Revelations(2)

HILLARY ROSENMUND

My thoughts were all over the place,

"I just can't figure him out, why is he here? He clearly knows I serve Matthew Salvatore who is allied with the crown prince, I can't just jump ships out of nowhere, he must have something of great value to offer me, but I just can't put my finger on it."

I was in the middle of contemplating his reasons and his offers when he started to speak again

"Hillary, I can help you get

hmm what is the right word for it

ahh yes -revenge

you want that right?

Revenge against people who assassinated your father

Revenge against the people who poisoned your mother

you crave it, right?

Don't you want to see them bleed?

Weren't you swearing that you will give them a fate worse than death?

I can help you accomplish that, all I want in return is your help along with your inquisitors when the time comes."

My blood started boiling, and my face kept getting redder and redder,

I opened and closed my mouth a couple of times, but no words came out, after finally taking a couple of long breaths, I calmed down a little.

"H-how did you know that?" I weakly mumbled.

"Well I got spies everywhere, even inside your beautiful house, now I don't have much time, are you going to swear allegiance to me, or not?"

"It's just too sudden, I need time to think and proof that you will deliver on your promise, "I replied

" Oh about that, If you want I can order a mage to perform a blood bind ritual on both of us"

Blood bind is an ancient ritual, it is performed by two willing parties. When the ritual is being performed, both the parties can ask each other one question each, if any one of them tries to lie or bluff their way out of it, their blood vessels rupture instantly resulting in an untimely demise.

"If he is planning to go this far, he must have enough substance to back his claims," I thought inwardly

"But before that, I want to know the exact number of inquisitors you hold and their specific classes and their respective elemental affinities" he abruptly added

He could have found that information anywhere, he could have asked one of the spies he has planted here, but he still asked me as a sign of good faith, so I decided to answer his question.

"I have got a total of 200 inquisitors under me who individually can decimate a whole village, without breaking a sweat,

The detailed information about the mages who have unlocked a special class is as follows :

33 are attuned to air magic and 10 are dimensional mages, the rest can only use wind blades and other offensive spells.

117 of them are swordsmen, though most of them are simply meat shields for the mages we can't ignore the fact that 23 of them have reached master rank, meaning, although they don't have mana core they can still reinforce their sword and body with a particular element, I think they call it reinforcement magic.

40 of them are attuned to fire and lightning elements meaning that they are our ace when it comes to large-scale battles, their fireballs, and lightning bolts aren't something we could scoff at.

7 of them are attuned to light elements, I don't think I need to explain anything more, they could heal people, and they can also regenerate an arm or leg if the situation arises.

2 of them are attuned to the chaos element, out of which one is a necromancer and the other is a seer. While a necromancer can assemble an army of the dead, the seer can communicate with the recently departed souls.

The last one of them is a world energy user, his Jedi-like powers are unfathomable, but that doesn't mean he is invincible though, someone like a necromancer can easily kill one."

"Although all the mages can use all the elements, they only excel in one" I further added

"I will take this piece of information you shared with me as a sign of trust, now it's my time to reciprocate"

Out of nowhere, he called over one of his guards and commanded him to open a dimensional door, as he signaled me to follow him.

On the other side of the portal, there was practically nothing, it looked like a barren unhabituated land.

I could feel the heat from the sun chipping down my stamina, bit by bit.

We found no beasts, no plants except the occasional tumbleweeds, there was absolutely nothing in this desert except the loo and the torrid heat.

I kept conjuring water from time to time, to dry my mouth down, but the man who was walking beside me had no problems coping with such an environment.

After walking for a couple of more hours, I finally found a sign of life, but alas they were just some little lizards skittering through the golden sand.

After another half an hour, we encountered a tribe of enhanced camel spiders, they all were about two meters tall, and their legs were covered with spikes.

"How did they grow so big, sir?" I asked.

" Please don't call me sir, Randolph will do, and as per your question, the answer is simple they have mutated"

When the second prince asked me to call him by his name, my heart skipped a beat," isn't it too early? We barely know each other" I thought.

Keeping my thoughts to myself, I did what he told me to

"So Randolph, are we going to kill them?"

"No, we will not because they are the guardians which are tasked to protect my secret base" he replied nonchalantly.
