Towards the Docks

After the attendant showed Kita his room, She went back to her work. Kita locked the door behind him and then walked towards the huge Balcony. It presented him with a clear view of the city in front of him.

It was a huge structure that was designed to host millions of people at any given time. The station acted as a buffer for incoming ships and other traffic. As most spaceships couldn't land on the planet, they usually needed to orbit it instead, The space station acted as a central hub for the planet it was orbiting.

The station was built when the star system had just been opened up for colonization. Although it had since been constantly upgraded as the time went on, it still had an aged feeling to it. As Kita looked at the City in front of him, he could feel the 'age' of it all!

He could see people going on about their day, some getting ready to board ships that were destined for who knows where. This was a hub of activity.

The station offered plenty of room for anyone who may want to stay here for a bit. There were many hotels, just like the one Kita was staying in right now.

The space station was designed to look and feel like any other human city.

After Kita took in the scene, he hopped onto his bed. He was tired, it had been a long day. He hadn't slept for at least the last 3 days. Although the cell he was in had a pretty comfortable bed, he couldn't really sleep on that.

Not that he was a free man, he finally got some sleep.

Kita woke up early the next day. Although, the lines between when the current day ended and the next day began was pretty blurry in the space station. Kita had gotten a good sleep. He saw the time and found out that he had slept for the past 16 hours.

He got out of the bed, after freshening up a bit, he started doing some push-ups. He quickly finished his reps and after a bit of rest, he began to do some more.

After about 500 push-ups, he got up and walked towards the bathroom to take a shower. He opted for a cold shower this morning. It helped to calm him down and wash away all the sweat on his body.

After he came out of the shower, he realized that he didn't have any cloths that he could wear. So he opted to wear the same suit he was wearing yesterday, It had a self-cleaning function, so it wasn't too bad.

After he got ready, he quickly exited his hotel room and walked out of the Hotel. He quickly got in a Pod and headed towards his destination.

His plan for today was to buy some clothes and contact some docks to see if there were any good ships for sale.

So he headed towards the shopping district. There were a few huge malls in this area, Kita entered one of the malls. After looking around for a bit, he entered one of the shops and came out with a few bags in his hands and had changed into some new cloths. He opted for relatively ordinary cloths. He didn't buy anything fancy or expensive, just clothes that any ordinary people could wear.

"I feel hungry all of a sudden"

He hadn't eaten anything since leaving The Red Jack. So he felt hungry. He headed over to a chain eatery and ordered himself a meal before quickly finishing it.

After eating, he felt the energy returning to his body. He stood outside the eatery and looked around, he needed to go to the Docks, but he had all these cloths with him, so he contemplated whether he should go back to the Hotel and drop the cloths off before heading towards the docks.

After thinking for a bit, he didn't know how long it would take at the docks, so he decided against carrying all the cloths with him.

He quickly got into a Pod and headed back towards his Hotel. After dropping off the clothes, he took another pod and headed towards the shuttle stations.

The Docks weren't attached to the space station. Instead, it was attached to an asteroid that also orbited the planet alongside the space station. The shuttle would bring him to the docks.

The Docks enormous with a huge capacity. But only the smaller ships were able to dock here, as this dock didn't support ships more than 700 Meters in length. Those ships needed to go to a class II dock that was meant for such ships.

As the shuttle approached the docks, Kita looked out of the window. He could see Huge spaceships parked here, Most of the bigger ones belonged to huge corporations that used them for hauling goods and other materials throughout the empire. But not all these ships belonged to the corporations. Some of them also belonged to private entities who used them as their mobile home.

In this age of Stars, Many people were beginning to call the ships their home. They usually led a pretty nomadic life. Traveling from places to places, doing businesses along the way.

He could also spot a few smaller ships like Corvettes, Light cruisers and Cruisers parked in the Docks.

These most likely belonged to rich second generations or some scion of some household. But that didn't concern Kita, so he didn't care about them.

As the shuttled dropped him off, he began to walk towards the area where different dealers had their shops. As he approached the area, One of the salesmen noticed him approaching.

As an astute salesman, he knew Kita's intentions. And quickly came over to him.

"Hello there, What brings you to the docks today? Are you looking to buy some ships? If you are, then you've come to the right place." he said with a huge smile on his face.

Kita was taken aback by the sudden approach. He didn't expect someone to notice his motives of coming here. So he asked.

"How didn't you know that I wanted to buy a ship?"

"Call it intuition, call it experience. I know a customer when I see one. Please come with me, Mr...."

"Kita Thiels"

"Mr. Thiels. Pleasure to meet you. Please come with me."

The man led Kita towards his shopfront.
