Aurbis, Guardian of Aetherius (Skyrim)

┏ ??? POV ┓

"Open your eyes" spoke a voice, disturbing me from my slumber.

I opened my eyes and saw everything was dark around me, yet I could see clear as day.

Many small orbs of lights hovering around me gave me an image of small mischievous fairies floating around.

Remembering I was woken by a voice, I tried to look around and find its location.

"I am in front of you" said the same voice.

A sudden realization hit me; the voice sounded more.… robotic.

I see in front of me an orb of light floating around, unlike the other orbs, its color is more vibrant and red in color.

'How did I miss a red orb right in front of me?' I questioned myself.

"Are you done?" Asked the red orb.

I nodded my head unconsciously. In my mind, I am questioning myself whether it is a dream or I smoked too much hippity-hoppity last night.

"I am remaining conscious of the will of the Aetherius. I have chosen you as my successor" said the red orb.

Now I am sure I am dreaming, it sounded like those isekai novels I used to read in my teenage years.

Deciding to play along and enjoy my lucid dream, I replied "Okay. Can you explain to me what I need to do?"

I could have asked more questions, but I rushed because it is not every day you can have a lucid dream of you being isekaied.

I have had various dreams of fuck'ing celebrities or acquiring superpowers, but every single damn time my dream always interrupted by either my alarm clocks or my wife waking me up last minute as the good part is about to start.

Even on a damn weekend, my wonderful fantasies are always interrupted by random things like Cosmo (my cat) laying on my face, making me smell his stinky breath.

"You need to become the guardian of my realm, while facing any threats which might cause the world to suffer." said the red orb.

It seems to be a fantasy setting, where I need to save a world from demons or something like that.

I inwardly chucked, if I was given power, there is no way I wouldn't abuse it.

Some might say that it is the opposite of what I do every day as a Doctor, but fuc'k them. This is my dream, and I like to live my fantasies.

"So I need to save the people or something?" I asked while making a righteous face.

The red orb chucked with its robotic voice, causing chills through my spine.

"I know what kind of person you are. I am asking you to maintain balance in the realm of Mundus while removing anything which can break the balance, excluding you." said the floating orb.

I showed an embarrassed smile. I was too excited, and I forgot I was having a conversation in a dream. My brain should know what kind of person I am or something. I don't know what is going on currently, so I just hypothesized my subconscious is giving me this dream.

I know I am acting childish compared to my age (25), but that is how I am. I can be childish most of the time, while also acting mature if a situation calls.

"Very well, I accept!" I said, hiding my excitement.

Suddenly a red screen in front of me blocked the view of the red orb which was slowly turning transparent, leaving a last message.

"I name you Aurbis, as you are reborn in the Void called Aurbis. As a last gift, I give you my divinity, a system, in hopes of guiding you on your cruel journey. I warn you, successor; this is as real as it could get, and beware of the gods. "

As idiot as I was, I didn't hear her message as I was looking at a gamer screen in front of me.

"Huh? What are these names?" I mumbled.

By reading the names of the race, I realized I had no idea what those meant. Though I have a tiny suspicion, I read these somewhere, but I couldn't recall anything on top of my mind.

I then clicked on 『Imperial』feeling some familiarity with the name.

Suddenly I was hit with tons of information on that race. From the stats, I could get to the history behind the race.

'That is useful' I thought at the system's usefulness.

After looking through all the options, I chose 『Half-Dragon』since it has higher states compared to the rest, with three unique gifts.

- Kyne's Favor (Power): Time between shouts is reduced 100% for <15> seconds.

- Gift of the Blood: Your Dragon blood gives you <50%> resistance to poison and disease. In addition, the time between shouts is reduced by <10>%

- Dragonskin: Absorb 50% of Magicka from all incoming spells for 60 seconds.

I realized that many of the options of the race have negatives, like the Argonian race has a debuff of being mind manipulated by a tree.

Bosmers are known to be cannibals and have a tendency to crave to eat the dead flesh of all races.

Then I decided to make my character. I didn't like any of the presets it was given, so I selected the option 'customize', where I can make my own character from scratch.

I finished my character by making his eye color red and hair black like the surrounding Void. I was given the option of adding horns and scales, but I declined.

I happily nodded at my decision, then pressed the button to accept.

Suddenly, I felt nauseous and slowly felt everything around me turn blurry.
