A LOVE LIKE NO OTHER

It all happened so suddenly when a beautiful priceless gift was given to the king and queen of Fiore, Jude and Layla Heartfilia. They both lived happily in their kingdom along with their loyal subjects. There was always alot of merriment and celebrations as well. The king and queen were indeed blessed with everything. But still they wanted something more. They wanted an heir. They tried many times to bare a child but they often failed. They were sad and heartbroken. Until oneday, while the king and queen were out for a ride in the country. They came across a lake in the middle of their route. Looking at the queen the king jumped to the ground, and made his way to the lake.

King Jude: "this lake is magnificent. But what is it doing here? I've taken this route many times but I've never seen this lake before."

Sensing a lot of magic power, the queen jumped down from the carriage and walked passed her husband. He stood there silently as she walked towards the lake and knelt beside the water. Without saying a word she gently dipped her hand into the water causing it to glow. A bright light shun throughout the forest. Startled, the king rushed towards the queens side but stopped when she began to step back looking at the lake as water began to take the form of a dragon. Queen Layla and King Jude were astounded. They began to walk closer to the dragon as it growled gently. They noticed another light that was also glowing on a sakura tree that was on the side of the lake. The dragon stood and shielded the light from Layla and jade. Then with another loud roar she ask

Dragon:" who are you, and why did you wake me?"

Startled the queen answers as she gets closer to the water dragon.

Layla: I'm sorry, I didn't mean to wake you but I sensed a lot of magic power coming from this lake and I jus touched it, that's all. I'm queen Layla from the kingdom of Fiore. Might I ask who you are?

Looking at the queen the dragon let out a roar, then leaned in closer. Instead of being afraid and running away, queen Layla took the liberty of touching the dragons right wing, with a smile on her lips. The dragon looked in surprise as the king did the same. Then she answered…

Dragon:" I'm queen Ariana and this is my daughter Princess Lucy.

The dragon pulls Lucy from the tree using her tail. She places the baby gently in the arms of the queen. Immediately Lucy stops glowing. Jude and Layla look at the baby in wonder. She was so beautiful. Her eyes were hazel brown and her hair was gold. The queen couldn't contain herself any longer, she hugged the baby as she looked up at the dragon.

Layla:" she is so beautiful, so perfect…

Ariana:" yes but she is also very powerful. She has powers just like her father King Rayden. You see, not only is he a dragon, he can also control the four elements, earth, fire, wind and water. He gave his life to save our Lucy.

The king and queen sadly look at the dragon who shed tears. Looking at Lucy, the dragon smiled.

Ariana:" oneday our Lucy will get revenge for our family. She will defeat achnalogia. The evil dragon that destroyed our home.

Shocked the king and queen look at the dragon who raged with anger. She was about to roar but fell to the ground glowing. A bright light surrounded her and she quickly turned into a human. She wore a blue dress, her eyes were hazel brown and her hair gold, just like Lucy's. she slowly walked over to Jude and Layla who stared at her and smiled.

Layla:" your true form, your indeed very beautiful Ariana."

Ariana:" now there is something I must tell you both…

Jude:" what is it?"

Ariana:" when the evil dragon destroyed our home, he slaughtered most of our family. Only a few survived… my husband Rayden made sure Lucy and I were safe. I flew for many days and I drained almost all of my magic. That's why I turned into the lake. You see, becoming water helps me to be calm and relax but my magic is almost gone…

Layla started to weep as she listened to the dragons tale. Sadly she spoke

Layla:" I'm the Celestial Queen, cant I help you in some way Ariana?"

Even the king offers to help.

Jude:" yes and I'm a spell castor…I can use my magic to send you to a place where there is an abundance of magic power. You can rest there and your powers will return slowly."

Smiling at the king and queen, Ariana nodded in agreement. But what she said next made them both cry tears of joy.

Ariana:" you can help me. but only, if u promise me something in return".

Layla:" please tell us, what is your wish?"

With a smile on her face Ariana then requested something that made the king and queen stare at her in disbelief.

Ariana:" I would like you too look after my Lucy!"

Both shocked and happy the king and queen hugged the woman. But Layla however was worried. She didn't want to separate a mother from her child. What was she to do? Looking at Ariana Layla cried out…

Layla:" I would love to raise your child as my own. But I cant tear her away from you. You're her mother after all. I cant take her away, I'm sorry…I cant…

As the queen began to step forward and place the child in her mother's arms, Ariana stepped back with tears in her eyes and a small smile on her lips she addressed the king and queen.

Ariana:" Lucy can never know that I'm alive, if needed, only then will I speak to her using my telephaty. She has that ability too. Don't let her combine her four elements in one spell or she will wipe out everyone's memories including her own. She is extremely powerful. Please look after her Layla, she is very precious to me. But I cant always protect her…I'm too weak…I will go to the other realm. but Before I go I must make sure that the wizard council will accept my Lucy into this world…we must hurry..."

Without hesitation Ariana opens a portal and the all enter in.

Upon arriving on the other side they head towards the wizard council.

Ariana:" where is everyone? I know this is where your council is, but there doesn't seem to be anyone here…unless…

She walks two steps in front of Jude and Layla and puts her hand on the wall causing it to shatter. She began walking over the shatter stones to the other side of the wall.

Layla:" I wonder why they are hiding, do you think they are afraid of you Ariana?"

Ariana:" well I am a dragon….I guess everyone is afraid of me because I can easily drown them. That's why they hide. I cant wait for them too meet my friend the fire dragon. His name is Igneel. I used my telephaty and called him to meet us here."

Jude and Layla smiled at each other as they all entered a grand hall where there was a huge table and all the wizards were seated awaiting their arrival. They were greeted by a short woman with long golden hair and green eyes. Although she looked like a little child, she too was the most powerful of all the wizards. Her name was Mavis Vermillion or as everyone would call her, Master Mavis.

Master Mavis:" hello Jude and Layla , it's nice to see you again."

Looking ahead at Ariana master Mavis smiles and walks over to her.

Master Mavis:" and you must be the water dragon Queen Ariana. Is that correct?"

Smiling Ariana answers as she answered.

Ariana: "I've seen you before…it was many years ago. You were wandering the forest with little girl."

All the other wizards sat quietly and looked at the woman who was speaking to Mavis . quickly their attention was diverted when they saw queen Layla holding a little infant in her hand. Shocked they all interjectected. An ice wizard named Silver was the first to enquire about the baby.

Silver:" Layla, who's baby is that? where did it come from?"

Ignoring the ice wizard, the queen of the fairy's flew over the table towards Layla laughing aloud.

Layla:" lily, how are you?"

Lily:" my Layla, this child is very beautiful…there is something about her!..hmmm…something…

With a hand on her chin the fairy flew around Layla and the infant as she continues to speak

Lily:" I sense something, this baby is different…where are her parents?"

Slightly tilting her head Layla looks over to Ariana who joins them. The room was suddenly filled with hot air as a dragon flew in and landed on the ground next to mavis who didn't seemed at all scared. She looked at the dragon and smiled as they both observed what was going on. Taking the baby in her arms Ariana spoke

Ariana:" everyone, this is my daughter Lucy!"

The wizards all gasped in surprise when the saw the baby levitating out of her mother's arms. They all remarked shockingly that the sight.

Silver:" she is so powerful, at an infant age she levitates by herself!"

Lily:" my, my her power is extraordinary."

Ariana:" Lucy is very powerful, she has elemental magic like King Rayden.

Mavis:" she is very special indeed, but I have to ask, why did you summon the wizard council Ariana?"

With a sad voice and tears in her eyes Ariana told the wizards what happened in her home land. Some of the wizards were shocked while others shed tears.

Ariana:" so Igneel and I flew off. But the others, are all lost. Some are dead and the others are hidden from achnalogia. That's why I want Layla and Jude to keep my Lucy with them. She will be safer here."

Mavis:" yes of course she will be safer here Ariana. She will be under my watch as well. I formed a guild here for wizards, when she is old enough, Lucy can go there and learn control her powers. She will also make new friends there.

Concerned for her child's well being Ariana questions mavis to ensure her child's safety.

Ariana: "but where exactly is this guild, can anyone find it?"

Mavis:" the guild is in a town called magnolia. The name of the guild is fairy tail. don't you worry about a thing Ariana. Lucy will be safe with us. She will have everyone looking out for her…now tell me, are you sure that you want to go to the other realm?"

Nodding in agreement Ariana agreed to go and leave Lucy in the care of the king and queen along with the wizard council. The dragon that stood aside Mavis looked at the baby and smiles as she crept ant attempted to climb into his wing. He quickly descended into his human form and scooches the baby up into his arms. Lucy pulled his pink locks and giggled as he looked at her with onyx black eyes. Chuckling he kisses her forehead and hands her over to her mother. The woman hugs her child tightly and then places her on the ground. She the places a barrier around Lucy and touches it releasing all of her magic into it. The baby begins to glow as the magic power enters her body. Walking over to Ariana mavis asks

Mavis:" are you sure you want to do this Ariana?"

Everyone looks at her with concern as they watch her give all her magic away. Smiling she turns to master mavis with tears in her eyes.

Ariana:" I wouldn't have it any other way, besides Lucy will be twice as powerful now. My only worry is that achnalogia will try to hurt my Lucy. Please everyone, please protect my child."

The queen of the fairy's flew over to her and hugged her. Queen Layla picks Lucy of the ground and holds her close.

Layla:" I promise Ariana, Lucy will grow up to be a strong brave and excellent girl. You have my word."

Jude:" don't worry, we will protect her with our life."

Turning to master mavis once more she smiled then walked towards the portal that had opened earlier.

Mavis:" don't worry your magic will return as will you. I will make sure Lucy stays safe. After all she will be joining my guild as soon as she can walk. Now take this lacrima with you."

Shocked Ariana took the lacrima and stared at it confusingly.

Ariana:" what does this do mavis?…I've never seen it before…what is it?"

Mavis:" its magic. It wont harm you, whenever you want to see Lucy , just look into the lacrima and you will be able to see her. Anytime you want okay.

Ariana:" thank you mavis, I must go now…"

Turning to Jude and Layla she hugs her baby one last time then walks through the portal never to be seen again. Everyone stood there for a while looking at Lucy. She was continuously shifting from her dragon form to her human form.

Mavis:" oh dear…we will have to teach Lucy to control this when she gets older."

Igneel:" yes she is gifted, but this could pose a lot of trouble for her."

Lily:" we will have to be extra careful with her. Who knows what she is capable of at this young age!"

Mavis:" I agree…Jude, Layla, you must take her home at once. If any dark guild senses her power they will try to take her away from you."

With a nod The king and queen took baby Lucy away to their kingdom. It was a joyous occasion indeed. Everyone was happy the kingdom finally had an heir. A little princess who was called Lucy Heartfilia.
