She Had No Clue

Minister Kim entered into a state of desperation, and he was ready to do anything for the director of the Service Bureau to dissolve the marriage between his son and the woman he didn't want to know anything about.

"I'm sorry, Sir. It's not possible," the director smiled while trying to guess if Roy knew what his father was up to. But in conclusion, he decided not to stick his nose into big people's problems.

Minister Kim felt so ashamed of himself that he didn't even remember how he left that place.

He could only recall fragment pieces of him bowing to the prime minister in apology while sending him off and promising to offer him a proper explanation and apology another time shortly before he suffered high blood pressure.

By the time he got himself, his chest was still heaving up and down. "Where is Roy Kim? Reach him and tell him to come back home right now!!!"

Immediately after giving out the orders, he placed his palm on his chest and went into a coughing spree. His wife who was sitting at the side of his bed tending to him had to come to his rescue.

She handed him a glass of water and shook her head. "You are already in this state yet you are still treating yourself badly. Won't you listen to your doctor?" she chided him before locking gazes with a middle-aged man in a white coat trying to adjust the IV fluid.

"Roy is the only person I want to hear from right now!" Minister Kim did not care if he was going to choke on his words or the cough. He just wanted his people to reach his son through the phone and have it over to him.

But as Roy was on a business trip surely, it won't be able to reach him but that was none of Minister Kim's business. He has to get everything he wants.

---

As Anna no longer had to visit Roy's place that morning, she decided to catch up on the sports news after having breakfast that morning.

Since her mother didn't want her help in the kitchen to do the dishes, she picked up her phone and started browsing the internet.

Although her mother kept her up to date with the lawn tennis news when she was blind, there were some pictures and videos she wanted to see for herself.

An hour later, her mother cut some fruits and brought them to the living room.

Seeing this, Anna took her mother's hand with a smile that reached her eyes. "Mum, I can do all these by myself now. I can see." She was trying to remind her mother that she no longer needed to serve her like in the past few years since she was now able to help herself.

"I know," Ms. Carter smiled. "I have gotten used to it. Just allow me," she winked before walking back into the kitchen.

Anna could only take her legs onto the couch and took a bite of the green melon with gratitude swelling in her chest.

It took nothing more than a little effort to be happy. Unlike in the past when she didn't know she surrounded herself with toxic people, Anna planned to only surround herself with the people and things that would make her happy.

There is no space for irrelevant people in her heart.

At noon, Anna realized that she should be getting ready to welcome Roy into her home, and she had yet to inform her mother about it.

'This is going to be tough,' she concluded in her head.

Anna was worried about how to bring up the topic of the new man in her life. And she can't tell that story without talking about the betrayal from her best friend and her boyfriend. But even if a gun was put to her head, she would never mention to her mother that the kind of marriage she had with Roy was not the normal one.

Telling her mother that she and Roy would divorce in three months was akin to asking to be thrown out of the house.

Anna will never forget how her mother threw her father out of their house in the past. That image has been engraved in her head for the longest time that she dared not mess up.

After thinking to herself for a while, she went to meet her mother in the kitchen. "Mum, someone is coming over, can you make an extra plate?"

Hearing that, her mother paused with the chopping she was doing and spunned to face her. "Who is coming over? Susan, Sam?"

Of course, those were the only two names Ms. Carter would mention since her daughter's life revolved around them.

Anna's smile wavered. "No, not them. It's someone else."

Her mother noticed something off with her and turned back to continue chopping the vegetables. "I have noticed that you seem to no longer like your boyfriend and your girlfriend any longer. Did something happen? And who is this friend of yours? How did you two meet?"

"Mum, let's talk about something else for now, okay? I will tell you everything soon," Anna assured her.

Mrs. Carter's lips formed an 'O' before she inquired, "So, something is really wrong. Do I have to be worried?"

Already, Anna had turned to leave the kitchen, but she paused in her steps to answer the question. "Umm… I don't think so. Anyway, Mum, I'm going to take a nap and please, do not tamper with my phone."

The last time her mother touched her phone, things almost did not end well.

"I won't," Mrs. Carter replied and shook her head.

While Anna was asleep, her mother finished prepping lunch and walked into her bedroom to wake her up, and it was then that she remembered that she hadn't taken back the household register from her so, she sighted the bag Anna left home with the previous day on the work-desk and made her way towards it.

"Look at this girl. She forgot to take out everything and store the bag away on the shelf," Mrs. Carter mumbled to herself.

At this point, she didn't think she was invading her daughter's privacy by searching her bag since she had been the one doing stuff like that when Anna couldn't see a thing.

So right now, she was trying to help her daughter as usual to unpack and keep her bag away when a red booklet fell out of the bag.

Immediately, she bent down to pick it up as her gaze narrowed down on it. Straightening her back, her eyes widened in shock as the term 'Marriage License' entered her field of vision.

Mrs. Carter's hands shook slightly as she opened the red booklet to read out the name of the person the marriage license belonged to

Almost the same second, her gaze snapped back to the young woman sleeping soundlessly on the bed and thought, 'Her daughter was married and she had no clue.'

Dearests, i will double the chapter in the next update... XOXO
