Chapter 1 Memories

It was 6am on a rainy Monday morning. As Alex sits in the kitchen, he could see the raindrops were slowly trickling down the window above the sink. Alex wondered to himself how he was going to tell his mom that he got expelled for getting into a fight. Friday was when it happened Alex just snapped, not because of some stupid comment someone had said about him, but because a boy by the name of Billy Melcher had mentioned his brother. "No wonder your brother left you. Who would want to be around you?" Billy said with a disgusting snicker. Those words awoke something inside of him: pain, anger, and regret all filled up inside of him like a cup of overflowing water. Alex can't even remember what happened after those venomous words had spurred out of his mouth, only that Billy had to go to the hospital after the fight.

Alex had a younger brother over a year ago named Lucas. He had hazel eyes, black curly hair that always covered his forehead, and a warm smile that would brighten anyone's day. Lucas and Alex were inseparable. They would do everything together, and were very protective over each other. Until one Friday afternoon, Lucas was taking a walk with Alex and talking about who the winner was in a video game they both loved called, Cario Brothers. Lucas was starting to complain about how tired he was, he started to feel very nauseous and his vision began to get very blurry, then everything went dark and he just collapsed. Alex, not wasting a moment quickly carried Lucas home to lie down. Every day after that, Lucas would start throwing up every morning no matter what he took. Nothing would help him, not even in the slightest, things only got worse from there. The next day Alex and his mother went to take Lucas to the hospital for a cat scan, Alex saw his mother now talking to the doctor having a worried look on her face. Moments later his father rushed in through the enterance doors of the ER only to cling to his wife for dear life. His mother and father now with tears filling their eyes stayed in place for what seemed like an hour as if time had froze, and this sent a sensation of fear hitting Alex's very core.
