Poisoned.

Miland City Hospital.

Aria rushed to the reception and asked, "Is my grandma alright? I... I received a call that my grandmother was here."

The receptionist looked at the young girl's disheveled state and asked, "What's your grandmother's name?"

"Ivy Wilson."

"Oh, you are that old woman's granddaughter. The doctor has been waiting for you for a long time now."

"I-"

"Go through that elevator to the second floor and ask any nurse there for Doctor Myles, and you will be directed to his office."

"But what about my grandmother? I want to see her as well."

"Given the urgency of your grandmother's case, I suggest you see the doctor first. Now go."

Aria thanked the receptionist before running to the elevator.

The receptionist shook her head and looked at her colleague. "Hey, didn't the nurse say that there might not be a cure for the old woman?"

"Yeah, she said so, but what type of sickness does she have?"

The receptionist shrugged, saying, "I have no idea."

.....

When Aria got to the second floor, she found a nurse who directed her to Dr. Myles's nurse.

"Come in." The doctor said when he heard a knock on his door.

A nurse entered with Aria and said, "This is that old woman's granddaughter."

"Is my grandmother alright? Why is she in the hospital? What is wrong with her?" Aria questioned immediately when she saw the doctor.

The fifty-one-year-old doctor looked at the nurse who had accompanied Aria and said, "You can leave us."

After the nurse left, Doctor Myles said calmly to Aria, "Have a seat."

Aria sat opposite him and waited for him to say something about her grandmother's condition.

"Have you seen your grandma?"

Aria shook her head and said, "The receptionist said it was better to see you first before going to see her because of the urgency of the situation."

Doctor Myles sighed and said, "Your grandma has been poisoned."

"What?"

"Sadly, we don't know how long the poison has been in her body, but whatever it is, it is deadly. It has already caused the failure of some of her organs, so now all we are hoping is that it doesn't cause her heart to fail before we find the cure."

"What are you saying? How can my grandma be poisoned? She has no enemies and is actually the healthiest woman I know, so how exactly did she get poisoned?

"I wish I could tell you, but even I am confused about your grandma's condition."

"Confused? What are you confused about? Aren't you a doctor? If you say she is poisoned, then find a cure for her."

"We have tested her blood over and over again to find out what poison she has consumed, but we have ended up with nothing."

"I don't understand."

"Listen to me, Aria, I may be a human, but I know about the existence of supernatural beings in Miland City, and that is why I will tell you this. Your grandmother's poison isn't a poison that came from the human world. If you want to find the cure for her poison, then you need to find it in the world it came from, and I'm sorry, but I can't help you with that."

"How do you know what we are?"

"When your grandmother came here, I gave her an injection that I thought would slow whatever was causing the failure of her organs, and her finger grew longer and sharper before reverting back to normal, and since you are her granddaughter, I'm guessing it's the same with you."

Aria's eyes became watery as she asked, "What should I do? I don't know what to do."

Doctor Myles stood up and said, "Let's first go see your grandmother, and as for what you will do next, I'm sure you will figure it out."

Aria followed the doctor to see her grandmother, and the moment she saw her grandmother looking thinner and more pale than she last saw her and with the oxygen mask she was using to breathe, she broke down in tears.

"Grandma, your Aria is here, so you can get up now." Aria said, cleaning her eyes. There was no way the woman lying down here was the same as her healthy and lively grandma.

Aria held the old woman's hands and said, "The doctor says you have been poisoned, but I know my grandmother; she is stronger than any poison. I'm sure the reason you didn't fight was because you missed me, right? Your Aria is here, and she will never leave your side again, so get up, Grandma. Come on, get up."

Aria kept shaking her grandmother's body, but there was no reply; tears streamed down her face as she said, "You know you are the only one I have, so please don't leave me. Please, please don't go. I will find the cure and the person who has done this to you, so please just hang in there; don't abandon me too. I'm begging you."

Doctor Myles's heart softened watching the young girl beg in tears for her grandmother not to abandon her, but the truth of the matter is, without a cure, the old woman might not last for more than 48 hours.

KIRHA VILLA

"Don't you plan to ever return to the pack house?" A brown-haired man asked his friend and Alpha as he passed him a glass of vodka.

Tristan collected it and looked at his friend and Beta named Cole with his golden eyes as he replied, "You guys have survived so long without me, and besides, I don't need to be in the same building as you lot before I can control my pack."

That was true, and Cole couldn't even counter his words. Ever since his mate died, Tristan had moved out of the pack house, and nobody said anything because they all thought he just needed some time alone, but now it has been years, and he doesn't even look like he wishes to come back.

"Your wolf must love you so much to allow you to use his eyes to see." Cole teased.

Even though Tristan was blind, he still found a way to be able to see with the eyes of his wolf, but unfortunately he couldn't do this every time.

Tristan didn't reply to his beta comment and instead asked, "How is the preparation of the party coming along?"

"People are wondering if you are really going to choose a wife at the party."

Tristan didn't reply, making Cole frown and say, "You can't hold it off any longer, Tristan. Rumors are already going around that you are still mourning your dead mate and would one day become a liability to us. You need to prove them wrong."

"That is why I am picking a wife at the party." Tristan replied. He will pick a wife and later, find a way to get rid of her.
