@Westwood Police Station

Everyone was busy doing their task while he was having a hard time compiling all the stuff he get. Victor Harris, Veronica's father was a police officer in that town and he's handling his daughter's case.

"You're taking another overtime?" Officer Madrigal laughed, "Doesn't surprise me or you're doing this to prove your daughter was not guilty, are you?"

He sighed, "I'm not in the mood talking to nonsense people like you, officer Madrigal."

"I'm sorry if I disturb your personal space, I should apologize for making a lot of trouble between you."

He knew it was a lie because Madrigal never did something good, that officer always put him in the most unwanted situation. Victor doesn't want to make trouble so he ignores him and acts like he doesn't exist.

"Are we playing that game again? You're acting like I don't exist so you wouldn't put yourself into trouble, aren't you?" Officer Madrigal is desperate to annoy him which he did best because he was about to play with his games.

"Don't start me, Madrigal. You are my senior so I'm respecting you, don't make me turn into something you didn't want."

Madrigal's face becomes serious, "Are you threatening me, Harris? Know your place and if you want me to remind you, I'll do it."

"You start this so face the consequences."

"You!" Madrigal grab his collar and was about to punch his face when the sergeant stop his fist, he look at the culprit but he was stunned to see who it that, "Sergeant, what are you doing here?"

"Is this what you do to your companions? Aren't you ashamed of what you're doing, Madrigal?!" the angry shout of the sergeant.

Madrigal bowed because he knew that his uncle would embarrass him again. Their sergeant was his father's brother and one of the worst things that ever happened to him was to be with his uncle at work.

But what he hated most about his uncle, was that he was even more in favor of what Harris was saying and he preferred it to everyone. The cop was never able to spin in his palms because he was too serious about his job.

"I'm your nephew, uncle, you must be on my side and not him!" Madrigal couldn't stand it anymore and answered his uncle.

"I would never side with your crooked law if I only knew you would be like this. I would never have let you be a cop! You're just embarrassing our clan!"

Madrigal secretly clenched his fist, "Why is Harris always on your side? If you scold me it's like we're not related."

"Don't start me because I only have one answer to that question of yours, so you had better leave in front of me because maybe what else can I do to you!"

Madrigal did not answer and quickly left the area. Meanwhile, Victor breathed a sigh of relief because he could now work quietly.

"Thank you, sergeant."

"Don't thank me, you have the right to work peacefully especially since you are handling your daughter's case, am I right?"

He nodded in response, "You're right, until now we haven't been able to track down who killed Tariq."

"That's what I heard from your comrades in the case, don't worry I know you can solve it."

Victor is thankful because someone believes his daughter is innocent, if not for the sergeant he would not have taken this case.

The gentleman was kind to him, so he handled this case himself. He was very grateful to Veronica's godfather.

"Apart from the information you gathered, what other proof do you have?" Sergeant Madrigal asked.

"Right now I don't have any other proof but I'm doing everything to get more useful information to catch the killer of my daughter's boyfriend."

"All right, you can handle it," the gentleman tapped him on the shoulder, "I'll go ahead, I still have work to do."

"All right."

After the sergeant left him, he went back to his work and sipped his coffee which had cooled down because of what had happened. He just sighed before looking back at the computer in front of him.

He went through the photos taken in the forest one by one but he still didn't find anything strange. Until something hit his eyes, causing him to zoom in on the photo.

He can't go wrong with what he sees, it's a very large footprint but it's not a normal footprint just because it looks like it came from an animal.

He stared at it intently but suddenly the computer he was using died. He leaned back violently in his chair because he was sure that Madrigal had done something again to ruin his night.

He turned to the newspaper on his desk and quickly picked it up now he still couldn't believe what had happened to Tariq. He knew how important the young man was to his daughter so he also knew the result of his loss.

That had a big impact on his daughter and he knew that Veronica was doing everything just to show that she was okay.

He felt pity for his daughter because the young lady had changed since losing her boyfriend. It hurts to see that his daughter is changing because of an unexpected incident but he will do everything to prove that his daughter is innocent.

Despite all of this, Victor wouldn't let anyone think she was a murderer. He loves his daughter so much and he can do anything he can just to put her daughter's life like she use to be, it may be a wrong decision but being a father has no definition of scared because he's the type of man whose, not a fan of giving up until he gets what he needs.

"I promise, I'll prove you are innocent so you can live like you use to be... If I had to take it down by myself, I'll do it just to see you smile again." He whispered.
