Blue and Magenta

Magenta Davies and Blue Harrison have been frenemies from day one, and everybody knows it. At Oakstone Academy, there are many things the students can and cannot do, but there is only one golden rule. No fighting. Not physically, nor verbally. But ever since Blue pushed Magenta in the pool when they were eight, a full war broke out between them. Nothing could stop them from wiggling their way around the golden rule and watchful eyes. From small pranks to large scale humiliation, the two of them are experts at battling each other. Neither of them is willing to give in, until the other one drops out. And they both know there’s no chance either will give up. But the year they turn seventeen, things begin to change. For better or worse, Magenta and Blue are about to find out. As they say, there’s a thin line between love and hate.

It Was You

^trigger warning: violence^

Gwendolyn Wells stood in the garage facing the four of them, pointing at them with a knife.

"My my. How sweet." She simpered.

"Gwendolyn? What...wait...you are the one who did this?" Magenta asked.

Gwendolyn brushed pretend-lint off her shoulders and she laughed, her pretty tinkering laugh echoing out.

"Yes, indeed, who'd have thought? The prettiest, smartest girl in Oakstone, secretly behind all of this," Gwendolyn motioned to what was around her.

All the incriminating evidence was in the garage. A lighter on the drawer, another knife on Gwendolyn's belt holder. Notebook paper and scissors with glue.

"And you'll want to know why, or how I did all this?" Gwendolyn said.

"Well, sit down at my tea party, we've got to drink some tea before we play, of course." Gwendolyn smiled.

There were four kiddy chairs on the ground. Surreal, it felt. Blue held Magenta's hand and Shelby and Jasper held each other's hands. They obliged, with a knife pointing at them. They sat down, keeping their eyes on the knife and Gwendolyn, wary and watching her movements.

"Okay, let's start at the beginning. You all know Reese, yes? The boy you dated for a minuscule second. Anyways, he's mine." Gwendolyn said with an all-teeth smile.

The side door of the shop opened and Reese stepped into the garage, also holding a knife. Magenta received the scary shock of her life, and she began trembling again, Blue tried to shield her from any further pain or PTSD effects.

"Now, why is he mine? How is he mine? You're probably wondering," Gwendolyn smiled.

"Do you remember the heart list? That was me and Reese's little thing." Gwendolyn said.

Reese nodded mutely, confirming Gwendolyn's words.

All four of the quartet watched Reese and Gwendolyn, unable to fully understand what was going on. How could Reese be here suddenly? How could Reese and Gwendolyn be involved in this together? Why would Gwendolyn do such a cruel thing?

"I don't want to bore you with the details, but Reese and I go way back. We're not dating, no silly things like that. Rather, he's more, my subordinate to be precise." Gwendolyn said.

It was clear the power play between Gwendolyn and Reese. It looked like Reese wanted to speak, a fire burning in his eyes but he kept silent, his grip tight on his knife. It almost looked like Reese was restraining himself, allowing Gwendolyn to run free. But in that case, Reese was the one calling the shots and not Gwendolyn.

"Anyways, you four ruined our fun! What's the point of a list if you can't add to or finish it? It's all your fault." Gwendolyn drew her knife back, considering her words.

Gwendolyn and Reese looked like a platinum blond version of the Joker and his queen.

"So I have decided I will punish all of you. Twins!" Gwendolyn called, and two pairs of twins came out, taking the pairs away from each other.

The girl twins held onto Shelby and Magenta whilst the guy twins held onto Blue and Jasper.

"No!" Blue gasped the words out, and everyone fought against the twins. But it didn't work, all the twins seemed so strong equally and more against the quartet.

"The nursery rhymes, I got my good old Spider to help me before. He's my half-brother. Also half dead right now oopsies," Gwendolyn said.

"You killed your brother?" Shelby asked, eyes wide.

"No, but I should have. Now shut up," Gwendolyn said.

"Eenie Meenie Minnie mo," Gwendolyn waved her knife over each person there except Reese, who stood next to her.

"ATISHOO, ATISHOO," she continued.

"We all fall down," Gwendolyn muttered.

The twins kicked each of the quartet's knees so they all knelt before Gwendolyn.

"That's more like it," Gwendolyn cackled.

Gwendolyn lifted her hand, spinning with speed towards Magenta, with Blue trying his best to break free so he could protect her, but then Gwendolyn stopped.

"This would probably be more fun. Here, take this." She turned in a wide circle and offered the knife to Jasper, whose eyes were wide and he was sweating.

Jasper didn't know squat about fighting. He and Magenta were the least trained in these things. Blue tried to make eye contact to get Jasper to pass the knife to him or Shelby. But Jasper trembled, only looking at the knife and Gwendolyn.

"Take it. And stab your precious girlfriend," Gwendolyn commanded.

Jasper shook his head, but Gwendolyn brought out her other knife and pressed lightly against his throat. A trickle of blood came from his neck.

"Come again?" She said.

Shelby wailed, as if she was Jasper.

Shelby said, "No! Jas, don't! Gwendolyn, stop!"

Jasper gulped, before taking the knife.

"Why should I? Why should I stop!" Gwendolyn shouted, laughing maniacally.

Jasper couldn't do it, he was bad with blood. Seeing this, Gwendolyn wrenched the knife from Jasper. With a sweep of her hand, Gwendolyn punctured Jasper's thigh.

Jasper pitched forwards, and Gwendolyn allowed Shelby to rush to Jasper, the twin releasing their hold on Shelby. Shelby shuffled towards Jasper, pressing her hands against his bleeding wound.

"Oh god, Jas," Shelby said.

Blue and Magenta kept struggling against the other twins but they were not strong enough, even with Blue's agility he had limited muscle strength.

"Please, Gwendolyn! It's just a bet list you made right? Why are you doing this? You could just let it go, please don't hurt us!" Shelby pleaded.

Gwendolyn shook her head.

"No, it's not just the list. It's about you, Magenta!"

Gwendolyn pointed the knife again at Magenta, who glared up at Shelby.

"It's always about you... first in class, first to get the guys you want, to be loved, first with good best friends. Enough! I want all of it, whatever you had before. I want it all gone," Gwendolyn's anger directed at Magenta and she raised one knife to throw.

Just as Gwendolyn's knife flew at Magenta, Reese's knife intercepted and shot it down.

"Not yet," Reese said, his superiority taking place.

Blue's foot came out, kicking one knife away from Gwendolyn's hands. Gwendolyn was taken off guard and she looked at Reese in disbelief. Then her gaze swept around to see where her knives went. Shelby took the opportunity to fight against the twins and take their attention, effectively throwing protection for Magenta. She ran to get the knives that were on the ground.

With a warcry, Blue tackled Gwendolyn.

Reese helped them by fighting the twins too, knocking them out with his power.

The sound of police cars made everyone stop where they were. Gwendolyn still struggled to get free from Blue's grip that pinned her against the ground. Reese took one last look at all of the people there and fled the scene too quickly for anyone else to catch.

When the police arrived, Gwendolyn was so mad, that she didn't even care that the police witnessed what was going on. She tried to slap Blue, screaming and struggling. A police officer grabbed Gwendolyn and handcuffed her because she tried to fight him too.

"You have the right to remain silent..." the officer started listing, and Gwendolyn breathed deeply, her face to the ground.

All the others had surrendered, putting their weapons down. Seeing that Jasper was injured, the emergency ambulance took them away. The police supervised all five of them, in separate cars. Two of the cars went to the hospital and one to the station.

The person who called the police and emergency services was Miss Burgundy who had tried to follow the students but lost sight of them. Eventually, she rounded the corner in a taxi, got off, walked a couple of blocks, and heard the shouts and taunts from Gwendolyn. She called the police as soon as she could. She was at the police station as a witness.
