity —for him. But even after all that, she couldn’t compare to the woman who held Ryan’s heart. Arwen Quinn, heiress of prestigious Quinn family, realized too late that no matter what she did, she would never win Ryan’s love. The future that awaited her was a life trapped in endless misery of a loveless marriage. So, decisively, she ends their relationship and walks away. What she didn’t expect was that in breaking free from Ryan, she had opened the door for Aiden to enter her life — a chance that he had been waiting for. Aiden Winslow, an enigmatic CEO isn’t just mysterious —he is determined, and won’t allow to take Arwen away from him again. ____ Excerpt: Aiden narrowed his eyes, “Are you sure about this?” “If I wasn’t sure, I wouldn’t have asked,” Arwen replied coolly. “Stop dawdling. If you’re unwilling, I’ll find someone else who can get the marriage certificates today.” His expression darkened as he pulled her close. “Once offered to me, it’s mine alone.” Unfazed, Arwen asked, “So, do you accept? If yes, we’ll get the certificates now.” “On one condition,” he said. “I don’t do contract marriages. The woman I marry will be the woman I share my bed with. If you agree, then we’ll—” “Not a problem. Let’s go,” Arwen said without letting him finish, pulling him into the Civil Marriage Bureau.

Chapter 1Just hold on for a little longer.

17 Cross Road, near Palace Road, was prone to accidents—especially when someone was tailgating.

"Boss, we were only tasked to scare her. But if she keeps driving at that speed, she might crash further up the road," one of the two men chasing the Mercedes spoke with a tone that was tinged with worry.

But the other man who was sitting on the driving seat was unfazed. He chuckled and commented sadistically, "Let her crash and die then. We might have been ordered to only scare her, but the boss didn't say that she couldn't accidentally die. If she does, that's her bad luck."

After that, the two cars zoomed down the lane. While one was trying to escape, the other relentlessly pushed the first to its limit.

And the inevitable happened soon. On the dark route, the Mercedes met with a deadly crash, halting the air in serene silence. The car that had been tailing it stopped meters away, and the man in the driver's seat pulled out his phone to make the call.

"Boss, the job is done. Ms. Quinn has successfully gotten into an accident," he reported and then slowly retreated from the spot as if he and his car had never been there.

17 Cross Road was closest to the highway, but since it was in the deserted zone, not many people were around. When the accident happened, no one was there to call the ambulance. Arwen knew this well, so she didn't expect any help to come.

With the head bleeding and limbs painfully trapped, she tried to make the call. Her breath was ragged, and every slight movement sent waves of excruciating pain through her body.

"Arwen, don't give up yet. This can't kill you." She encouraged herself before slowly bending to retrieve her phone which had slipped onto the floorboard earlier. "Arhhh!" she winced, feeling her flesh tear as she bent down. The pain was agonizing- given a choice, she would have rather die than endure it.

But she couldn't do that now. She had a person to return to. She couldn't leave him alone in the world after promising to stay with him forever.

Just for him, she would choose to suffer. Even if it meant hell, she would do it.

Grasping the phone, she took in a deep breath as she slowly speed-dialled his number. It was a difficult task- not only her fingers were shaking, but she was slowly feeling it all go numb. Her life felt like it was slowly slipping away her body.

"Ryan, I will wait for you. Come and save me soon." She murmured to her heart, confident that he would hear her call through the bond they shared. After all, for all the years she had known him, she could hear him without him saying anything.

After several attempts, she was finally able to dial. But instead of getting connected, she was notified that he was busy over another call. She didn't hang-up, choosing instead to wait for him to answer. But despite her faith, it seemed that the person on the other end was impatient.

With a beep of rejection, she was notified that the caller was busy and could not accept her call at the moment. Her heart clenched. Although this wasn't the first time of him rejecting her call, given the situation today, she thought he might act differently.

Her heart painfully twitched, but she reached out to caress it, urging herself to not give up yet. He would come around soon. With all her effort, he would turn around and appreciate her love. Just hold on for a little longer.

A sad smile curled her lips as she once again managed to manipulate her heart into believing.

Yes, she knew that she was manipulating it into hoping something that might not be true. After all, eight years wasn't a short time. If it were going to turn out in her favour, it would have by now.

But still, she wouldn't let go of it easily. She would believe, even if it was impossible. Just one more time- if she doesn't die. If he comes to save her … if he makes her grab onto that string of hope himself. Then maybe she would believe in their relationship one more time.

Arwen felt the consciousness slipping away- slowly, gradually. Maybe there was no longer time left for her to believe in the impossible. This was her time to let go and accept fate.

A resigned sigh left her lips as she readied herself to embrace the death that now seemed inevitable. Her eyelashes flickered, slowly drooping close.

She tried to look outside to see if there was anyone to save her, but her vision blurred. She wasn't sure if it was due to her injuries or the smoke from the crash. She couldn't see anything clearly outside. Perhaps no one was there. Otherwise, they would have come to help or call the ambulance.

"Accept it, Arwen. This was it. You can no longer escape." She said slowly, lamenting her situation. But then, suddenly, she caught something moving outside from the corner of her eyes. It looked like some brightness appeared at a distance.

Could it be that someone came to her rescue? Could it be Ryan?

She wished it was him. Then, even if she died today, she would feel satisfied knowing she had made his heart change. Her efforts and care for him didn't go to waste, and she finally made him care for her in return.

Clinging to the last string of consciousness, she forced herself to stay awake- just to make sure that it was him. And she wasn't disappointed when she saw him finally appear amidst the smoke.

Even though she was experiencing a hell of pain, her lips turned up in happiness. He did hear her. He came to save her. "Ryan, you came to save me. I knew you would. I knew you would come to …" she mumbled, but her words paused faltered when, instead of advancing towards her, she saw him turn to the other car.

So when he meets the cute and naive Lucinda Perry at the club, he decides to keep his true identity from her and find out if she was worth keeping. ***Excerpt*** What is more entertaining than a crazy side character? Say hello to Sonia and Bryan. Sonia's heart stopped beating for a second, and then different thoughts started flying right through her head at that same time. Bryan Hank? Her celebrity crush was kneeling right in front of her and asking her to be his wife? Was he mistaking her for someone? Was it possible this was a skit, or maybe this was like one of those celebrity pranks, and there were cameras around, waiting to capture her make a fool of herself? Or perhaps she was dreaming? Sonia wondered as she looked around them, but all she saw were curious onlookers. "Please! Be my wife and make me the happiest man on Earth," He said in a very loud voice that caught the attention of everyone. Her editor who she had been waiting on for over an hour because he was trying to sign a deal with a movie producer who was interested in one of her stories, showed up at that moment, "Sonia, you know Bryan Hank?" Her editor asked in genuine surprise as he watched the scene before him. It seemed like an hour had passed since Bryan went on his knees, but it had only been a minute. Bryan knew no lady would be crazy enough to accept such a crazy proposal, and even if any were, paying her off and calling off the whole thing would be easy since all he wanted was the scandal that could come from this. The headlines were either going to be about his rejected Marriage proposal or his supposed engagement, which would be enough to let Sophia off the hook. "Yes!" Sonia said as she bobbed her head excitedly and extended her finger for him to wear her the ring. "Yes?" Bryan asked in confusion when he heard her response. "Yes! I will be your wife and make you the happiest man in the world!" Sonia said with a giggle and wiggled her fingers until Bryan slid the ring down her finger. Surprisingly the ring was her exact size, and it sat on her finger like it was made just for her. The sound of applause erupted all around them as Sonia stood up with a big smile on her face and embraced Bryan before kissing him right on the lips. Bryan was slightly taken aback by her boldness but quickly recovered since this was his game, and he had to play along. He was the one who had approached her first, after all. So when she tried to break the kiss, he held her chin and slowly nibbled on her lower lip before parting her lips with his tongue and sucked on it in a teasing manner, eliciting a moan from Sonia. Sonia felt light-headed. This was too good to be true. It just had to be a dream. How else could she explain that one moment she was seated at the lobby of a hotel waiting for her editor, and the next she was engaged to her celebrity crush and was kissing him right here in the open? Dear readers, This Author has come first to review the book. Hope you all won't mind. After all someone has to be first. You all didn't choose it, so I had to. Let me tell you a little secret🤫—this book will become like your favorite snack. You will start with just one bite, and will slowly crave more, without realizing what fascinated you so much. Sorry in advance for being repetitive but allow me -this is the story of Arwen Quinn, a woman who’s had enough of waiting for her prince to stop being a frog 🐸 Spoiler alert: she doesn’t wait around for him to change. (Cue the standing ovation👏.) Instead, she puts on her heels—well, maybe a sensible pair of flats, considering her situation—and struts out of the toxic mess we call a relationship. But don’t worry, folks, she wouldn't be wandering into a lonely sunset. Before the jerk exits, Aiden Wislow, the enigmatic CEO will make an entry in her life. He wouldn't just want her heart—he would want the whole package, including the marriage certificate... like, yesterday. And believe me, this isn’t your typical second-chance romance where the female lead wavers between her past and future. Arwen is decisive—she knows what she wants, and she wouldn't be afraid to make it happen, even if it means signing a marriage contract with a man who has the audacity to tell her, “No contract marriages here. If we marry, you’re sharing my bed.” I know, swoon-worthy, right🙈? So, what are you all still waiting for? This novel is filled with heart-pounding moments, a touch of humor (because what’s life without a little snark?), and the kind of romance that makes you believe in second chances, not just in love, but in life. If you’re looking for a story where the female lead doesn’t just get her happy ending but practically demands it with a side of sass, then grab a cup of tea (or something stronger), find a cozy spot, and dive in. Happy reading, and remember—sometimes walking away is the best way to find out where you truly belong. Your dearest Author
